Can a mentally ill or black magic inflicted person be Shia?

as salaam alakim!

can a mentally ill person still be a shia, can one practice shia islam mentally ill or scizophrenaic, i heard if your insane or un sound you prayer and wudu is invalid? Is this true in shia islam?

Of course they can still be Shia, God doesn't leave anyone out. They're just restricted from stuff like praying if they're in an insane state of mind, but I don't think they'd have much interest in praying anyway, they'd be worrying about something else. Though I'm not sure what Islam's definition of insane is, maybe someone else can fill us in.

You need to get off shiachat more, go on Twitter you'll see that 75% are mentally handicapped. Let's face it, the clerics couldn't get away with spreading the rubbish that they do unless most of us were a bit retarded.
