People only get tested if they either have symptoms or have been in close contact with a person who tested positive. Seems to me that false positives are self-limiting.

My concern is the number of daily covid19 cases reported and not the number of patients being treated in hospitals. Sorry if i've given the wrong signal.

No, It's okay. I agree with you. There would definitely be many false positive cases. What I was saying is even if we look at numbers of hospital cases that alone is also significant raised. China, Iran, Spain, Italy, UK, US and now Pakistan and India all reached a point where there hospitals and ICUs were fully occupied.

Being SC a highly moderated community, I don't know why they let such harmful ignorant discourse (that is proven that has translated into higher death numbers) to freely take place in the public forums.

Seriously, this is an ethical problem in itself. Many of us have lost relatives due to this pandemic.

Yeah, somebody once wrote on Reddit that the type of people who tend to think COVID-19 is a hoax are highly egoistical people and think very highly of themselves; That is why they latch onto the conspiracy theories, because they want to feel "special" or somehow smarter than the "sheeple".  And for what?  People are dying in the worst way possible, and yet they continue to deny, dispute and debate over a subject they either don't understand or they are purposely misconstruing/lying about the pandemic, for a free ego boost. I have family that almost died from COVID-19, they are doing well, alhamdullilah but it will be interesting to see what happens to them five years from now, I suspect they aren't out of the woods yet. It didn't stop the others from denying COVID-19 or wanting to make the pandemic political.

At this point in time, Bakir, this isn't even an ethical issue anymore, this is a moral issue now; Being against vaccinations is not only unethical, it is immoral. It is immoral to play around with people's lives by casting doubt about COVID-19, vaccines, curfews or mandatory masking. Why? Because lying is immoral and a sin; it is one thing if someone doesn't know any better but it is quite another to mislead someone else and then that person dies as result. The anti-vaxxers don't care about anybody but themselves, that's as selfish and cold-blooded as people come. They don't value life, they and their conspiracies are more important.

Quote

وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ لَا تُفْسِدُوا۟ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّمَا نَحْنُ مُصْلِحُونَ

^  I see no difference with "And when it is said to them, "Do not cause corruption on the earth," they say, "We are but reformers." and saying "Don't spread lies" and anti-vaxxers going "I'm only speaking the truth/raising awareness on vaccines". The same thing, spreading conspiracies and doubts on the vaccinations/ medical advice/mandatory masking should be considered as fasad.

The Qur'an has even touched on what I'm saying:

Quote

"O you who have believed, if there comes to you a disobedient one with information, investigate, lest you harm a people out of ignorance and become, over what you have done, regretful." For anyone, lying and causing someone to pay the ultimate price for their lie is something to be extremely remorseful about. Again, many of these anti-vaxxers don't care: They just want to argue and debate for sake of potentially a few hundred thousand lives and are willing to die on that proverbial hill.

My father died recently of covid and my mother is doubtful about the AZ vaccine due to the alarmism regarding the potentially lethal secondary effects (even though the % in which these effects take place are minimal). She can't be safe forever, the virus is definitely out of control and mutating. We can just rely on effective vaccines so far...

My condolences, as long as she has you and gets the AZ vaccine, Bakir, she will definitely stay safe. The alarmism surrounding vaccinations is irrational and reactionary, this is a moment in history being skeptical does more harm than good: People are constantly bombarded with information on the Internet, with no way of being able to discern reliable reports versus sensationalist reports.  Nobody is going to actively research every paper on vaccinology on the Internet, they don't have the necessary skills to effectively research papers.

"But I know and remember everything I read", there is more to research than pulling simply reading or copying and pasting a link and calling it a day, again, anti-vaxxers are by default, egoistical and with an inflated sense of self-worth. Blinded by their arrogance, I don't quite understand where such thoughts are born in the human mind and psyche.

I have already taken the vaccine - I wan't going to do so but then my brother caught COVID and nearly died - so I decided to take it. I know many who will not - but I did - trusting God that in HIs wisdom He allowed the vaccines to be developed for the good of people created in His image - for He gives us all good things to enjoy, including things like vaccines.

