Truth or impact

I was skeptical when my teenage son told me that his English teacher had suggested that the class invent false "statistics" on their SOL exams, but apparently this teacher isn't alone in this shocking suggestion.

And "news" is doing the same:

How can we fight this? How can we even know what is true when children are being advised by teachers to invent a convenient "truth" to win points? When "news" is a dramatic fiction?

News has always used 'dramatic fiction' and false narratives to serve agendas. What's really concerning is teachers condoning or even recommending such behaviour in schools. We have a crisis of role models. When world leaders for instance openly lie and mislead, mock, insult and engage in open racism; it's only a matter of time for these acts to become socially acceptable. We can fight it on a personal level by supporting our children with their own critical thinking skills and not following the herd. That alongside instilling the important code of ethics of Ahlul Bayt (عليه السلام)

ln Latin class one Roman proverb was "Rumor Flys" -- @Gaius I. Caesar probably remembers the Latin.

Also, Americans have had the saying, "There are Lies, Damned Lies and Statistics" sometimes rendered 'and then there's Statistics'.

For the lsIamic Community, a "talking points" site to complement 'fact checker' sites could be developed. Similarly, local communities can do the same.

This was very true in the hoax running up to the lnvasion of lraq. Later, l read the media did this without fact checking to drive up advertising revenue.

https://fullmeasure.news/news/politics/media-mistakes-10-16-2019  for Sunday,200ct19  where the interviewee comments on the hype for impeachment. The interviewee said for many[edit: media members] it is the dislike of Trump, but l suspect it is the same motive is involved --the money.

This is my initial thought.
