The Islamic understanding is that 1.) the name 'Allah' in antiquity had original monotheistic purity attached to it though-and-though...then 2.) due to the rise of Arab paganism the name became degraded as idolatrous elements crept into the understanding...3.) during Muhammad's (peace be upon him) advent he restored the concept of 'Allah' back to authentic and aboriginal Ishmaelite comprehension (ridding it of all polytheist manipulation)...all this happened over the course of thousands of years....the Evangelical opportunists seeking to propagate their agenda selectively and conveniently leave out the first phase of the history and skip to the second part to prove their case of Allah = "Moon God".

Even today Followers of Jesus in the Arab world who speak Arabic use the word Allah.  Allah, as you say, expresess the concept of monotheisim and the belief in one deity.  It is not an exclusive Islamic owned word.

As a follower of Jesus, I too am happy to say "Allahu Akhbar" - God is the greatest.

The Zebur (Psalms) repeat this theme

Psalm 73

¹³ Your ways, God, are holy.
    What god is as great as our God?
¹⁴ You are the God who performs miracles;
    you display your power among the peoples.

Psalm 86

⁸ Among the gods there is none like you, Lord;
    no deeds can compare with yours.
⁹ All the nations you have made
    will come and worship before you, Lord;
    they will bring glory to your name.
¹⁰ For you are great and do marvelous deeds;
    you alone are God.

In the Injil there is a song of praise to God's greatness Romans chapter 11

³³ Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God!
    How unsearchable his judgments,
    and his paths beyond tracing out!
³⁴ “Who has known the mind of the Lord?
    Or who has been his counselor?”
³⁵ “Who has ever given to God,
    that God should repay them?”
³⁶ For from him and through him and for him are all things.
    To him be the glory forever! Amen.

What a privilage and joy to know, love and serve such a wonderful and great God.
