Farting invalidates wudhu but how do we know whether something is a fart or not. If there is no sound and smell produced is it a fart?

The passing of wind from the buttocks, smell and sound are not necessary for a fart to be a fart and only depend on certain variants. Until it leaves your body it isn't a fart, it's just bowel gases whirling around.

There are bound to be microscopic particles from your number twos, hence why farts break wudhu.

Now please turn to page 74 in your textbooks and copy from the words 'whoever smelt it' to 'did the crime.'
