What time to break fast

Rate this topic

Recommended Posts

Salam

What is the correct time to break ones fast? As some Shia's and all Sunni's break fast when sunset is shown signitifically, I.e if you Google time of sunset this is the time they break fast. But some Shia believe this is incorrect and you have to wait later till the last thread of the sun disappears.

What are your thoughts plz and which teachings do you follow?

Also if your going a way from home, what distance must it be before you are not supposed to fast?

Thank you and appreciate your responses.

I don't know if this is relevant but in my city there are two Shia Mosques and each mosque has different times. One says Maghrib is 20 minutes after sunset and the other one says it's 10 minutes after sunset.

I go with the 20 minute one.

(Where I live)

Today the sun will set at 8:16. Sunnis will open at 8:17.

The Shi’as will open at 8:36
