Majlis Dua

Salaam, I wanted to know what duas or surahs can one recite at the beginning of a majalis?

I'm assuming you're joining a Majlis as a listener and not speaker/reciter.

if so, then the best thing I can think of is to do Salawat repeatedly which is the best form of Dua 

اللهم صَل على محمد و ال محمد

You can also, in your own words. Ask Allah after Salawat to give you Tawfeeq to benefit from the Majlis and accept your efforts in joining the Majlis and offering your condolences to Ahlul Bayt for their tragedies. 

It is narrated that the ideal way to make any Dua is to always start by Salawat as Allah the most giving, will inshallah accept your Dua as he accepted your Salawat.
