Malaysia considering to deport Zakir Naik

Image: One Zakir Naik in four years when every country bans him from entering so he is left with no choice but to bob around on the sea on a Titanic rubber ring.

In all seriousness, he is an unpleasant man who makes his living off easily impressed Hindus and Asian Christians who are uncertain in their faith so will buckle as soon as he rolls off a list of facts and quotes (85% of which are usually wrong). PeaceTV ought to be sent in a rocket into outer space

Deportation is imminent for Zakir Naik. Hopefully, this is a sign for things to come and for other countries to base their decision on letting him in.

Nah! That rat ran fearing Indian government. He was involved in recruiting for ISIS amd money laundering. Court has ordered arrest warrant against him as soon as he comes to India. They are also seeking extradition with Interpol.

He can only impress KSA.

His conferences were in the UAE then I'm guessing. Yeah, I'm aware of the money laundering. PeaceTV will sadly always remain mindyou, he has Abdurrahman Green, Yusuf Estes and token Imam Hussein Yee to carry on the legacy.

His comments about Chinese Malaysians was probably unnecessary given the recent political climate. Plus why would he go and kick the hornet's nest when Malaysia has been covering his back for however long? Just seems daft

You can tell he's been eating good from all that Saudi monies compared to how he looked when he started out

Not according to the Salafi Speaker's Corner crew (If I recall correctly)... apparently it was humbling meeting him in his small housing situation despite being the biggest "da'iee".

Has Malaysia deported any religious speaker before? Just trying to estimate how long this deportation might take.

Wikipedia lists the countries where Zakir Naik is banned from preaching. I wonder if that means he is banned from traveling there or he just can't give a speech there:

he is regarded as an exponent of the Salafi ideology, and by some sources as a radical Islamist promoting Wahhabism. His preaching is currently banned in India, Bangladesh, Canada and the United Kingdom.

The Inspector-General of Police said the Egyptian national, who was arrested on Feb 2, was working as a lecturer in one of the religious schools in the country and had ties to two Islamic State and al-Qaeda members who were arrested in Kuala Lumpur last year.

"As the presence of this foreigners can affect the safety of Malaysia, all the suspects have been deported from the country back to their country of origin under Section 9 (1) Immigration Act 1959/63 on March 5, as well as having them blacklisted for life to prevent them from entering the country again," he said.

At least four cabinet ministers have publicly urged Prime Minister Mahathir to deport controversial preacher to India.

On Wednesday, two ministers told Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohammed at a cabinet meeting that Naik needs to be deported as his speeches were "inflammatory in nature".

At least four cabinet ministers have called for Naik’s deportation along with other senior politicians.

"We have expressed our position which is that action must be taken and that Zakir Naik should no longer be allowed to remain in Malaysia," said Communications and Multimedia Minister Gobind Singh Deo and Human Resources Minister M. Kulasegaran in a joint statement.

"The Prime Minister has taken note of our concerns. We leave it to him to consider the position and to decide soonest possible what will be done to deal with the problem," the statement said.

Thank you. I would think that would be a reasonable time limit for him to be deported. Legally in the US you can give someone 30 days to vacate the place of residence for nonpayment of rent or for any reason at all. However, a dangerous person (salafi, wahhabi, etc.) could be arrested before being deported.

Now that I hear and see it in context, I find the comments just as ignorant and stupid as I did before. Especially when considering the Chinese Malaysians  make up almost a quarter of the population. If he bothered with real historical facts, he would have known that the Chinese were interacting with the Malays since the early dynasties. Yet somehow he thinks they can just pack up and leave, where will they go? The reaction from Malaysia is rightly justified.

Deport Zakir Naik

Colin Nathan started this petition to Tun Dr. Mahathir and 1 other

In this new Malaysia of ours, let's remove all divisive elements that seek to drive a wedge between our religious communities.

Let us also stand tall as a member of the Global Community by honoring extradition requests from our fellow member of the commonwealth,  the nation of India by sending Dr. Zakir Naik back to his homeland to answer his acusers and clear himself of all charges relating to money laundering and inciting terror.

After proving his innocence,  we will welcome him back to continue his contributions to the propagation of Islamic understanding.
