:bismillah:

Salam!!

Here is the famous dua of Prophet Ibrahim (عليه السلام) in Quran:

رَبَّنَا وَابْعَثْ فِيهِمْ رَسُولًا مِنْهُمْ يَتْلُو عَلَيْهِمْ آيَاتِكَ وَيُعَلِّمُهُمُ الْكِتَابَ وَالْحِكْمَةَ وَيُزَكِّيهِمْ ۚ إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ الْعَزِيزُ الْحَكِيمُ {129}

2:129) Our Lord! and raise up in them a Messenger from among them (1) who shall recite to them Thy communications (2) and teach them the Book and the wisdom, (3) and purify them; surely Thou art the Mighty, the Wise.

Interestingly, While Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) has accepted the prayers of Ibrahim (عليه السلام) and send a Prophet like he requested but with a slight change in the sequence mentioned in Ibrahim's (عليه السلام) dua. I have inserted numbers in above quoted verse for highlighting the sequence. Now lets see the following:

62:2-3) He it is Who raised among the inhabitants of Mecca an Messenger from among themselves, (1) who recites to them His communications (2) and purifies them, (3) and teaches them the Book and the Wisdom, although they were before certainly in clear error, And others from among them who have not yet joined them; and He is the Mighty, the Wise.

The change is sequence happened in #2 & #3.

It appears that this change in sequence is perhaps related with the ism "Al-Aziz ul Hakeem" as the dua of Ibrahim (عليه السلام) ended on that ism. And this change in sequence is also serves as an evidence for those who ponder over the verses of Quran that their Lord is indeed Al-Aziz ul Hakeem.

So why Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) has placed purification prior to the teaching of book & wisdom?

Why it is necessary to get self purification prior to getting the book & the wisdom?

Lets ponder over it.

Few more related question I would like to add i.e., what relationship is there between reciting to them His communications & purification?

How is purification related with reciting the divine communications?

Also what is the difference between reciting the communications & teaching the Book and the Wisdom?

In this sequence, one can assume that the teachings of book and the wisdom can be achieved without purification.

Even the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) himself received this teachings from God Almighty.

And in chapter Najm, it is revealed:

It is also mentioned in Holy Quran that none can touch it (Quran) except the purified ones. Touch (yamassohu) in this verse possibly means the intellectual touch instead of physical touch. It should mean intellectual grasp of meaning, intellectual understanding & ta'vil of Holy Quran:

56:79

So we can see in Holy Quran the verse of purification. Where Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) mentions this:

33:33) Allah only desires to keep away the uncleanness from you, O people of the House! and to purify you a (thorough) purifying.

I think this could be the reason why "Al Aziz ul Hakeem" (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى)  has changed the sequence and put it in this way:

With this mind set, we can also get an idea of "nature of purification" which Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) has arranged for Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) as well as the nature of divine will (Innama yuredu) mentioned in the verse of purification.

There could be some other explanation, I will try to include them in my next post and will try to find the answers of rest of my questions.

Meanwhile, if you want to differ with this understanding, please notify in your comment.

Wassalam!!

33:33) Allah only desires to keep away the uncleanness from you, O people of the House! and to purify you a (thorough) purifying.

I like to add the following verses for OP and other verses of Quran:

002:151 Even as We sent to you an Messenger from among yourselves, who recites to you Our signs and purifies you, and teaches you the Book and wisdom, and teaches you what you did not know.

003:164 Allah certainly favoured the faithful when He raised up among them an Messenger from among themselves to recite to them His signs and to purify them and teach them the Book and wisdom, and earlier they had indeed been in manifest error.

062:002 It is He who sent to the unlettered [people] an Messenger from among themselves, to recite to them His signs, to purify them, and to teach them the Book and wisdom, and earlier they had indeed been in manifest error.

056:079 none can access it except the purified,

33:33    Allah only desires to keep away the uncleanness from you, O people of the House! and to purify you a (thorough) purifying.

06:125 Therefore (for) whomsoever Allah intends that He would guide him aright, He expands his breast for Islam, and (for) whomsoever He intends that He should cause him to err, He makes his breast strait and narrow as though he were ascending upwards; thus does Allah lay uncleanness on those who do not believe.

10:100   And it is not for a soul to believe except by Allah's permission; and He casts uncleanness on those who will not understand.

003:077 There shall be no share in the Hereafter for those who sell Allah’s covenant and their oaths for a paltry gain, and on the Day of Resurrection Allah will not speak to them nor will He [so much as] look at them, nor will He purify them, and there is a painful punishment for them.

013:025 But as for those who break Allah’s compact after having pledged it solemnly, and sever what Allah has commanded to be joined, and cause corruption in the earth—it is such on whom the curse will lie, and for them will be the ills of the [ultimate] abode

Thanks for quoting these verses. Interestingly here too purifying is mentioned prior to teaching or educating.

The only verse where educating mentioned prior to purifying is in the dua of Ibrahim (عليه السلام) (2:129)
