The elitism of looking down on people who eat whatever is available to survive. I thought that was obvious..

Well  I obviously didn’t mean it that way

I was only referring to Chinese ppl who make these poisonous foods into such delicacies which is disturbingly gross

Also it may be worth suspending the 5 second rule:

ln my house it is the 'brush rule'. Pick up whatever food you drop, check to see where the dirt is, brush that off if possible and consume or put back to where ever. lf the dirt does not brush off or is unremoverable, tear or cut off the offending section and toss it into the scrap box.

Very efficient. Possibly not very sanitary, depending on your housekeeping habits.

regardless of what 'scientists' say, I usually would eat dropped food though

Scientists are not the source of the five second rule. Bacteria and viruses do not wait for permission. This "rule" comes from people who don't want to waste food.

Yeah I know.. I just don't want to be dominated by science. I just don't want to subconsciously follow suggestions based on 'study says' etc, forgetting the moral compass.

About 100,000 people could be infected with the new coronavirus around the world, experts have warned, as the UK government faced calls to reassure people that the NHS is ready to deal with any British cases within days.

Ppl dropping like flies in the street.

That link does have some pretty scary material. If true, then this has the potential to become really serious.

Indeed the link shared by @thuglife has some disturbing material. I must admit the footage of people 'dropping dead' is hard to understand. But there's also shocking material of healthworkers breaking down due to the pressure and despair which I've come across at least two examples of.

The latest reports suggest the damage has already been done as millions have travelled out of Wuhan in the weeks between the first case in mid December 2019 and now. They've also 'realised' incubation can be up to 2 weeks during which it's infectious.

@thuglife

AljazeeraEng reports up to 56 million people in lockdown across 29 Chinese cities.

Channel4 UK reports 5 million had traveled out of Wuhan city prior to the travel restrictions.

Combine the two plausible reports with official Chinese confirmation of up to 14 days of 'infectious incubation',

And you can expect a rapid and exponential increase in cases that as evidence suggests, spans continents!

Virus Sparks Soul-Searching Over China’s Wild Animal Trade

Quote

Beijing faces uncomfortable questions over its failure to clean up wildlife trade and public calls for a permanent ban on wild meat.

It didn’t take long to identify the suspected source of a deadly coronavirus outbreak in the Chinese city of Wuhan: a cluster of vendors in a downtown market offering carcasses and live specimens of dozens of wild animals—from bamboo rats to ostriches, baby crocodiles and hedgehogs.

I read yesterday that there are three possible cases in my state.

Since it is contagious before symptoms show, definitely it is more widespread than is known.

"Adapting" is likely a better word than "mutating" to characterize than Wuhan nCoV is now more easily spread pneumonically.

@starlight ?  ls this correct?

Mutations is one of the means of adaptation.
