Why do people use hateful language?

A trend I've noticed is that whenever people disagree, or something is done to someone, or when two people just don't get along, people resort variants of, "Hope you are cursed. Hope you rot and hell and turn fat and ugly. You are scum and don't deserve anything good in life." The question is: why? Why do they go overboard with hateful language? It's excessive and it's silly. Why curse each other when we can have empathy for one another?

Because sadly that's another thing has become normal part of society or existed within some cultures and families.

Because they have no more compelling argumentes, so when you have nothing else to say, and you're losing your agument, and you're so arrogant that you won't admit you're losing, what do you do ? Use hateful language, of course ! Reminds me of this meme:

White people when they're losing an argument online - iFunny :)

People in the millennial (my) can't realize that their opinion simply isn't worth that much, so when they have an opinion and someone comes along and contradicts it in a clear & logical way, instead or reexamining their position, they become defensive because they were always taught by parents and teacher that their feelings are the only thing that is real. Challenging these feelings in a way that makes them realize this, makes them uncomfortable and thus they become nasty.
