:salam:

What is it with us arabs and حسد? (Envy)

I know it's not just arabs but I've noticed that it's extremely strong with us and often behind our backs.
For example, in Scandinavia and Europe, if there is something to be said, they say it. With us, they give us evil eye and say stuff like "Look at him/her, already has a (x) and is only (y)"

My grandfather (not the best human), may Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) guide him, saw my car and I immediately saw the Ghira. A couple days later, the baggage wouldnt open. A couple more weeks later, the car started breaking down and the car hasn't been the same since.

I have an Aqeeq ring I always keep on me. All of the family sat and we were discussing various topics until we started talking about my job and other things. 2 minutes in, and the stone fell right out of the ring :hahaha: Immediate silence. I've never seen someones face so red before.

Just thought I'd make this post and see if there is something we can discuss about this topic and why this problem occurs. I'm sure many others have experienced Evil Eye, Envy, Ghira and other things.

AlHamdulillah it was just the stone that fell and you weren't fired from your job too lol

The more you think about something the more you think its was that, that caused it.

it's like placebo effect.

I have heard many stories like this. Someone gave them evil eye and suddenly something bad happened to them. Not sure where people get this from and how this was spread.

It is true that energy can take on mass, meaning negative energy may cause things to happen.  The evil eye is one way to express this phenomena.  Everything is not the evil eye and superstition is a sin in and of itself.  Make a habit of staying positive and giving off positive vibes around everything, and pray, prayer for protection against negativity however it's expressed.  Some things are coincidences, and stop putting meaning to every coincidence, always be grateful, gratitude nullifies evil.

On a serious note, we do have Hasad even mentioned in the Qur'an but the issue is some of us can take it a little too far.

I personally know several people who constantly talk of someone envying them and giving them the 'eye' etc but what I see from them borders paranoia to be honest. Not suggesting the OP btw.

The problem is we cannot pinpoint an alleged culprit with tangible evidence.

The best way avoid being envied and getting the 'evil eye' is to read the معوذات which are Al Falaq and Al Nas as well as Ayat Al Kursi to safeguard ourselves, families and property from it. That alongside daily Sadaqa.

As far as making sure we don't give anyone the 'eye', best to do is Salawat and Mashallah when we see something that impresses us rather than 'I wish that was mine' or 'they don't deserve it' etc

salam,

I don't know, isn't 'evil eye' the same as the 'all seeing eye'?

Don't masquerade the things that are of real value to you to most people. It's a natural "urge" or "feeling" to be envious, it is supernatural to be humble.

Supernatural, because you tame the very essence within you to see beyond the apparent reality of someone's wealth.

The evil eye has become a cultural superstition, that borders on paranoia and clinical anxiety. It’s been used to justify things that happen outside of one’s control or when misfortune occurs. It’s dumb, time consuming, and an unhealthy obsession. Very rarely are people toxically jealous.

Toxic jealousy involves actively sabotaging someone that you don’t have for yourself and can’t stand seeing others happy, successful, or fulfilled. That’s very different from envy, a non-destructive, non-action, feeling-based emotion.

The evil eye is something out of the extraordinary. Meaning that some uncharacteristic and sudden takes place. Not that everything and anything that goes wrong is due to the evil eye.

The evil eye is "hasad" or "envy" from others towards you and your blessings. The "all seeing eye" is something completely different, it symbolizes several "gods" or "deities" but essentially is supposed to symbolize the God of this universe according to a certain group of people in this world, thus why they call it the all-seeing eye. These people may refer to this false God as "the great architect" but we Muslims know too well that this one-eyed God of theirs is an impostor.

Just look into the Freemasons and ancient Egyptian "gods". I am surprised you don't know, this requires shallow-level researching, and these people are our true enemies.

I don't think we should just blame everything on evil eye. I feel like its just some coincidence or people's subconsciousness thinking that somethings going to happen after they told someone that they achieved something. I mean im not saying we shouldnt protect ourselves from these kind of things but we shouldnt just base everything on the fact that something bad will arise when they know our accomplishments. whatever bad that happens to us, we can't blame it on someone else because of their eyes or hasad
