Bomb rips through wedding in Kabul

Rate this topic

An explosion has ripped through a wedding hall in the Afghan capital, Kabul, and many casualties are feared.

Eye witnesses told the BBC a suicide bomber detonated explosives during a wedding ceremony. Witnesses said they had seen bodies.

The explosion happened at around 22:40 local time (18.10 GMT) in an area mostly populated by Shia residents.

No group said it carried out the attack, which happened in the west of the city.

Sunni Muslim militants, including the Taliban and the Islamic State group, have repeatedly targeted Shia Hazara minorities in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

The latest blast comes just 10 days after a huge bomb outside a Kabul police station killed at least 14 people and injured nearly 150.

The Taliban said it carried out that attack.

Tensions in the country have been high even though the Taliban and the United States, which has thousands of troops stationed in Afghanistan, are reportedly close to announcing a peace deal.

Warning: Those weak in faith may find this offensive. Please Read Ayat 5:33.

^^^^ Ayat 3:169 is taken out of context.

These people were unwarned victims, not fighters.

Good point, I've changed it.

Its not even "easier said than done". We are like chicken in a protein farm. The US is there precisely to aid terror. After Syria ruthlessly and efficiently eliminated ISIS from Syria the US transferred them all to Afghanistan. All governments, except Shia governments, will always make sure the 1400 year old genocide continues. Especially now people are so tied up and so weakened that they can not organize or rise up and so weak in faith that no one wants to risk doing the right thing which is in that verse.

P.S.: I could not partially agree to that.

Explosions in Afghanistan wound dozens on Independence Day

A series of bombings struck restaurants and public squares on Monday in the eastern Afghan city of Jalalabad, wounding at least 34 people, officials said, as the country marked the 100th anniversary of its independence.

Ahlul Bayt News Agency (ABNA): A series of bombings struck restaurants and public squares on Monday in the eastern Afghan city of Jalalabad, wounding at least 34 people, officials said, as the country marked the 100th anniversary of its independence.

No group claimed responsibility for the 10 bombs but both ISIS and the Taliban militants operate in the area.

IS claimed responsibility for a weekend bomb attack on a wedding reception in the capital, Kabul, in which 63 people were killed and nearly 200 wounded.

The Jalalabad bombs were planted near a market where hundreds of people had congregated after attending Independence Day events. Senior health official Fahim Bashari said at least 34 people were wounded.

President Ashraf Ghani, in an Independence Day address in Kabul, called on the international community to stand with Afghanistan to eradicate the militants’ “nests”.

“Our fight against the Daesh will continue,” he said, referring to IS.

“The Taliban have laid the foundation for such brutal killings.”

Ghani did not refer in his speech to negotiations between the United States and the Taliban on a deal by which U.S. troops can withdraw in exchange for Taliban security guarantees.

The Taliban said in an Independence Day statement they were looking forward to the departure of all foreign forces.

“The day approaches closer when these invaders shall completely leave our country, akin to the British and Soviets before them,” they said.

While never part of the British empire, Afghanistan gained complete independence from Britain on Aug. 19, 1919.

The group issued a statement in Arabic that attack was carried by ISIS suicide bomber Abu Asim Al-Pakistani, targeting attendees of the marriage ceremony – as dubbed (killer of Rafidah) Mushrikeens or non-believers of Islam (in Kabul)

The claim came after the Taliban in a statement denied any involvement in the attack, as the group condemned the incident that targeted women and children.
