Salaam sister,

Want to take my mum on Haj inshallah.

Please do pray. And I will pray that you successfully complete your degree inshallah.

May Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) bless you and elevate you in terms of knowledge.

Thank you for your prayers. May Allah bless you.

I'll pray for you and your mom. In fact, I'm new to praying so I write down the names of people (whom I hear from on this website) so that I don't forget about their issues when I'm praying.  I know it sounds silly, but it keeps me from forgetting! LOL

I don't know if this a good idea, but I lump them all together lol. Instead of saying "Please help my Mom and my Dad and my Brother and my Sister and my Uncle and my Aunt," I say "Please help my family" and I might add a "In particular my parents and my siblings." For the people on the internet I say "Please help those who have asked for my prayers and those who have shared their woes on Shiachat."

I don't know if there is a difference, it might be better to go through them one by one. I hope someone can weigh in with their opinion.

Ziyaraats with my family. I have been praying everyday, several times a day for the last many years.

yes, I believe it's just a matter of people's personal style. Our prayers reach God anyways even if we saying nothing and remain silent and even when we forget the names of people whom we had to pray to. I think the reason I take people's name individually is that doing so  allows me for a moment to remember their situation, and to kind of empathize with them- and thus to send a more heartfelt  prayer to God.

My goal for this year is to finish (or move forward in) the projects that I've already started.

May God grant you the determination, focus, strength and the blessings you need to accomplish that.

May God help you with that. I know of many people who have been to shrive visitations, and they tell me that they experience an indescribable sense of bliss, peace (while at shrines) and a great ease in their worldly matters  (when they return to their homes.

Indeed. Everyone should make it top priority after wajibaats.

The only serious thing l can think of is the obvious: To come safely through on the Last Day.

Salam brothers and sisters,

So what are your new year resolutions? Name one thing you desperately hope/wish to achieve in 2021. What keeps you motivated in this new year?

Let me start with myself: I am hoping to continue my education (start a new degree) that I couldn't start (partly due to financial reasons) due to Covid.

Wa alykum al Salam wa Rahmat Allah

I want to do Hajj and visit Madinah in the process. Imam Al Mahdi (عليه السلام) can be seen in Hajj.

Get a job!

It's been almost 2 years since I graduated as an honor student and top of my class and I still can't get a job in Iraq :(

I feel humiliated to be almost 25 and living off of support from my parents. At this rate I couldn't get married and start a family at all

God bless you brother. I really hope your situation will improve Inshalla.

Salam, in Nahjul Balagha you will find Imam Ali (عليه السلام) repeatedly advising people to not worry too much about sustenance.

All of you are dependents of Allah and Allah (glory be to him) takes care of his dependents. - Imam Ali (عليه السلام)

I read in another thread that you have a degree in computer science and programming. Have you looked at freelance work available online? There are websites like freelancer.com that have lots of computer and programming related jobs.

There is a dua by Imam Jafar Sadiq(عليه السلام) for rizq to be recited after Isha prayers. May Allah bless you with plentiful rizq soon.

Online work pays very badly because Indians and Pakistanis dominate it and thus they bring the wages down (you can get an indian to make you a website for $5)

this just shows  that there is massive poverty in India and Pakistan, probably their situation is worse than that of Iraq!
