HALAL OR NOT HALAL TO EAT?

It is permissible to eat food from a restaurant in the west that serves HALAL meat but also serves NON-HALAL meat too at the same time? The restaurant has advised that their chefs are mindful of the HALAL and NON-HALAL meat not cross contaminating? 

Can someone direct me to a page or a marja that can answer this question?

If the same thing that cooks the haram meat is also used for the halal meat, without being washed prior to cooking the halal meat, then the halal meat will become najis and, hence, it needs to be washed before being eaten. If you are not certain or rationally confident (through rational and reasonable means) whether the halal meat has become impure you can consider it to be pure and no investigation is necessary even if there is a very high probability that the meat is impure.

Here are few hadeeth from wasaail ash shi'a,

(30368) 6 - وعنه عن فضالة عن العلاء عن محمد بن مسلم عن احدهما (عليهما السلام) قال: سألته عن عن آنية اهل الكتاب ؟ فقال: لا تأكلوا في آنيتهم، إذا كانوا ياكلون فيه الميتة والدم ولحم الخنزير.  

H 30368 – And from him, from Fazalat, from Al A’ala, from Muhammad Bin Muslim, who has narrated: 

‘One of them (Imam) (asws), said, ‘I asked about the containers of the people of the Book?’ He (asws) said: ‘Do not eat in their containers, if they used to eat from them the dead (non-Halal), and the blood and flesh of the swine’. 

 

(30370) 8 - وعن محمد بن عيسى اليقطينى عن صفوان بن يحيى عن موسى بن بكر عن زرارة عن أبي عبد الله (عليه السلام) في آنية المجوس فقال: إذا اضطررتم إليها فاغسلوها بالماء.  

H 30370 – And from Muhammad Bin Isa Al Yaqteeny, from Safwaan Bin Yahya, from Muha Bin Bakr, from Zarara, who has narrated:  

‘Abu Abdullah (asws) regarding the containers of the Magians. The Imam (asws) said: ‘If it is necessary, so wash it with the water’.  

 

(30364) 2 - وباسناده عن زرارة عن الصادق (عليه السلام) انه قال في آنية المجوس: إذا اضطررتم إليها فاغسلوها بالماء. 

H 30364 – And by his chain from Zarara, who has reported the following: 

‘Al-Sadiq (asws) having said regarding the containers of the Magians: ‘If it is necessary for you, so wash it with the water’. 

 

(30360) 3 - وبالاسناد عن على بن الحكم عن معاوية بن وهب عن زكريا بن ابراهيم قال: كنت نصرانيا فاسلمت فقلت لابي عبد الله (عليه السلام): ان اهل بيتى على دين النصرانية فاكون معهم في بيت واحد وآكل من آنيتهم ؟ فقال لى (عليه السلام): أيأكلون لحم الخنزير ؟ قلت لا. قال: لا بأس.  

H 30360 – And by the chain from Ali Bin Al Hakam, from Muawiya Bin Wahab, from Zakariya Bin Ibrahim who said: 

‘I used to be a Christian, and I embraced Islam. So I said to Abu Abdullah (asws), ‘The members of my family are on the Christian religion. I am among them in one house, can I eat from their vessels?’ He (asws) said to me: ‘Are they eating the flesh of the swine?’ I said, ‘No’. The Imam (asws) said: ‘There is no problem’.  

 

(30365) 3 - محمد بن يعقوب عن محمد بن يحيى عن أحمد بن محمد عن ابن محبوب عن العلاء بن رزين عن محمد بن مسلم قال: سألت أبا جعفر (عليه السلام) عن آنية اهل الذمة والمجوسي ؟ فقال: لا تأكلوا في آنيتهم ولا من طعامهم الذى يطبخون ولا في آنيتهم التى يشربون فيها الخمر. 

H 30365 – Muhammad Bin Yaqoub, from Muhammad Bin Yahya, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad, from Ibn Mahboub, from Al A’ala Bin Razeyn, from Muhammad Bin Muslim who said,  

‘I asked Abu Ja’far (asws) about the containers of the ‘Ahl Al-Dhimma’ (Jews and Christians under the protection of the Muslims) and the Magians? He (asws) said: ‘Do not eat from their containers, nor from their food which they have cooked, nor in the containers from which they have drunk the intoxicant (alcohol)’.
