are Muslims allowed to drink from a cup that's designs for wine?

salam everyone

I recently heard that you cannot drink from a cup that was designed for alcohol such as shot glasses, wine cups, whiskey cups... is this true?

I also heard its only haram if you act like you're drinking wine or alcohol/.

anyone have answers?

The glass is not the problem, the wine is the problem.

If it’s a gateway maybe then it’s a problem, if you don’t think you’ll have that problem then what’s wrong with using them?

But why? 

It is haram to eat or drink at a table where others are drinking alcohol. Obviously it is a bad idea to pretend to sin for the public to see. Why would you even want to do that?

Maybe in the west sometimes it’s the difference between signing a business deal ..

though definitely one should not compromise on religion ..

It's not. Ayatullah Sistani clearly says sitting on a table where alcohol is being consumed is prohibited. 

Business deals and rizq is from Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى).Pretending you are drinking alcohol to get on good terms with someone for monetary benefits would be deception?

Its not what you are drinking from, its what you are drinking.

I have a large Beer stein that I drink Pepsi from. Not because I like to think I'm drinking beer but because the mug is bigger and fits more Pepsi in it () but it also has a lid that helps keep the carbonation. I'm sure this isn't good for Diabetes and my Dentist hates it but still...

Yes agree with u. I am saying it could be difference between signing “A” business deal in which a certain party is drinking alcohol.. But Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) could have much better for u. 

Perhaps it could be deception depending on your intention.

What about serving alcohol, like as a waiter at a restaurant? The restaurant sells alcohol, a customer orders it, is it permissible to give it to them?

A Muslim should avoid taking such jobs, unless it's a matter of absolute necessity. If a person is already employed in this work, he should ask his supervisor whether another person can serve the alcohol to the customers. He should continue looking for alternate employment that doesn't involve alcohol.
