Hi peace negotiation has offered by Russian government nearly after a week after stating struggle which at that time even according pro western & anti Russia media , Russia has had superior position in struggle which this story of " Trapped Russian soldiers in Ukrain" is just a pro American propaganda which even you have said that Ukranians are still defending against invasion so therefore still now Ukraine has not upperhand in struggle.

You are twisting reality too by repeating American propaganda against Russia by dehumanizing Russian soldiers & Putin , which your propaganda about defending Ukraine by patriots doesn't hold water which everyone knows that mercenaries are fighting for both sides which MSM has turned a blind eye on breaking International rules by Ukraine but on the other hand demonized Russia for using it's right without breaking any International rules.

ence why the Ukranians are indeed fighting for themselves, lest many simply be killed and/or imprisoned by Putins army. Or perhaps they'd simply be massacred like those at bucha.

There is many evidences which mercenaries from other european countries have came to Ukrain for fighting besides neo Nazi Ukranians which also MSM have claimed that Russia has send mercenaries to Ukraine which using mercenaries by Ukraine is against all International  signed agreements by Ukraine but on the other hand Russia has not breaked any International law about using mercenaries therefore Ukraine is real criminal but in opposition MSM is turned blind eye to crimes of Ukraine & called any mercenary as Ukranian patriots but on the other had MSM has criticized Russia for using it's right & not breaking any International law about this conflict.

Ukraine announced that some twenty thousand people from fifty-two countries had applied to fight in the newly formed International Legion of Territorial Defense of Ukraine. They reportedly include Americans, Canadians, and several European nationalities. “The whole world today is on Ukraine’s side, not only in words but in deeds,” the Foreign Minister, Dmytro Kuleba, told Ukrainian television.

France plans to send ethnic Ukrainians serving in its foreign legion to Ukraine.

Days later, the Russian Defense Minister, Sergei Shoigu, claimed that some sixteen thousand men from the Middle East had applied to fight for Russia. “As for the mercenaries from all over the world being sent to Ukraine, we see that they do not conceal it, the Western sponsors of Ukraine, the Ukrainian regime, do not hide it,” Putin said, in a meeting with his top security advisers. “That’s why if you see that there are people who are willing to come as volunteers, especially not for money, and help people residing in Donbas, well, we need to meet them halfway and assist them in moving to the combat zone.”

Great Britain, Denmark, Latvia, Poland, and Croatia legally authorized their citizens to take part in the hostilities in Ukraine, while France plans to send ethnic Ukrainians serving in its foreign legion to Ukraine as well, he continued.

"According to Zelenskyy, about 16,000 foreign mercenaries are expected to arrive in Ukraine in addition to those already available to compensate for the crushing military failures of the Ukrainian security forces. A visa-free regime is officially introduced for them," he noted.

"Last week, about 200 troops arrived in Ukraine from Croatia, they joined one of the Nazi battalions," Konashenkov added.

"Today, the military attache at the Croatian Embassy in Moscow was summoned to the Russian Defense Ministry.

"The military attache was informed of the illegal activities of a Croatian citizen Denis Sheler, who participated in the fighting in the southeast of Ukraine in 2015, forming detachments of Croatian mercenaries to be sent to Ukraine. We informed him that we are aware of the arrival in Ukraine of about 200 Croatian mercenaries," he said.

Konashenkov warned that mercenaries cannot pretend for the status of prisoners of war, "the best thing that awaits foreign mercenaries when detained is criminal prosecution."

Since Feb. 24 -- days after Russian recognition of two separatist-held enclaves in eastern Ukraine -- Russia's war on Ukraine has been met by an outcry from the international community, with the EU, UK, and US implementing a range of economic sanctions against Russia.

Russia has been further isolated after its planes have been barred from flying in European and Canadian airspace, and a number of its banks have been kicked out of the SWIFT international banking system.

Ukraine’s force recruitment and constitution also raise questions about mercenary rules—although, as we shall see, to a lesser extent than Russia’s practices. The Ukrainian government is openly recruiting irregular fighters to join militias and volunteer forces, including the International Legion of Defense of Ukraine. According to the Ukrainian government, units of international fighters formally fall under Ukraine’s regular armed forces and report to Ukrainian commanders. Russia announced it would consider foreigners fighting for Ukraine to be mercenaries. According to Russian officials, if captured, they would not be entitled to prisoner of war status.

