Advanced Member Abdul-Hadi Posted June 16, 2021 Advanced Member Report Share Posted June 16, 2021 How many are you drinking per day, do they contain caffeine or any sort of "energy blend"? If so, that could be the reason why you have developed a compulsion to drink them or it could just be that your body has gotten used to the high quantities of sugar, so your body needs it to feel normal. Veteran Member 313_Waiter Posted June 16, 2021 Veteran Member Report Share Posted June 16, 2021 Note: if it is compulsive / severe and you can’t stop I would recommend therapy. Hameedeh

Advanced Member Diaz Posted June 16, 2021 Advanced Member Report Share Posted June 16, 2021 Salam, I have the same problem. I started drinking diet soda, and then slowly I started with fresh juice, ofc drinking water while eating helped me stop soda. This Ramadan I didn’t have any soda, which was shocking to me xD try sparkling water they r better. Hameedeh
Advanced Member Abdul-Hadi Posted June 17, 2021 Advanced Member Report Share Posted June 17, 2021 I am almost always drinking water but in the mornings and occasionally afternoons I have some iced coffee or iced tea. I also like juice, particularly orange juice. I cannot drink grapefruit juice anymore because it interferes with one of my prescriptions and that's a bummer because grapefruit juice used to be my favorite. I am not a fan of milk. Advanced Member Abdul-Hadi Posted June 17, 2021 Advanced Member Report Share Posted June 17, 2021 I thought about getting a Bang when I went to the store a little while ago but then I remembered this thread and decided that I really didn't need one. Forum Administrators Hameedeh Posted June 17, 2021 Forum Administrators Report Share Posted June 17, 2021 How do you afford all those soda drinks? I buy two diet sodas a week. That is my limit. If I need to save money, I won't drink those two.
Advanced Member Mohamad Abdel-Hamid Posted June 17, 2021 Advanced Member Report Share Posted June 17, 2021 I actually used to drink soda quite often, I would even say almost every day. However I obviously knew that was unhealthy and decided eventually to reduce soda consumption. I rarely drink now, or only whenever I go and eat in a restaurant. But I won't lie, there are times where I crave for soda and don't think about anything except for a good cold bottle of Guaraná. At those moments I just go to the kitchen and drink a cup of water, then return to where I was, and continue thinking about that Guaraná. Aaaagh ! Don't keep any at home. That's the first step. You might probably still end up going to the store and drinking it right there (stopping that will be the next step). Make sure you drink 1.5 to 2 liters of water a day, that's very important. Avoid drinking anything else as much as possible. When you crave sugar, have a fruit (apple, orange etc) instead of something packed with artificial sugar. Try not to exceed two fruits a day. Forum Administrators Haji 2003 Posted June 18, 2021 Forum Administrators Report Share Posted June 18, 2021 This is a recipe I tried over the weekend. Boil some water and add some tablespoons of sugar. Let it cool Squeeze out some lemons (you'll work out the right quantity to taste over time). Mix the two Add carbonated/sparking water if you like fizzy. Add kala namak (translates as Himalayan black salt). This is the secret ingredient, it's very potent, only a tiny amount needed, it kills the acidity of the lemons. You can add mint if you like. It's fully natural, you can control the quantity of sugar. Hameedeh and Abdul-Hadi
