Charity to drug addicts/prostitutes/homeless

Where I live there are a number of homeless people in the streets, many of which are drug addicted, prostitutes, mentally ill, etc.

I like to give charity in real life with my own hands because I can see the improvement that I am making in someone's life. And even drug addicts and prostitutes feel hunger. But my parents are strongly against me giving homeless people charity because they have a stigma against them.

Is it better for me to give these people charity (food, i never give money lol) or for me to donate to impoverished countries online through charity organizations?

Me personally I don’t like giving money as many do end up spending on cigarettes,alcohol,drugs. Food is good to offer. may Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) reward you 

 

Imam al-Sadiq ((عليه السلام).) said, ‘One of the things which gives one obligatory entrance into Paradise and forgiveness is feeding a starving person’, then he went on to recite the verse of Allah in the Qur’an: “or feeding [the needy] on a day of starvation.”[al-Mahasin, v. 2, p. 145, no. 1381]
