Lool.. nah I switch off video and muted audio after the introductions. Taped over webcam too so I don't have to worry about strict hijab. Though I would like to try this out on a less formal meeting

Stressed out. I had my last final yesterday and i'm considering Masters courses but the cost is very expensive and i sadly cannot afford it. The world is bound to enter a huge recession after this pandemic is over too, so finding a job is looking practically impossible... not that it was easy before anyway.

Some people only sit on their prayer mat and  ask Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) for something without putting in the effort themselves. These people then blame Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) when their du'a isn't accepted.

Although there are many reasons why our du'as aren't accepted, one reason could be that we're simply not being proactive. Complaining never helps.

Watching a person who I admire have a multi-day mental breakdown on social media is painful and makes me realize how alone some people are. I don't think there's anything I can do to help - I offered kind words and was met with anger at the futility of those words, which isn't false. Nothing more I can say.

I remember when we were younger I used to wonder why mom said reading is a luxury. I think I have entered that phase in life now. I can not even watch a full documentary or movie (which used to be a luxury type hobby), and reading was one of the staple activities of my day. 

May Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) grant us barakah in our time, and make every moment of our lives dedicated to Him, and Him alone.

Don't live your life being stuck with the thought of what someone will do if they are without you. Life goes on for everyone, that's what life is, you are not that significant to matter. So better not waste your life.

I just saw something I've never seen before. A family of seven (mom, dad, five kids of various ages) just jogged by in a mini-replica of a military formation. The dad was calling cadence and the family was replying. I think the quarantine is getting to them. It was cute though.

The news reported the opening of the National People's Congress in China and the debate on a security law and Hong Kong.

The speaking reporter called the National People's Congress "a rubber stamp" for the Central Committee.

Transposing this characterization to America, l guess Congress is "a rubbber stamp" for the Lobbyists.

I just figured out the meaning of "if you don't do amar bil maroof and nahi anil munkir, Allah will make the most cruel people your rulers". It means if you are a nice woman, and you don't constantly criticize other women and make them feel bad about themselves, you will end up with the most abusive husband. So if you want to get a nice and kind husband, make sure to be really mean to other women and constantly criticize them. Men get sexual pleasure from watching cat fights, if you refuse to give them this pleasure, they will punish you by sending the most cruel men to stalk you and eventually you will get married to one of those abusive men.

According to the news, the spike in food prices in the last couple of months is the highest since the 1970s.

The 'big' reason back then was inflation, which our common enemy -the Federal Reserve- used to inflate the economy; and the USAID sponsored "oil shocks". Other "opportunities" for price gouging were in coffee, orange  juice and processed commodities.

This time the excuse is "the supply chain". The meat industry has a C-19 Disruption, so under cover of "supply and demand" --as if every shipment of meat is auctioned off at the dock and not under contract-- prices are arbitrarialy raised. Most likely so the managers can get bigger bonuses. But other products are having their prices raised (watch peanut butter)(and tomatoes).

As l always told my sisters, inflation is your biggest enemy. l told my students that the Fed was their biggest enemy in Life.

Astronomers have just discovered a 25 meter asteroid that is expected to come within 0.37 lunar distance of earth on May 29. It being 2020, I wouldn't be surprised if the rock is actually much closer. 

Could whoever keeps saying "at least it couldn't get any worse" please stop!

This is the video of a woman going into another woman's house and attacking her because she was having an affair with her husband. This is disturbing and it shows the dangerous results when we encourage people to do amar bil maaroof nahi anil munkir. All the muslims I know, who put so much emphasis on amar bil maaroof and nahi anil munkir, act like this. This is just an excuse for cruel, sadistic and violent people to fulfill their animalistic desires.
