Alcohol ban

Quote

Fifa has confirmed alcohol will be banned for World Cup fans at grounds in a major and unprecedented volte-face just two days before the tournament will kick off in Qatar. The news that it will not be sold inside or around the perimeter of stadiums was confirmed by Fifa in a terse statement on Friday afternoon.

I thought that Qatar would get killed by Netherlands, would buy off Senegal and wasn't sure about Ecuador. So if they lose this, they won't make it past the group stage.

Full of corruption and bribing, killing innocent migrant workers and there is even slavery allegations. Extravagant cost of about US$220 billion.

Yes, Forbes magazine has a full article on the cost side here:

Qatar is estimated to have spent as much as $220 billion in the dozen years since being chosen as a World Cup host in late 2010, more than 15 times what Russia spent for the 2018 event.

Not too far from Qatar is this relief in Persepolis. These people were figuratively the great grand daddies of the present day Qataris bringing tribute to the Archaemenid rulers of Persia. All that's changed is the people to whom the Qataris pay tribute - they live further to the west.

Nothing happens in Qatar without Royal approval

Westerners have opened a Pandora's box ...

Some Zionists are replying that if Qataris love Muslims so much why don't they pay the Pak/indian/Bengali workers more?

Fair criticism.

Salam , This is escape to forward because majority of constructor companies which have enslaved the Pak/indian/Bengali workers have been zionist constructors which they have registered as Arab companies specially in UAE  which through UAE they have made contrcts with Qatar royal family in order to hide their identity as Zionist companies which people must ask from Zionist constructor companies which how they have looted Qatar & stolen  real payment of the Pak/indian/Bengali workers  .

Israelis and Palestinians to fly together to the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™

Israeli TV reporters at World Cup get cold shoulder from some Arab fans

Israeli reporters faking identity at World Cup to avoid rejection

Eli Ohana, an Israeli journalist who traveled to Qatar to cover the World Cup, had to tell a Qatari law enforcer he was Portuguese to avoid an anti-normalization backlash.

Direct charter flights will be temporarily operated between Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv and Hamad International Airport in Doha by an airline with existing landing rights in Qatar for the duration of the FIFA World Cup™, subject to Israel's security requirements and operational capabilities. More details will be announced in due course. Visitors will need a registered Hayya (the fan ID required for entry into Qatar during the tournament) and have a valid flight ticket to travel to and from Qatar.

Quote

A spokesperson for Q22 said: "Since winning the rights to host the FIFA World Cup 2022, we have always said that all ticket holders will be able to attend matches in Qatar. The announcement today illustrates our commitment to respecting FIFA's policies and hosting requirements including the right of everyone to attend matches. This also includes the requirement that Palestinian ticket holders and media are able to travel on these chartered flights with no restrictions as they have an equal right to enjoy the tournament, which is made extra special by it being the first World Cup to be hosted in the Arab and Muslim world. The FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 is on course to leave a positive legacy on Qatar, the Middle East and the Arab world, and with 2.9 million of the three million tickets now sold, we look forward to welcoming fans from around the globe."

Quote

Director General of the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Alon Ushpiz, said: "Today's announcement will allow Israeli citizens to freely travel to Qatar and attend matches at the World Cup. We have successfully secured all guarantees, including access to consular services for Israelis during their stay in Qatar. As the first World Cup ever hosted in the Middle East, it promises to be a celebration of football and an opportunity for Israelis to build connections and share cultural experiences with people from across our region and the wider world."

In one of the most viewed examples of such exchanges, an Israeli reporter approached three Lebanese football fans.

“Hi, how are you?” he asked in Arabic. “Are you Lebanese? I’m Israeli.”

The Lebanese group immediately turned and walked away.

“It’s Palestine,” one of them yelled back as he retreated.

Lebanon does not formally recognise Israel and the two countries have been in a technical state of war since 1948 — the year Israel was declared a state after the forced displacement of Palestinians from their land. That mass exodus of Palestinians is referred to as the ‘Nakba’, or catastrophe, to Arabs, and the ‘War of Independence’ to Israelis. Lebanon's citizens are forbidden by law from associating with Israelis.

Versions of such exchanges have made it all over social media, with Israeli reporters repeatedly shunned by Arab fans upon finding out they are being interviewed for Israeli TV.

He broadcast a clip to illustrate his point: “Hi, I’m Israeli,” he says in the video.

“There’s no Israel. There’s Palestine,” a man cloaked in the flag of Palestine replies. “Palestine! Palestine!”

“Facts on the ground,” Mr Hamo yells over the fan. “Facts on the ground. Facts on the ground. Israel is here until the day of judgment.”

In another video, an Israeli reporter seemingly finds a willing participant — an Egyptian fan who has agreed to be interviewed on TV.

“We are together,” the reporter says into the mic. “We’re happy.”

The journalist moves the mic near the Egyptian man. The fan grins mischievously.

“Viva Palestine.”

He added that the decision came as an estimated 10,000 Jewish fans from Israel and other countries are expected to travel to Qatar to watch the quadrennial sporting event.

"The World Cup should serve as a unifying event for all sports fans, regardless of religious affiliation, who come together because of their love of sports," Lauder said, as he called on Qatari authorities "to safeguard the ability of Jewish fans to openly practise their faith."

In the video, Ohana is seen riding a golf cart with a Qatari policeman. The latter asked him where he came from, and Ohana responded that he was from "Israel".

The Qatari replied, "Are you sure you're from Israel? You're kidding me!"

Ohana, who initially admitted to covering the event for Israeli media, said he was "joking" and that he "came from Portugal."

The Qatari policeman replied, "If you were from Israel, I would have stopped, and I would drop you off and go back."

In another instance, Yedioth Ahronoth reporter Raz Shechnik claimed he was Ecuadorian after an Egyptian fan unmasked him being an Israeli from the microphone's badge in front of the Lusail stadium in Qatar.

"Where are you from?" the Egyptian fan asked him. Shechnik answered, "Equador, Equador Tv," showing him his wristband.

"No this is not Equadori language," the fan said. The reporter insisted that it was Equador, only for the fan to insist that Palestine is free. "No, free Palestine," he continued to say, forcing Shechnik to walk away, saying yes Palestine is free.

World Cup Fans Snub Israeli Reporters

Quote

In August, junior Lebanese chess champion Nadia Fawaz decided to quit the 28th edition of Abu Dhabi International Chess Festival in the United Arab Emirates to avoid facing an Israeli opponent.

Also around the same time, Iraqi tennis stars Nasr Mahdi and Mohammad al-Mahdi pulled out of the Bucharest Open Wheelchair Tennis Tournament 2022 in Romania to avoid playing against Israeli competitors.

Back in July, the Palestinian Information Center reported that Jordanian taekwondo fighter Maysir al-Dahamsheh had shunned a face-off against an Israeli rival at the 2022 World Taekwondo Cadet & Junior Championships in the Bulgarian capital city of Sofia.

‘We are all Palestinians’

The Palestinian flag has been accompanying fans from different countries and backgrounds throughout the past few days in Qatar.