Quote

Both Russia and Ukraine are parties to AP I. Therefore, each is bound by Article 47 in the current armed conflict. Additionally, Ukraine is a party to the 1989 International Convention Against the Recruitment, Use, Financing, and Training of Mercenaries. The 1989 Convention creates a criminal law regime for mercenarism—it identifies and defines criminal offenses, establishes rules of jurisdiction, and obligates enforcement measures. Furthermore, Article 1 of the 1989 Convention expands the AP I, Article 47 definition of “mercenary” by removing the condition that a mercenary actually take part in hostilities. Unlike AP I, the 1989 Convention criminalizes direct participation in hostilities by any person who meets the Article 1 definition.

Russia is not party to the 1989 Convention. Thus, unlike Ukraine, Russia is not subject to the Convention’s obligations, such as the requirements to criminalize mercenary offenses (Article 5), cooperate in prevention of such offenses (Article 6), and notify the UN Secretary-General of potential violations (Article 8 and Article 10).

Reports of Mercenaries in Ukraine

Russia reportedly deployed irregular fighters to rebel-held territory in Ukraine to lay the groundwork for its February 24 invasion. Although their precise use is uncertain, officials indicated these individuals may have been intended for sabotage or (ultimately unsuccessful) “false flag” operations. Other officials believe these forces were incorporated directly into local fighting forces that took part in the Russian invasion. Russia’s use of such forces before February 24 is relevant legally because the Russian invasion continues an international armed conflict waged between the two States since 2014.

Salaam everyone.

I am new to ShiaChat and am curious as to how we should view this war between Ukraine and Russia from a religious perspective. Neither country has a large Muslim population and it is mainly Non-Muslims fighting Non-Muslims.

Salam it's not just " Non-Muslims fighting Non-Muslims" which radical anti Shia groups have joined to both sides which it seems that presence anti shia groups in Ukranian side has more weight than Russian side which also  rest of anti Islam & Islamophobic radical European groups are joining  Azov neoNazi members Ukranians .

Quote

Chechen Islamic scholar Salakh Mezhiev has pronounced the Russian invasion of Ukraine a ‘jihad’, which should be fought “for the Koran, for God”, in order to save Islam and Russia against the ‘filth’ of NATO forces.2 On the other hand, Syrian jihadist group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) in Idlib has reportedly declared that “The Chechens fighting with the Russian army are apostates. They have departed from the religion of Islam, even if they claim to be Muslims who fast and perform the five daily prayers. They are siding with an enemy who openly shows enmity against Islam. Volunteering in the Russian army is blasphemy and apostasy, let alone participating in a destructive war against Ukraine”.3

Adding to this confusion is the bizarre statement of Muslim Brotherhood ideologue Dr Yasser Al-Naggar, who says that medieval Islamic jurist Ibn Hazem had allowed Muslims to join both sides of a war fought among infidels. Thus, Muslims are allowed to join either side of the Russia–Ukraine war, to pit one set of infidels against the other.4

It is also reported that Azov members are spreading their network across Europe and have reached out to the continent’s prominent right-wing movements, such as Greece's Golden Dawn, Italy’s CasaPound, Poland’s Szturmowcy, and German party Alternative For Germany (AfD).11 Other far-right extremist elements in the country are alleged to have infiltrated volunteer special forces—Dnipro1 and Dnipro2 Regiments, with the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) reported their human rights violations as far back as 2016.12

Writing for the international portal ‘World Politics Review’, Bejamin R. Young fears that Ukraine’s call for foreign fighters, “will almost certainly attract far-right extremists, who have long viewed the country as an ideal training ground to gain combat experience for the eventual ‘race wars’ they anticipate waging back home. So the West needs to be careful that it is not equipping the next generation of global white supremacist militants along with the Ukrainian military.”13

It is noteworthy that Ukraine has already lifted visa restrictions and its foreign minister Dmytro Kuleba has claimed that 52 countries have volunteered to fight in Ukraine.1

Quote

In a recently released video by Adam Osmayev, leader of the Dzhokhar Dudayev Battalion can be seen delivering the following message: “Dear Ukrainians, please do not see those people (Kadyrov’s volunteer forces) as Chechens … They are traitors … puppets of Russia.” Holding a gun along with three other masked associates, Osmayev asserts: “Real Chechens are standing with you, bleeding with you, as they have in the past eight years”.7

Meanwhile, the press bureau of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) has alleged that British and the US intelligence services are sending in non-state militants (some of them from West Asia) into Ukraine from Poland.

