Why does the descent of angels signify punishment in the Qur’an?

:salam:

“We send not the angels down except for just cause: if they came (to the ungodly), behold! no respite would they have!” (15:8)

Is it:

  • because if the angels would be sent down and made visible to the disbelievers they would consider them mere humans and thus incur the wrath of God?
  • because there would be no doubt in the truth of Islam as the disbelievers have seen the unseen and thus shall be given no respite (like Pharaoh in his moment of death? For this option, I would say how does this differ from miracles (like moon splitting)? Is it that miracles still leave some shubuhāt in the heart of the person and thus faith is still required?
  • another option?

Jazakallah Khayr

Another option from the person who believes there is a creator and creation......

This world is a test; it is our last chance to restore ourselves back into God's kingdom by denouncing idol worship. If God and His angels show up,  everyone will believe, and the test will no longer be valid.

If this is the correct interpretation, is this why psychedelics are jurisprudentially impermissible? We have many people describing wahdat al wujud subsequent to taking psychedelics like Ayahuasca and DMT (realising the divine Unity). So are these people sinning and will they be culpable in the hereafter? Here is one example (don’t research him any more as you will see weird things):

Conversely, we have examples of people naturally reaching such states of consciousness through spiritual practice where they see angels.

Here it doesnt signify punishment but perhaps it’s because we are not seeing them:

Quote

“That night the angels and the ˹holy˺ spirit descend, by the permission of their Lord, for every ˹decreed˺ matter (min kulli ‘amr)” (97:4)

Discard all traditional standards. Leave them to hypocrite. Only what liberates you from desire and fear is good. As long as you worry about sin and virtue you will have no peace.

But what about the two wings of fear and hope mentioned in traditions

Shouldnt one desire to get closer to Pure Being and fear straying from the right path

There is a reason why drugs is haram --> they mess with your head. Now DMT and ayahuasca are maybe not necessarily harmful to the "health" and pysche but they tend to come with weird experiences that influence your behavior and convictions. Supposedly shamans and other old magicians used these drugs to communicate with interdimensional beings (djinns basically) and coincidentally (no really coincidence lol) these "beings" always carry the same gnostic message of how humans are bad, save-the-planet empty words, basically waswas x100.

For someone to get closer to truth he/she has to resort to revelation(Quran,..) and reason only, not drugs (however good they made you feel).

As long as there is desire-- which is the absence of discrimination--
there will be attachment and non-attachment.
This is the cause of the world.
Those who desire pleasure and those who desire nearness to Allah are both common in the world.
Rare is the great soul who desires neither enjoyment nor liberation.

No.

Neither i can say that i am trying for it, because the trying is the problem. You are trying to do the impossible. Trying is impossible to do. Can You ever do anything other than what You are doing?
Try. It is foolishness! Trying is only the belief that the present is somehow incomplete. All that is done is done completely. Only ideas can be incomplete. The mind is simply playing a game with itself, creating and destroying problems.
