:bismillah:

66:8 (on the day on which Allah will not abase the Prophet and those who believe with him; their light shall run on before them and on their right hands; they shall say: Our Lord! make perfect for us our light, and grant us protection, surely Thou hast power over all things.) Shakir's Translation.

I have some questions about this portion of verse:

What is the interpretation of this verse?
Why it has been said that Allah will not abase the Prophet (S) & those who believe with him? What does it really means?
Why they will be saying "make perfect or make complete" their noor when it has been mentioned earlier that their noor shall run on before them & on their right hands?
Does "itmaam" here refers the perfectness or does it refer completeness?

I have found following verses from Qur'an in order to explain the above verse as quoted in OP: @Salsabeel

009:088 But the Messenger and the faithful who are with him wage jihad with their possessions and persons, and to such belong all the blessings, and it is they who are the felicitous.

042:052 Thus have We imbued you with a Spirit of Our command. You did not know what the Book is, nor what is faith; but We made it a light that We may guide by its means whomever We wish of Our servants. Indeed, you guide to a straight path,

057:028 O you who have faith! Be wary of Allah and have faith in His Messenger. He will grant you a double share of His mercy and a light to walk by, and He will forgive you, and Allah is all-forgiving, all-merciful;

039:022 Is someone whose breast Allah has opened to Islam so that he follows a light from His Lord…? So woe to those whose hearts have been hardened to the remembrance of Allah. They are in manifest error

057:012 The day you will see the faithful, men and women, with their light moving swiftly in front of them and on their right, [and they are greeted with the words:] ‘There is good news for you today! Gardens with streams running in them, to remain in them [forever]. That is the great success.’

057:019 Those who have faith in Allah and His Messengers—it is they who are the truthful and witnesses with their Lord; they shall have their reward and their light. But as for those who are faithless and deny Our signs, they shall be the inmates of hell.

009:032 They desire to put out the light of Allah with their mouths, but Allah is intent on perfecting His light though the faithless should be averse.

005:003 Today the faithless have despaired of your religion. So do not fear them, but fear Me. Today I have perfected your religion for you, and I have completed My blessing upon you, and I have approved Islam as your religion. But should anyone be compelled by hunger, without inclining to sin, then Allah is indeed all-forgiving, all-merciful.

Ali ibn Muhammad and Muhammad ibn al-Hassan have narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad from Muhammad ibn al-Hassan ibn sham?? From ‘Abdallah ibn ‘Abd al-Rahmanal-Asamm from ‘Abdallah ibn al-Qasim from salih ibn Sahl al-Hamadani who has said that Abu ‘Abdallah (a. s.) has said the following about the verse of the Holy Qur'an below. "God is the light of the heavens and the Earth. A metaphor for His light is a lantern in which there is a lamp placed in a glass. The glass is like a shining star which is lit from a blessed olive tree that is neither eastern nor western. Its oil almost lights up even though it has not been touched by the fire. It is light upon light. God guides to His light whomever He wants. God uses various metaphors. He has the knowledge of all things." (24:35) The Imam ((عليه السلام).) said that the lantern metaphorically stands for the Holy lady, Fatima ((عليه السلام).), the lamp stands for Imam al-Hassan (a.
s.) and the glass stands for Imam al-Husayn ((عليه السلام).). The shining star stands for the Holy lady Fatima ((عليه السلام).) who shines among the ladies of the world. The blessed olive tree stands for Prophet Abraham. Neither eastern nor western means not Jewish nor Christian. ‘Its oil almost lights up’ means that it almost bursts up with knowledge. ‘Light up on light’ means that there will one Imam after the other Imam ((عليه السلام).) ‘God guides to His light who ever He wants’ means that Allah guides through the Imams whomever He wants." About ‘God uses various metaphors’ I said, "Or it (the deeds of the unbelievers) are like the darkness of a deep, stormy sea with layers of giant waves, covered by dark clouds. It is darkness upon darkness whereby even if one stretches out his hands he can not see them. One can have no light unless God gives him light. (24:40)
The Imam ((عليه السلام).) said, " ‘darkness’ refers to the first and his friend, ‘with layers of giant waves’ refers to the third, ‘covered with darkness’ refers to the second. ‘it is darkness up on darkness’ refers to Mu‘awiya and the disasters caused by the Amavides. ‘even if one stretches out his hands’ means that even if a true believer would stretch his hands in such disastrous condition ‘he can not see them’. ‘One can have no light unless God gives him light, means the light from the children of the Holy Lady, Fatima ((عليه السلام).) ‘Can have no light’ means an Imam on the Day of Judgment." The Imam ((عليه السلام).) said that, "On the Day of Judgment you will see the believers with their light shining in front of them and to their right. They will be told, "
Paradise wherein streams flow is the glad news for you today. You will live therein forever. This is the greatest triumph." (57:12), the shining light in front . . .’ is a reference to the Imams ((عليه السلام).) whom would walk in front and on the right of the true believers until they all enter paradise."
Ali ibn Muhammad and Muhammad ibn al-Hassan have narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad from Musa ibn al-Qasim al-Bajali and Muhammad ibn yahya from al-‘Amrakiy ibn Ali altogether from Ali ibn Ja‘far ((عليه السلام).) from his brother a similar Hadith.

