Salaam Aleikum,

Is seeking scientific knowledge in universities for sake of Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) part of worship and will the person get any rewards in hereafter for gaining scientific knowledge? When seeking this knowledge, he needs most of the time to study it, would all that study time be  rewarded and also be part of remembering Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى)?

What our Prophet (saws) and Imams (عليه السلام) says about this secondary knowledge? Do they recommend us to seek it?

W salam

I think seeking knowledge is very good, even though it depends on what kind of knowledge you are seeking, what you learn... What are the surroundings... What difference it brings in you as a human being... What you plan to do with your studies... Does it make you Humble or Arrogant... That is very big point because many people seek knowledge just for worldly things. The more they know the more they think about themselves. The bigger they feel to be.

But the reward i think starts with What you actually do with all the knowledge you have accumulated in your life. The good you do to others... Or the good that comes to others lives through you. So that's what matters.

And before trying to apply things to others one should always start to bring change inside themselves. That's where everything should start.

I know people who have done masters and are very ignorant... But very proud. Ignorant of everything that actually, truly matters.
