Salam.

Somebody just showed me his video, complaining about the extremism of both sunnis and shias. He was giving a few examples from ghulat amongst the shia and wahhabi amongst sunnis. The clip was informative and teaching.

But before I share it with friends and on websites, could you tell me about his political views? Is he a pro wilayat al faqih? Iran and resistance front. I hope so. Thanks.

Why do u want to know his political view? Not sure about before but now he doesn’t support any political parties in Lebanon.

He and everybody else can have different views on which party they support. It really doesn't matter to me. But what matters to me is that if he is pro-Hezbollah (as a millitary group) and Iran and the resistance front. I only want to spread the word for the pro-resistance front scholars. Be them sunnis or shiites.

I don’t know, never seen him praising Hezbollah or Iran.

I see. Thanks anyway.

Personally I prefer sunni scholars such as the late Sheikh Saeed Shaban, Dr. Fathi Yakan.. And current sunni leaders such as Sheikh Mahir Hammoud, Sheikh Sohaib Habli, Sheikh Bilal Shaban.. etc. over let's say Tofayli and others. And I hope Sheikh Yasser Awdeh won't be like Tofayli.

I think Sheikh Awdeh is more like a spiritual leader, right?

I think I will begin to watch his lectures on the biography of Prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)

Thanks.

You’re welcome. Let’s wait for others to reply, maybe he is pro Hezbollah but I’ve never seen him praising them. Even if he isn’t, he is a good sheikh and I’m glad u r planning to watch his lectures.

Lying during Ramadan? That obviously isn't true. But he does consider WF to be a political system not a religious one and doesn't want it in Lebanon

Not following marja and khums doesn't make one anti-wilayat al faqih. Akhbaris are against Taqleed and khums to non-Ma'soom.

You just my words with your style which this is his singular  viewpoint  but others belive  that WF whether runs by a single person  or by a council is both of religious & political  system toghether  also I said my conclusion  about himself not his idea about system of  government in Lebanon.

He is an Usuli but he is against any system of Marjas which WF is one of Marja systems.

Sometimes we see it only as Pro Wilayat al Faqih or Anti WF. However, the one who does not support or follow WF, doesn't mean they must be anti WF. They might as well not be working against the Wilayat al Faqih. Being anti in this case means working against it. Just like the Shirazi  is doing. But amongst those who do not follow WF, few of them are anti WF.

Anyway. Wikipedia says Sheikh Awdeh is one of the students of the late Grand Ayatollah Fadlallah ((رضي الله عنه)). So he must be a pro WF, Hizballah and the resistance front. But then again, God knows our future. May He keep us on the path.

The video above by him is a great inspiration for all. For both the sunnis and the shias. And it is definitely the proof of him being usouli. He says "use your mind. Not all narrations are correct. Cleanse your sunni and shia madhab from these superstitions". I hope someone subtitles it into English.

Salam brother, like I said he is not pro Hezbollah or WF, just because he is the student of sayid fadlallah doesn’t mean he is.

One might defend secularism in specific times or places IF the ground is not prepared for the implementation of Sharia. By the ground, I mean, the future implementors of sharia. Meaning that if the people will aplly it wrong and cause more damage and backfire.

Islamic Revolution in Iran is the product of centuries of talks of the shiite muslim scholars on Islamic governance, Islamic Jurisprudence, Islamic laws, Islamic economy, Islamic millitary-defence... etc. That's why it is the only Islamic revolution that is still standing today. I mean Iranian Scholars studied history, politics, economy and taught the correct way. They interacted with the sunni Islamic movements. For instance, Imam Ali Khamenei translated Egyptian Sunni scholar, Syed Qotb's books and Quran commentary (Fi Zilal) into Persian. They interacted with Jamaat Islam of Pakistan, Muslim Brotherhood of Egypt. And with the shia Islamic outlook they have, they designed the best way now.

However, the Islamic Movements today in other Muslim countries, failed and will fail, if they do not do the same. If they do not go to Iran and study and learn how they are making it work. They might benefit from Iran and go back to their countries and after decades, when their community is ready, they can have sunni version of the Islamic Iran in their own countries.