@skyweb1987, thank you brother for your valued input. Unfortunately the questions asked are still unanswered, so I am just presenting how I have tried to understand this verse. This is not the interpretation as I am not the one to interpret any of the verse of Holy Qur'an as this authority resides with Rasikhoona Fil Ilm (asws).

This portion of the verse is perhaps related with the earlier part where Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) is commanding to do sincere repentance "Toubatan Nasooha" and as a result of which He will forgive us & will remove the consequences of our wrongdoings and send us to jannah:

The word "Yukhzee" or "Khizyun" representing the meaning of disgrace or abasement and that will be specific for the kafireen in this world & in hereafter. Only the Holy Prophet (S) and those with him in letter & spirit will be protected by the عَذَابٌ يُخْزِيهِ (Suffering/punishment which cause disgrace or humiliation). The following verse is explaining it:

16:27 Then on the resurrection day He will bring them to disgrace and say: Where are the associates you gave Me, for whose sake you became hostile? Those who are given the knowledge will say: Surely the disgrace and the evil are this day upon the unbelievers

This is the question I am seeking answer of. Obviously as the verse says, the people who will be saying this includes the Prophet and the Imams (asws), those whose light shall run on before them & on their right hands. But I got help from a verse you have shared which also mentions the "itmaam" of noor of Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) and as mentioned also in 61:8:

009:032 They desire to put out the light of Allah with their mouths, but Allah is intent on perfecting His light though the faithless should be averse.

61:8

So the saying "Rabbana atmimlana noorana" has something to do with these two verses? Is this saying is a prayer of Prophet & 11 Imams today or everyday till Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) reveals His hujjah, our 12th Imam (peace & blessings of Allah be upon him & his pure ancestors)?

Or the saying "Rabbana atmimlana noorana" has something to do with Syeda Fatima (s.a)? For whom we have reports that she will not enter into the paradise until she makes sure the shafa'ah of all those who are the Shia of Ahlul Bayt (asws)?

In both the cases, I can feel the need of this saying. The perfection/completion of noor of Allah will be done upon the "itmaam" of  "Gul-dasta" of 14 infallible here in this world and in the hereafter too.

I think that the meaning of "itmaam" here in this verse refers to the completion. A building remains imperfect when not completed, upon completion it shows its true elevation and beauty.

Wallaho Aa'lam.

"The world خزی is more similar to ( letdown ) as Raghib Esfahi viewpoint

however, خزی has vast meaning and I found a paper in Persian for the meaning of this word.
the feeling of the unsuccessful can be affected by the individual person himself or by other views of that person
so we can interpret in the following :
-Allah will not allow people to think Prophet and believers do not succeed in their goal
-Allah will not separate Prophet form believers so believers will not feel that they are disappointed and they will not think Prophet's followers are misguided"

What is meant by "atmimlana noorana"? It is mentioned earlier in the same verse that their noor will be on their front and on their right sides, why then they need to say this? Was that noor imperfect or incomplete? How would it becomes perfect or complete?
