Here's a Hasan narration:

Simple and concise!

The prophet ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ate meat and loved meat. There's nothing spiritual or moral about being a vegetarian. (When Halal meat is available.)

Salam for addendum  this narration  is about prohibition  of eating of flesh of a Muslim ie prohibition  of backbiting which prophet  Muhammad (pbu) & infallible  Imams  have had a balanced  diet which according  to narrations  eating of meat (meat of Sheep & hala birds)  is recommended  every three days or at least every  40 days but on the other hand eating of meat everyday  & getting addicted to eating of meat is not recommended .

Is being vegan and Muslim compatible?

You can choose to be one, but there's no spiritual or moral benefit to it.

If you're unhealthy, or have an unhealthy diet, you can temporarily try veganism, for health purposes, as it may help to reset your system.