If not, we will see other instances of Saudi Arabia or even God forbid, terrorism such as Boko Haram, ISIS etc. So, when some scholars support secularism in specific countries, it might be that they think both the pro-sharia and the secular people are not ready yet (meaning that they do not know about Islamic Governance, economy, education system, etc.) So, they don't want another ISIS or its natural backfire-reaction: people keeping away from the term of sharia just because they witness its false implementation.

So, it might be that he thinks the Lebanese people are not ready yet. And he doesn't want some other secular-godless regime such as Turkey, Jordan etc. use the pro sharia people in Lebanon and ruin the country, just like they did it in Syria and Iraq.

Here's a Palestinian Sunni scholar, Dr. Adnan Ibrahim talking about this very same issue. He says that "the kind and humble law-abiding citizens in secular states are now eating hearts in Syria using the name of sharia"

https://www.facebook.com/YolunaCanKurbanYaAlias/videos/1024632047597704

It doesn't mean Dr. Adnan Ibrahim supports secularism. It means he doesn't support a so-called Revolution-Spring before people correct their mindset and have talks, design a system just like Iran did it for decades before the Islamic Revolution in 1979.

You obviously don't have a clue what you are talking about, he obviously believes in taqlid and has stated so many times.

As for his view on WF, he isn't alone in holding such a view.

I have personally not witnessed his stance on the ghulaat or those that talk nonsense on the minbar, but what I can say is this:

He holds deviant views in order to pander to the mukhalifeen. He "respects" those who fought and usurped the right of Imam Ali (عليه السلام), and he who does not have bara'ah from the enemies of Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) and the enemies of his awliyaa (عليه السلام) does not have the wilayah of Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) and his awliyaa (عليه السلام).

And Ismai'l Al-Ju'fi asked Al-Baqir (as): A man loves Ameer Al-Mu'mineen (عليه السلام), but does not disassociate from his enemy, so he (عليه السلام) replied: "He is a confused person, therefore an enemy, and do not pray behind him except through taqiya"

Al-Tahdheeb, by Al-Tusi (rah).

Well, we have witnessed it. He talks about the ghulat/extremists and their doings. I showed you the video. And it is not taqiyya or anything. He criticizes the extremists of both sunnis and shias. And he says, even if you cut me into pieces, I will tell you the truth. And he quotes a Peophetic hadith about the need for scholars to speak out when biddahs are introduced in the ummah. So, he speaks up against the biddah of shia and sunni extremists.

British Shiism (the false version of the orthodox shia, acting by the orders of the MI6) and American Sunnism (the false version of the orthodox sunni, acting by the orders of the CIA and Saud) are the same thing. And, the video criticizes both and says; "If you are a shia, stay as a shia. And it is the right way. But cleanse your sect from these new innovations/extremism." and "If you are a sunni, stay as a sunni. But cleanse your sect from these new innovations/extremism."

The video is a must watch indeed.

That is pretty much all he talks about, even by my standards he has an unhealthy obsession with the ghulat lol

I like him, but I don't think he is a great academic or anything, but we definitely need more like him, people need to see that there is a different face to tashayyu' other than the one presented by all these idiotic turbans running around who dominated the air waves.

There is another student of sayed Fadlallah, shaykh Husayn 'Abdallah who is good as well.

The best is the Lebanese shaykh Haydar Hubballah.

Everyone you mentioned is weak when it comes to bara'ah against the enemies of Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) and their followers.

Our classical scholars were the biggest enemies of the ghulat, may Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) curse them, but one thing they didn't do is pander to our opponents.

I hope the word in bold is not what my English to Turkish dictionary is saying. Because what it is saying is sick.

And in shia Islam we do tabarrah against the enemies of God and Prophet and Ahlulbayt. But we do not do tabarrah against the followers of those wrongdoes. Because most of the time, the enemies of the Prophet and Ahlulbayt are doing it knowingly but their followers are doing it unknowingly. The hujjah upon them are not complete and we must present the hujjah/proof with humble and loving manner.

Anyway, I am trying to subtitle the video now in English. I will upload it soon and I hope you guys excuse my mistakes in translation.

Can you type these scholars names in Arabic here? Because when I type them (probably I am typing wrong) I don't see any results. Thanks.
