There are only 2 major parties with enough power to get any thing done and it concerns me that I have such a limited choice. America is suppose to be a democracy were is the voice of the minority that do not fit 2 big parties. How do things work in your country are you happy with it and if you an american or living in a America what do you think of the democrats and republicans? How does an islamic government differ?

Salam there is no difference in Iran except for procedure of election anyway we have one representative from each one of people of book  in Parliament to defend from rights of their people that for us in Iran both American  parties are from one evil root  &  Islamic government has a vast meaning that people instead of caring about their party are working for their country & community that helping poor & needy people must be in priority that you can read Imam Khomeini book about that

@musa shakr

America was never a democracy or even designed to be one. Historically, the U.S. Constitution enshrined oligarchy, including a limited franchise, with a façade of republicanism. Bear in mind that women did not have the “right” to vote until 1919. For many years, blacks and Indians were excluded from the franchise, and only propertied white men had access to politics. Most poor whites were also left out of politics, like the vast majority of the working class and small landowners. Only the “1%” or even less really controlled politics, just as it does today. Like the vast majority of societies throughout history, American society has always been oligarchic, at least since the late seventeenth century. Unfortunately, as elsewhere, the population has been indoctrinated to believe in myths that have little, if anything, to do with the inconvenient truth. That is why the elites always compartmentalise information and force the masses to choose between predetermined evils that always keep the ruling class in power, while gradually eroding the morale, integrity, and security of the masses. An example: virtually every U.S. President since its founding has been a Freemason, the only (possible) exceptions being Lincoln and Kennedy. All major political parties in U.S. history have essentially been controlled opposition at best.

The United States has a far right party (Democratic Party) and an extreme far right party (Republican Party).Both are owned by corporate lobby groups. The national representatives don't even pretend to serve their voters anymore, if they ever did.

We need to make both of these mafias illegal and start over.

At a local level some governments in the US still work, and that is where we can actually make a little difference. I encourage all of us to be informed about and active in local issues as much as we are able.