"I just want to kill Russians," an amiable voice says in surprisingly good English, before asking to be identified only by his military call sign "Ninja".

"The Russians," the fighter explains to Middle East Eye, "are all over Kazakhstan," the former Soviet republic in Central Asia from which he hails, and the fear of reprisals if he is captured are all too real.

There is nothing Ninja would like better than to be back in the fight, but he has a problem - his visa expired.

"The Ukrainian [Edited Out]ers deported me," he says, dismissively. "That's how this government treats foreigners who fight for them."

Most of the volunteer units have been incorporated into the regular army and national guard.

As eager as they are to fight the Russians, foreign Muslim fighters like Ninja have drawn added concern from the Ukrainian authorities. "You can say I am in the Jihad," he says chuckling.

The volunteer militias are viewed as a threat to stability and officials in Kiev have tried to rein them in. They fear foreign fighters risk staining Ukraine's image as it tries to present itself as a responsible western state that might one day join Nato and the EU.

Most of the volunteer units have been incorporated into the regular army and national guard.

As eager as they are to fight the Russians, foreign Muslim fighters like Ninja have drawn added concern from the Ukrainian authorities. "You can say I am in the Jihad," he says chuckling.

"There is one thing you have to understand, we are not only fighters, we are also Muslims and everyone is worried about the whole media ISIS or al-Qaeda [Edited Out]," he says, referring to Kiev's concern that the fighters may be portrayed as radicals.

Quote

Yevhen Hlushchenko, a Muslim cleric and military chaplain who goes by the name "Imam Abdullah", says officials in Kyiv rejected Crimean Tatars' requests to form an all-Muslim unit within the Ukrainian army - "they didn't want something with a religious or ethnic form".

"We see this as some kind of betrayal," Khai said. "Disbanding Muslim militias and other kinds of such units is hopeless, unpatriotic and untimely," especially now when Kyiv faces the risk of a fresh Russian invasion.

My comment about trapped Russians was sarcasm.

What I'm saying is that, it's quite obvious that Russian troops aren't trapped at all, and they could simply leave Ukraine.

And so, this idea that Ukraine is irrationally rejecting peace talks in order to receive more western weapons to continue fighting is simply absurd. As if Russian soldiers are somehow trapped in Ukraine, begging for a peace deal. And Ukrainians are somehow oppressors that are rejecting peace deals and are therefore somehow forcing Russian soldiers to remain in Ukraine, and to continue blowing Ukrainian cities into the ground with massacres such as those at bucha.

Such a perspective is simply twisting reality.

If Ukraine had invaded Russia, then it would make more sense to ask the question of if the west would fight to the last Ukranian. Because in such a situation, the west would be in the oppressive power seat. However, in reality, the far more powerful Russia has invaded the oppressed Ukraine, thereby placing Ukranians in a situation where they either fight, become enslaved, or die. And so the Ukranians are going to fight to the last Ukranian because they don't have a choice.

Alternatively, really we should be asking if Putin is willing to fight to the last Russian invading soldier. Because unlike the Ukranians, Putin has the power and choice to end the invasion.

What is the purpose of this narrative? It's to encourage the Ukrainians to keep fighting rather than negotiate.

Who is writing the emerging narrative that is false?  The people for whom this is a costless proxy war - because no body bags get returned to their own country.

Alternatively, Putin is pushing a narrative of his own. To keep fighting, rather than negotiate, by continuing efforts to occupy more Ukranian territory. Meanwhile Russia too is suffering heavy losses, and in some areas is rapidly losing it's occupied territory. Hence why we must ask, is Putin willing to fight to the last Russian invader? Who is pushing this Russian narrative but rich oligarchs, who aren't on the frontline, who aren't the ones losing their sons in a foreign country, who are seeking control of Ukraines natural resources? If Russia is really interested in negotiating, then why are they still pushing to capture oil and gas rich lands in Ukraine?

