Many have said that sunni beliefs align more with the Quran than Shia beliefs.
Can someone comment on this?

Also what is our proof for the infallibility of the prophets and imams? Aren’t their verses in the Quran where the prophets made mistakes?

I think Surah Baqara ayahs 30-35 are highly significant for a large amount of reasons, it practically elucidates the role of divinely-appointed people sent by God to humanity, typified by Prophet Adam himself.

It mentions Khalif which is the rightful role of the Imams. People who posess knowledge ('ilm), as demonstrated very clearly by Adam knowing the names of all things in creation. Iblis refused to prostrate to Adam, the leader, the Prophet, the Messenger and Imam all in one, the very first of humanity.

Also Surah Baqara ayat 247 addresses dispute over sucessorship, that God commands and people rather choose to follow their own whims (Omar, Bakr, etc)

Qur'an is replete with this.

The answer is that truth is evident in the verses of quran and hadith of the prophet and those contradicting the verses are rejected and not accepted by Shia thus confriming Shia are aligned with quran instead of sunni.

This is not observed in sunni fiqh and hadith even not meeting the verses of quran are also accepted by their  scholars.