If you are a male, would you rather not get the vaccine and run the risk to get covid-19 infection and be hospitalized and almost die, then recover and find out 6 months later you have erectile dysfunction? See The World Journal of Men's Health:

Getting vaccinated is the best way to avoid developing COVID-19 and the potential for long-term side effects, including heart disease, diabetes, and kidney complications.

According to bbc, this is a list of some countries ordering COVID vaccine, I still don’t know why uk, Canada, Australia and USA ordered this much of the vaccine.

From what I have heard, vaccines have an expiration date. When some lots expire, new ones need to be ordered and delivered.

Why is the vaccine the only way out? We have an immune system to fight off various diseases. Majority of vaccines are dangerous and contain all sorts of toxic ingredients in them. Sars-Cov2 has never been properly purified and isolated, so what are you vaccinating against exactly? The so-called 'covid' deaths are all massively inflated to justify the illegal lockdowns. It's like everyone only dies of covid anymore and nothing else!

In the US, now, we have had more than 100 million people vaccinated against Covid 19. The cases of people having severe side effects is less than 100. That means you have a less than 1 in 1,000,000 chance of having bad consequences from the vaccine. What does that tell you ? If they were 'full of toxic ingredients', you would have alot more people having side effects. We need to look at the clear evidence.

In the US, before the vaccine was available, you had approx a 1 in 700 chance of getting COVID and dying from it vs now a less than 1 in 1,000,000 chance of having bad side effects from the vaccine. So which is more dangerous ? Covid or the vaccine ?

People in general have difficulties understanding numbers and probabilities, and only see what they want to see. The same people who dismissively talk about a “99% recovery rate” (which is actually a little low considering the high rate of transmission) are the same ones who over exaggerate about 1 in 1000000 chance of a vaccine side effect, or whatever ridiculously low number it is, pretending it’s more pervasive than it really is.

If you’re willing to go in a car, then a vaccine is significantly safer than that.

That's why I didn't say getting it and recovering. There are, as of today, 592,000 deaths from Covid in the US, with a population of 328 million, as of the latest census. So your chances are 1/ 554.08 to be precise of dying of Covid. Your chances of getting Covid and recovering are probably 1/10, or 10% since approx 10% of the US population tested positive for Covid at some point this year or last year. Obviously more people had the disease because not everyone was tested for Covid. The recovery rate was approx 98.3%. So approx 99% of people did recover and not die. But still, more than 1% did die.

So you are taking a much greater risk by risking getting Covid (approx 1% death rate) vs getting the Vaccine (a %.0001 death rate).

BTW, in other countries, like India, where the availability of medical care is very scarce compared to the US, I have heard that the death rate from Covid is 3-4%. This is thru estimates from non biased sources as the Indian government is not reporting most of the Covid deaths.

There is a reason why certain countries have banned or discouraged the AstraZeneca/Oxford vaccine from being given to under 50s.

The benefits heavily outweigh the benefits for those who are at risk of death and hospitalisation from Covid (over 50s), but ultimately it isn't that beneficial for say, a healthy 23 year old man.

Ugh, someone in the place where I live is spreading rumors, saying that if men took the vaccine they will get erectile dysfunction. Now my father and his friends no longer want to take the vaccine, what should I do?

They are wrong. Read the posts above. Men who get Covid-19 infection and are hospitalized and deathly ill can develop erectile dysfunction. Getting the vaccine prevents Covid-19 infection and reduces the risk of subsequent health problems.

Health experts and maraj'a have issued the advice that vaccination is mandatory / necessary. Then for a follower and a man with thoughtful mind leaves no room except to prevent hims self and family by taking COVID-19 vaccine.

I had to check but I'm pretty sure astra, pfeizer, moderna all have a time-window. Moderna being the longest with 4 weeks. Because of it's higher potency. Never heard of one that transcends 3 months! Perhaps they meant 3 weeks which makes sense for your 21 days?

I already got both doses of the Pfizer vaccine and I am fine. I was sleepy for about a day after each dose, so I took a lot of naps, but now I am fine: no magnets are sticking to my arms or anything, truly.

Talk to your doctor before you decide to get it though, as it has not yet been approved by the FDA. I was hesitant to get it at first, but when I saw that my mother and sister had no complications from it, I decided that getting it was the best course of action and now I do not have to wear a mask and have foggy glasses anymore.
