Is there any evidence that the daff was also played in environments filled with drinking and lewdness?

I was reading an article that said that mentioned that the daff too was instrument that was associated with drinking and lewdness. Can anyone confirm this with any evidence?

If you google these words -- Persian instruments daff -- there is a History of Daff (the Middle East Frame Drums). In that article, there were three reasons for using the Daff:

  1. nomads for making different sounds in order to hunt animals
  2. religious ceremonies
  3. parades

If you are asking about modern times when people have drunken parties and might use the Daff, then that is misuse of the instrument. The people who use the Daff in religious music are the ones who use it properly.
