My shia friend is leaving Islam!!!!!

Salam, 

I have a friend who last night messaged me on a forum to inform me he is leaving Islam. 

It was unexpected and honestly shocking. I've known him for 2 years and we've always discussed religion and he was very knowledgeable. 

Let me also clarify he was a practising Shia. He sent me this last night and I don't know how to respond. Any advice as I am clueless, mainly because idk if he has become Christian or just an Atheist. This is his reply: 

"I’ve been doing research during my holidays and the evidence is overwhelming in finding Islam to be a false religion.

Don’t take my word for it. You would come to the same conclusion if you investigate for yourself. I have nothing to gain from telling you this. I just thought I’d contact anyone I know who is a Muslim. Facts remain facts independent of whether one chooses to believe in them or not. It’s amazing the number of people who choose to follow tradition and ignore learning more about their own beliefs when it comes to their eternal salvation.

The main problems are applicable to all sects of Islam as they all have the same foundations. For Islam this is Muhammad and the Quran. Both have been disproven and there are countless resources on the internet for those who seek knowledge.

But that’s up to you my friend. I’m just going to give you a resource to start off called “The Original Sources of the Quran”. This is written by a Christian but it has excellent information. There’s also the added benefit that they have familiarity with the previous scriptures. There is some speculation in a few parts but the evidence cannot be denied. I’m also going to go through a thought experiment.

The Quran borrows much of its material from the Talmud and Christian heretical sources like the Gospel of Pseudo-Matthew and the Arabic Infancy Gospel. The Talmud is the oral traditions of men (that Jesus condemned) that all Jews except for the Karaites follow. It takes precedence over the Torah. Now if you know what this book says you would be disgusted to find the Quran having borrowed from it. For within it, it says that Mary the Virgin was a wh***, that Jesus was a sorcerer and is burning in boiling excrement and it has many passages detailing the superiority of Jews over non-Jews by calling them beasts in human form, saying it’s okay to kill them, cheat them, lie to them and treat them poorly. Basically it’s a Jewish supremacist book.

As for the thought experiment. Let’s assume the Quranic account of Jesus not being crucified is true and that he was raised up to heaven. This causes severe problems. It means that Allah deceived everyone, including the disciples of Jesus who would go on to write the Gospels. Instead of just raising Jesus up without having someone else in his place (which he can easily do) Allah instead chose to use someone else and thus trick every single person. This means that he started the world's largest false religion and every single person following Jesus including his disciples will be going to hell because of Allah’s trickery. If Allah did this by accident then he’s a very stupid god. If he did it on purpose then he’s an evil god. This also begs the question, how do Muslims know that they aren’t being deceived by Allah? There’s even support for Allah being a deceiver in the Quran so this quality can’t be denied (3:54, 8:43-44).

That’s all I’m going to share. If you’re interested then you will do the research yourself. If not then I’ve wasted my time. In any case, this is all I wanted to say."

He is now the 2nd person in my life to leave Islam and I am starting to believe I am at fault here because I am not doing enough to ensure my peers are on the straight path. Any advice???

The advice is that you should be very careful to not to follow the same faulty conclusions and reasons he have giving you, rather this is a good opportunity for you to seek more knowledge to strengthen your own faith, because that unfortunately was his case, easily to fall in these claims without giving any valid reason and proof (What he is saying is not proof but rather his conjecture). Reading polemics and criticism is fine, but mostly people with intellect will find out how rubbish they usually are.

Salam this is totally wrong conclusion which evangelists have spread because in contrast to their claim diciples of prophet Isa(as)/Jesus have witnessed his ascending & crossification of someone else which some of them have mentioned in gospels but by deviation of Paul & changing story by him & confirmation of Nikkia council & censoring & altering stories in bible it becomes common false story between christian which any gospels which ascending of prophet Isa(عليه السلام) has been mentioned in it has been banned by Nikkia council so therefore the god in christanity is stupid god which obeys commands of paul & other zionists & evangelists.

 I think your friend is looking for sources NOT to believe in God or Islam for whatever reasons (e.g. influences by friends, whispers of shayton etc)

How exactly Prophet Mohammad (Peace be upon him) and The Quran are disproven? Countless Sources but by Who???

This Resource written by a Christian??? How about Christian sources that support Islam, Prophet Mohammad and his family (Peace upon all of them) – What about them??

Am I correct, he is using a Jewish supremacist book as another source to suggest Islam is wrong? How could he even write such things as Mary (peace be upon her), he could’ve simply said book has said inappropriate things about her.

How did God deceive everyone and plus what does he mean by everyone (the entire people of that nation or only his disciples? If he means the entire nation then what would be the point of telling everyone that this going to happen. God does NOT need to deceive us. I think your friend misunderstood the whole Jesus (peace be upon him) crucifixion matter.

Allah does not do things by Accident – If your friend believes that God has done things by accident, he is doubting God ability and he is committing a sin. I 

How could he call God such things? I wouldn’t even dare writing it.

Does not he wonder how human were created? Does he really thinks that all the wrong doers will get away from their crimes? Does not he care or hope to see the criminals to get punished for all the lives they destroyed? Does not he wonder from where we get all our food, water, medicine, rain etc who could provide all these beside God, Almighty?

God Knows of what we do NOT know. God does not need us. God is omniscient, has infinite knowledge and power.  We should be extremely grateful and thankful for everything God has provided us. Most importantly  that we need to be grateful and thankful is that God the most merciful, has allowed us to repent and to be forgiven.

You're not at fault, however be careful how you're going to influence your friends especially when they may ask questions that you will find difficult to answer without researching. Unless you're got good knowledge and confident about it, no issue but again be careful how often you do it and how you do it.

1. Focus on yourself 2. Focus your family members on straight path 3. About your peers, don't stress, do what you can, your not responsible for the choices they make. You and your family are the most important people in your life to maintain being on the straight path.

I'm going to be a bit more harsher in my advice than my brothers. But why do you care? If somebody who I assume was a practicing Shia decides to embrace the path that Shaytan paved for them, then I look forward to God's promise and punishment for them.

If I had found any fault in Shia theology I would've left long ago. The amount of mental gymnastics and incorrect assumptions/conclusions your friend jumped to is too infuriating to even write a response to. (Hint: He's wrong on every point).

Cut this person off, you're not to be held accountable for someone who rejects the signs of the lord. "Allah has set a seal upon their hearts and upon their hearing, and over their vision is a veil. And for them is a great punishment." (2:7)

Ultimately your friend will go towards what he wants, and it seems like he wants a path to suit himself not to submit to Allah(سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى).

4: verse 80: He who obeys the Messenger has obeyed Allah; but those who turn away - We have not sent you over them as a guardian.