Some here would argue that perhaps Ukranians shouldnt have fought back at all, and perhaps should have just let Russia walk in and kill off Ukraines central government in Kyiv. Or perhaps they should have just let Russia roll into Odessa and cut off Ukraines access to the black sea,  But instead, what we see is that is that Ukraines will to fight back, is preserving their freedom, life and national sovereignty. And that's all that is happening in Ukraines drive to keep fighting, to liberate towns that are under occupation, to maintain the freedom of unoccupied lands, and to preserve lands and natural resources not yet occupied that Russia is attempting to take from them, and perhaps to even go a step further by reclaiming natural resources in contested areas.

Ukraine has every reason to fight, because it is their home and their lives, freedom, and resources that are at stake. It is very much their fight and they have good reason to keep fighting. Especially given their current track record of military successes.

What some are calling a "western narrative" is in actuality, just a will to be free. And currently, it is very much a possibility that Ukraine will continue it's military success.

When it comes down to it, I don't trust the EU, or NATO, or the US, or Putin, or Zelinsky. I think they're all corrupt and out for their own interest only. So who to believe in this situation ? I think Ukraine is being used as a pawn in an Empire game between Putin and the Western powers. The ones who are paying the price for this game, Ukranian Civilians, Russian Civilians, and the people of the world thru hyper inflation due to increase in food prices and fuel prices. I think the people of the rest of the world need to send a strong message to all named parties to '**** off' and stop using the people of the world as pawns in your games. I think this is what most of the world is saying. Unfortunately, they don't control events on the ground.

It sounds like Putin may get his wish of control of portions of Ukraine and sanction relief. Additional price hikes to wheat, as a product of wheat export blockades, opens up more options for negotiation, particularly at the expense of destitute people and famine in African and Middle Eastern countries. Guess we should all buckle up for more instability. Russia has been very effective at leveraging natural resources to gain influence. Nothing says power like cutting off heat/natural gas and food supplies.

It is insane, because it isn't meant to actually support Ukrainian efforts during this war, training personnel on much of this equipment takes several months, the Ukrainian army stockpiles are mostly made up of Soviet equipment even after what happened in 2014.

How could anyone argue that western support isn't meant to support Ukraine when western support allowed Ukraines central government to survive the Russian offensive at Kyiv?

I know I'm not the only one who saw those series of Russian defeats followed by their retreat back to Belarus. Then more recently we've seen Russia's military pushed out of Ukraine from the Kharkiv region as well.

And we also can't argue that it takes several months of training for their military to use the weapons provided because of course there is active footage of use of western provided weapons in these ongoing battles. Such as, the highly effective javelins:

Or various artillery systems:

And various types of drones, such as those provided by turkey.

There will be a deal in the end

The Guardian has been cheerleading the campaign against Russia, but their Economics Editor has a word of caution

Quote

Putin is not going to surrender unconditionally, and the potential for severe collateral damage from the economic war is obvious: falling living standards in developed countries; famine, food riots and a debt crisis in the developing world.

The atrocities committed by Russian troops mean compromising with the Kremlin is currently hard to swallow, but economic reality suggests only one thing: sooner or later a deal will be struck.

Austrian military analysis

I found this to be quite thorough and perhaps more neutral than other sources. So they do point out problems the Ukrainians are having with morale.

Another useful datapoint about objectivity - all the other media that I have come across only focus on the age of the Russian T62's now being deployed and this being a sign of how desperate they are.

This analyst says that for the conflict in Donbas, the T62 is perfect.

Kiev: Joining NATO is not possible in the short term

Arms sent to Ukraine will end up in criminal hands, says Interpol chief

Jürgen Stock urges members to cooperate on arms tracing as weapons will flood hidden economy when war ends

Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Monitoring: "Ukraine will not take any steps to join NATO because the members of this coalition have rejected its aspirations," Igor Zhukova, Deputy Chief of Staff of the President of Ukraine, told the Financial Times.

Quote

According to RIA Novosti, the official acknowledged that Kiev would not be able to join the military bloc in the short term, but expressed hope that NATO would approve the partnership.

Quote

Jürgen Stock says once the conflict ends, a wave of guns and heavy arms will flood the international market and he urged Interpol’s member states, especially those supplying weapons, to cooperate on arms tracing.

“Once the guns fall silent [in Ukraine], the illegal weapons will come. We know this from many other theatres of conflict. The criminals are even now, as we speak, focusing on them,” Stock said.

