Philosophy is monotheism.

Even I think so. But no one actually cleared me this doubt.

Their is nothing written in scriptures about whether idol worshipping is allowed. I posed this question and got the reply that it was started by Shankeracharyas.

Actually, the followers of Swami Dayanand strictly oppose idol worship and but still they do hawan (which is kind of a fire worship). The are called the Arya Samaaj.

Shankara teaches the philosophy of upanishad, the philosophy of Non-Duality, may be characterized by the use of a simple formula taken from his writings; it is this:
brahma satyam
jagan mithya
jivo brahmaiva napara
(God is the Reality;
The world is illusory.
The soul [or self] is, indeed, nothing else but God.)

Original shankara did not started or promoted idol worship.

Interestingly God doesn’t judge on titles u could be an atheist but if u believe in goodness and morals ur doing the right thing, belief in God is scattered in mans actions and inclinations

you could have a person who proclaims sahadat everyday but in lifestyle and actions are actually atheists or otherwise

To use an extreme example imam Hussein fought people even who were hafiz of Quran on day of ashura at kerbala I’m sure they considered themselves muslims and yet imam Hussein had a companion who was a Christian that died protecting Hussein on day of ashura , which one is the true Muslim? Actions and our alliances determine our true religion
