Assalaam Malaikum,

This weekend I signed up and registered for a class on the interpretation of the Qu'ran which will be held at a Shia Mosque located near where I live.  I've been studying and watching lectures online on Imam Ali and Hussein (May Peace be upon them) as well as other things from the Ahlul Bayt. However I've never set foot in a Mosque and I've never been part of a community of Muslims so I feel nervous about going for fear of feeling as if out of place or not knowing enough about the forms of prayers. My sole purpose is to learn more about the Qu'ran and gain deeper understanding, even though I haven't much contact with the Muslim community. Previously my background in being brought up had been of Christianity and most of my family is Christian. However I've always had an independent form of thinking and seeking spiritual assurance and guidance so my path is different than most of my family members. What can I expect going to a Mosque for the first time without any previous connection to the Muslim community? Thank you for your replies.

:salam:

Brother, no need to feel nervous about it. You owe no one nothing, you are going there to gain knowledge and spirituality. Just be nice as you would at work or school.

And as usual when you face situations you are not familiar with, just go with the flow.
