@Moalfas, that is incredibly interesting. Thank you for posting this.

I would be interested in seeing a site wide metric like this.

@Qa'im Good point. I got the following:

591 on Ahlul Bayt

154 on Ahle bait

I suspect Muta, mut3a etc will also yield further threads lol

That's perfectly understandable. I do however notice the abundance and repetitive nature of such topics which was what lead me to carry out the searches. There seems to be a running Mutah thread (or two) at all times lol

Ahl al-Bayt, Ahlal Bayt, ahlulbait, Ahl e Bait, try all of the combinations.

Yes we have way too many mut’a threads. It’s understandable but people should get a grip.

Alhamdulilah,

Very interesting! Well one way of looking at it is that the Holy Imams (عليه السلام) have described the characteristics of the people of Jannah and the people of Jahannum. A common character of of the believers in Jannah is good conduct. A common characteristic of the people of Jahannum is that they will not have guarded their private parts.

Maybe if we have to discuss mutah 124,000 times is worth it if that’s what it takes to get it right and learn in order for us to not have that common characteristic found in unbelievers.

May Allah forgive the believers for their shortcomings.

There are many such threads since 1998, because in the past there was no restriction. In 2016 Mods started to lock threads where the question was answered and members were going off topic.

https://www.shiachat.com/forum/topic/235040341-why-im-locking-mutah-threads/

Mods usually do not approve mutah threads for guests, especially if they seem trollish.

EDIT: ShiaChat is a discussion site. If people do not search to bump up an already existing topic, they create a new one. If mutah topics are locked, they will create new ones. It is what it is.

Whilst I agree that some issues need to be discussed extensively and in detail to reach a good understanding and the best ways forward; looking at this from an outsider's perspective, the amount of Mutah content on ShiaChat, I feel, is a little much. Especially when compared to other topics that deal with our natural human urges such as self discipline and Akhlaq.

Mutah should have a mega thread with FAQs.

I would go even further and suggest FAQ threads that are pinned to the top dealing with very common issues/questions that lots of people usually look for such as step by step Wudhu and Prayer and Halal fish types just to name a couple.

Subhan’Allah,

I totally understand you brother. I guess people will always check for what is pertaining to them at the time.

I have a friend and when we were young teenagers his father had a book which was about parents rights and children’s rights in Islam. My friend told me that when he found this book some years later, the part of the book regarding parents rights had been highlighted everywhere and had been obviously worn down from heavy scrutiny.

The part of the book regarding rights of children was still freshly new with no highlights or signs of being read. Lol.

A quick search of thread topics yielded the following results:

529 threads on Mutah          --ain't these here teenaged boys satiated yet?

334 threads on Ahlul Bayt (عليه السلام)

56 threads on Patience  ---Come-on . . . Hurry Up with this

46 Threads on Akhlaq   ----l just ate on the kitchen sink, so l ain't going to win any awards for manners

17 threads on Piety    ---one of my better qualities . . . as is humility

And only 11 threads on Discipline!   ---but "disorderly conduct" is quite prevalent on S.C.

It certainly serves as a reminder for us to examine our priorities from time to time.  Such as in the occasional thread: S.C Addiction

My response is above in boldface.

What messed-up, anti-lsIamic translation are you using?

Bear in mind that there is a numerical difference between those who think about it, those who write about it, those who think about those who write about it and those who actually do it.

so whats the issue? would you rather they stay quiet do sins in private?

let people seek what they need, God has allowed this so who are we to judge this? yes people need sex why can’t we be mature about this? and muta and marriage is halal and the answer to this issue

people should be commended for following the rules in such difficult times as today , sexuality is propagated at all angles towards the people and the people are under alot of pressure so it is good they are dealing with this in the way which is halal , there is no shame in it

Indeed. But it's safe to say that the number of people who write about it is much smaller than the number of people who think about it.

Sura 3 - Ayat 14

Here are some translations:

The love of desires, of women and sons and hoarded treasures of gold and silver and well bred horses and cattle and tilth, is made to seem fair to men; this is the provision of the life of this world; and Allah is He with Whom is the good goal (of life).

-------

Beautified is for mankind the love of these desires – women, and sons, and heaps of gold and piled up silver, and branded horses, and cattle and fields; this is the wealth of the life of this world; and it is Allah, with Whom is the excellent abode

-----

Beautified for mankind is love of the joys (that come) from women and offspring; and stored-up heaps of gold and silver, and horses branded (with their mark), and cattle and land. That is comfort of the life of the world. Allah! With Him is a more excellent abode.

---------

The lust (extreme desire) towards women and children, of hoarded treasures of gold and silver, of branded beautiful horses and cattle and well-tilled land, is made to seem beautiful to men; this is the provision of the life of this world; and Allah is the best Shelter in His presence.

--------

Fair-seeming is made unto men the love of pleasurable things from women and children and talents heaped-up of gold and silver and horses branded up and cattle and tilth. All that is the enjoyment of the life of the World, and Allah! with Him is the best resort.

____

Fair in the eyes of men is the love of things they covet: Women and sons; Heaped-up hoards of gold and silver; horses branded (for blood and excellence); and (wealth of) cattle and well-tilled land. Such are the possessions of this world´s life; but in nearness to Allah is the best of the goals (To return to).
------
The satisfaction of worldly desires through women, and children, and heaped-up treasures of gold and silver, and pedigreed horses, and cattle and lands is attractive to people. All this is the provision of the worldly life; but the most excellent abode is with God

-------
Adorned for the people is the love of desires, such as women, and children, and piles upon piles of gold and silver, and branded horses, and livestock, and fields. These are the conveniences of the worldly life, but with God lies the finest resort
------
Decorated for people are the desires of women, offspring, and of heaped up piles of gold and silver, of pedigree horses, cattle, and sown fields. These are the enjoyments of the worldly life, but with Allah is the best return.

The Ayat 3:14 itemizes women and sons, gold and silver, horses and cattle and good farmland as the possessions of this Life, but it is Allah -(سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى). and His -(سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى). Last Day that should a man's focus.

There is nothing explicit about lust, joy and other things your post pretends:

These are poor interpretations/translations.

This is from corpus. So what difference do you see in this? It's similar translation and I don't find anything unislamic in any of these translations. Can you explain what you think is unislamic?

The words inserted and these also lose the business-like-tone that the Qur'an is revealed in, lnshallah.

The translations you like are emotional renderings, contradicting Ayat 30:21. Herein is a refrain that occurs elsewhere in Qur'an: search "signs" + "reflect" and you'll see an absence of the emotional renderings mistranslators sprinkle into what is revealed -cursed inshallah.
