Assalam o Alaikum all

I need some guidance on the 2 rulings I see on Ayatollah Sistani's website (https://www.sistani.org/english/book/48/2117/)

Ruling 15. If an intrinsic impurity (ʿayn al-najāsah) – such as urine or blood – or something that has become impure (mutanajjis) – such as impure clothing – comes into contact with kurr water, in the event that kurr water acquires the smell, colour, or taste of that impurity, it becomes impure; but if the kurr water does not change [in its smell, colour, or taste], it does not become impure.

AND

Ruling 19. If an impure object is washed under a tap that is connected to kurr water, the water that drips from the object is pure (ṭāhir) if it is connected to kurr water and has not acquired the smell, colour, or taste of the impurity and does not contain an intrinsic impurity.

So if I wash my hand that is impure with urine/blood with kurr water from a tap, is the water that drips/splashing from my hand while washing pure or najis?

Confusion is that the water does not change its smell, colour or taste as the quantity of intrinsic impurity is small. So according to ruling 15, dripping water/any splashes should be pure. But since the dripping water/splashes have intrinsic impurity as I am washing blood/urine, according to ruling 19 its impure. So which ruling should dictate if the dripping/splashing water is pure or impure?

Kindly advise.

Thanks

According to rule 15 adding impurity to Kurr water stays pure if the colour, taste and smell of the water didn’t change. Rule 19 says says dripping is impure if the colour, taste and smell of water changed. Both rulings tell you the same thing. your washing blood and you see the blood dripping, then the Kurr water’s colour has changed and it’s impure.

Thanks Hassan.

What about washing hands impure with urine with kurr water? Since the water wont change the colour, smell or taste of water and one can not see the intrinsic impurity dripping while washing (but it will be there as I am washing urine), so will that dripping water considered pure?

Who said the water won’t change its colour, smell or taste? If you can see the urine as you are washing it, then the water has changed and has become najis.

Thanks Hassan.

What I understand is if I can see the intrinsic impurity flowing with the water while washing, then that water is not pure. What if the intrinsic impurity gets completely absorbed in the dripping water (intrinsic impurity is very less like a drop of blood or a few drops of urine) that is connected to the kurr tap and has not changed the colour, smell or taste. Will the water be pure or not?
