Does Allah ((سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى)) truly have infinite mercy?

Salam Alaikum.

I've got a couple of questions regarding a topic if Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) truly have inifinite mercy.

1. Is there any Qur'an quotes or hadiths that tells Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) forgives no matter how big/small and how many sins a person has committed. I'm having a kind of hard time seeing Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) willing to forgive someone that kills, steals, drinks and so on. Even if this person has decided to stop and begin to repent.

2. Will doing Hajj in Mekkah really result in Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) cleansing you from all sins you've done no matter how many and how big they are?

Please do enlighten me on this topic, I would appreciate that. Also posting source would also be appreciated

Allah's mercy is so great that from human perspective it is infinite.

There is the verse in the a Qur'an that says even if your sins reached from Earth to heavens in quantity Allah may still forgive you. (And a hadith of the same kind:)

Quote

Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, “Allah, the Exalted, has said: ‘O son of adam, I forgive you as long as you pray to Me and hope for My forgiveness, whatever sins you have committed. O son of ‘Adam, I do not care if your sins reach the height of the heaven, then you ask for my forgiveness, I would forgive you. O son of ‘Adam, if you come to Me with an Earth load of sins, and meet Me associating nothing to Me, I would match it with an earthload of forgiveness.”‘

But to say Allah will forgive no matter how great the sins (and end there) , is false as he "forgives whom he pleases and punishes whom he pleases".

We know from the Qur'an Allah has forgiven killing, and the Qur'an specifically says there is no sin Allah cannot forgive. The only sin of which forgiveness is dependant on repentance is shirk.

Quote

It was reported, "Whoever stands at Arafat and he still doubts that Allah will not forgive his sins, his Hajj is invalid".

There is at least one hadith that says one who completes Hajj, all his sins are forgiven. But it isn't so simple as to go there and go through the motions. The person's intention, heart and spirit need to be in it in full understanding from beginning to end. That isn't easy.

So Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) can decide to not forgive someone even if he has repented? Or lets say He repents and does the same mistake.

He (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) said in Qur'an that He guides and loves those who repent.

I remember I’ve read someone that Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) accept all types of repentance, if you have a mountain full of sins and you want to repent sincerely from your heart, Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) will accept it. After all Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) is the most merciful.

Allah can do anything. But he has told us that he loves everyone; every single person. It's difficult for man to imagine because a man cannot love everybody. That's why it's so important to believe it when Allah says that he loves you, that he created man to sin (technically, he doesn't say it literally, I think) that he loves it when a man repents and that he forgives to one who repents.

Repentance isn't just saying that you're sorry which makes it more complicated. Yet Allah says that he will forgive a sinner again and again. Yes even for the same sin. Even though part of repentance is to decide not to do it again. And each time you repent and Allah forgives you, he doesn't love you any less - in fact since he loves repentance, he might love you more.

So the Qur'an says "forgives whom He pleases and punishes whom He pleases". It is mentioned again and again in the Qur'an. I'm sure it has meanings I can't understand myself (and you might ask some scholar about that) but for instance imagine a murderer. If a man murders another. Maybe he murders someone completely helpless like his own child in cold blood. And the world will hate that man. They will be disgusted and many of them will say "that man will go to hell". They can torment him through his entire life never forgiving him even if he changes himself completely in a good way. But Allah can forgive him and admit him into Jannah.

Still someone else, someone whom everyone loves, who hasn't killed anybody, hasn't hit anybody, has never stolen. Someone generally considered 'good' in society. No matter how people love him and how beautiful his life, Allah can punish him and throw him to Jahannam for eternity. And no one will question him. He says so in the Qur'an. That we will be question each of us but he won't be. No one has the right to because he does what he pleases.

God will not forgive the sin of considering something equal to Him, but He may forgive the other sins of whomever He wants. One who considers anything equal to God has certainly gone far away from the right path.

They measure not God with His true measure;

surely God is All-strong, All-mighty.

If human's can forgive others, surely God can!

Not only that ut in the Qur'an God mentions that He removes people's sins and replaces them with good deeds!

There is more:

Not only is God the Forgiver, but HE is also the Pardoner!

Meaning that even if you don't seek His forgiveness, There is still the possibility that He may pardon you for absolutely no reason whatsoever.

And so the only thing blocking you from enjoying and basking in His mercy are the limits that your mind places on God.

Allah's mercy depends on the level of ignorance a person possesses. To illustrate this, I would give some examples: -

1. Prophet (PBUHHP) waived every right arising out of homicide at the last Hajj which was done in pre-Islamic ignorant Arab society. The reason of this is that such hatred had been kept for centuries and it had evolved into tribal rivalry even though generations had passed since the murder or homicide was conducted. This rule, however, would not apply to a person who has murdered and then accepted Islam just to evade punishment for two reasons. Firstly, the person may have escaped his religion for the fear of the punishment which he knows would be inflicted on him as no any system would allow him to evade such responsibility. Secondly, after coming to Islam, Allah (عزّ وجلّ) may forgive him as His creation but He (عزّ وجلّ) would not forgive him to take life of any of his creation even if that be a unbeliever unless such murder has been caused in defense or by just cause. The reason of this is that before Allah (عزّ وجلّ) the worst of sins even above than murder is causing civil disturbance. But, Islam would allow him an opportunity either to persuade the relatives of the murdered for blood money or even for forgiveness without sin. Here, I repeat it again, Allah (عزّ وجلّ) would forgive him as His creation but would not forgive him what he took from other.

2. It depends on a person's own moral sincerity, if he had done Hajj with such dedication and sincerity and promises Allah (عزّ وجلّ) that he would always fulfill the kalima "Labaik la shareek lak Labaik"...."There is none accompanying you as deity", and accepts Allah (عزّ وجلّ) as sole ruler over his mind and body, Allah (عزّ وجلّ) may forgive every sin. But as I told you earlier, when you do sin, you sinned twice, once being thankless to Allah (عزّ وجلّ) and disobeying Him and second by taking away the right of other. So, Allah (عزّ وجلّ) would forgive your sin but how much are you willing to say sorry to those to whom you have done damage ?

That is answer according to my thinking.

Yes, His name is Mercy.. Literally!!

Al-Rahman, Al-Raheem, Al-Wudood, Al-Wali, and numerous other we don’t know of. These are His attributes which are not separate from Him. Since He is infinite, everything about Him is infinite.

He doesn't practice his anger infinitely...? He has an infinite capability to do so but not an infinite will? :einstein:

Don’t be so sure.

43.74 إِنَّ الْمُجْرِمِينَ فِي عَذَابِ جَهَنَّمَ خَالِدُونَ

Indeed the guilty will remain [forever] in the punishment of hell.

Also the same message for ‘under the eternal anger and eternal will of that anger’ in 2:39, 2:81, 2:217, 2:257, 2:275, 3:116, 5:80, and another 10s more.

I didn't mean eternal but rather infinite. But I wasn't entirely serious. Infinite as a word just is beyond our understanding.