“Criminal groups try to exploit these chaotic situations and the availability of weapons, even those used by the military and including heavy weapons. These will be available on the criminal market and will create a challenge. No country or region can deal with it in isolation because these groups operate at a global level.”

Quote

Zhukova also called on NATO to recognize Ukraine's central role in European security at a forthcoming meeting in Madrid.

A meeting with NATO members is scheduled to determine the strategic direction of the organization, and a representative of Zelensky's office called for the removal of any Russian name as a partner in the military alliance and for "severe" warnings to Moscow.
"Do not hesitate, this is my call to NATO members when setting positions on Russia," the Ukrainian official added.

Russia has repeatedly stated that NATO's goal is a military conflict. Presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said further expansion of the NATO alliance would not bring more security to Europe, as NATO has an aggressive character.

Ezekiel chapters 38-39 describes an invasion of Israel. This attack is a massive coalition of nations intent on destroying Israel. The countries involved are (Biblical name in parenthesis):

Russia (Magog), Iran (Persia), several of the smaller former Soviet states (Meshech and Tubal), Ukraine (Gomer), Turkey (Togarmah), Ethiopia, and Libya.( Zioninst & Evangelist viewpoint)

Ezekiel 38:13 refers to the “young lions.” Some people believe this to be a Biblical mention of the United States.

Not only of the invaders but also of Israel. Israel will win, but it will be severely crippled.

Quote

This column is about Iran, so I do not want to spend a lot of time on Psalm 83, but the result of the battle in Psalms is devastation. Not only of the invaders but also of Israel. Israel will win, but it will be severely crippled. The actions described in Psalm 83 could be the catalyst that brings Israel, the Antichrist, and the nations of the world to the negotiating table, bringing about the treaty mentioned above and the feeling of security for Israel.

Ezekiel 38:9 talks about the invaders ascending like a storm and covering the land like a cloud. The number of troops must be overwhelming.

Ezekiel 38:13 refers to the “young lions.” Some people believe this to be a Biblical mention of the United States. There is not enough evidence to be definitive on the American connection. Still, the young lions, along with others, try to stop the attack with negotiations but are unsuccessful.

Russia’s upcoming military defeat

(Evangelist & Zaionist viewpoint)

By Pastor Tim Johnson - For The Sentinel

Quote

“President Trump colluded with Russia to win the election.” “President Trump is hard on Russia.” “Trump and Putin are friends.”

Unless you are part of the Robinson family that is stuck on a deserted island, or the Robinson family lost in space, you have probably heard those quotes recently.

Quote

When Vice President Pence was governor of Indiana, I had a five-minute conversation with him (I doubt if he remembers me), asking him if anyone in government ever looked at Bible prophecy as a source for foreign policy decisions. I used Russia and Iran as examples.

There is a coming invasion of Israel by Russia, Iran, and several others described in Ezekiel 38-39. He told me he knew of no one that looks at Biblical prophecy to make any decisions in Washington. We did not discuss the topic any further, but, from the expression on then-Governor Pence’s face, he was in deep thought.

At the time of this invasion, it appears that Israel feels safe and secure, which is not the current state of affairs. Ezekiel 38:11, “And thou shalt say, I will go up to the land of unwalled villages; I will go to them that are at rest, that dwell safely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates.”

(Compare Ezekiel 38:20-22 with Revelation 6:12-17). Israel is at rest, not in a state of constant fear of their enemies (Ezekiel 38:10-12). Since its recreation in 1948, Israel has not had a minute rest from the fear and threat of attack. However, the Bible prophecies Israel will make a treaty with the Antichrist for protection (Isaiah 28:15). Therefore, Israel may be sighing in peaceful relief for the first time in its history during the early days of the Tribulation.

Another interesting fact about this battle is, if you look at a map, there is no mention of the nations bordering Israel – Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, and Egypt. All those nations would need to be traveled through for this massive invasion party to reach its intended target. Under the current political climate, at least Lebanon and Syria would be yelling, “Wait for me!” as the invading hoards come marching through their lands.

Quote

And I will plead against him with pestilence and with blood; and I will rain upon him, and upon his bands, and upon the many people that are with him, and overflowing rain, and great hailstones, fire, and brimstone. Thus will I magnify myself, and sanctify myself, and I will be known in the eyes of many nations, and they shall know that I am the Lord.”

Russia’s and Iran’s end is not pretty, but there it is.
