I think I am compassionate and emphatic to others. I try to understand other people's life and feelings. I try to put myself in their place to feel their emotions. I think it makes people feel less lonely.

Your quote "to make the world a better place" reminds me of Michael Jackson's words for world peace. He was a great humanitarian too.

I used to be an aquatic ecologist. I tested waters for pollution and notified companies if they needed to clean up their effluents. 

I used to drive a town bus. I reduced traffic congestion and got people to where they needed to be in a timely manner. 

I used to work in child care. I provided loving care to the children of people who had to go into the workforce to support their families and make their contribution to society. 

For a short while I worked in a toy store. I helped people find lovely things for their children. I made sure to provide service with a smile and listen to their stories. 

Then I worked in land development. I designed communities with as little environmental impact as practical. 

But what I do now is much more rewarding than any of those. I care for my family, so that my children can grow up to be good adults who put their something into the world. 

I hope to do more someday, but I don't know what yet.

This is me, exactly. I have a job that is okay, but I have been thinking to become a nurse or work at a suicide hotline to comfort people who are hurting.

LOL. I did that for a summer on a research grant.  I did LD 50's on salmon fingerlings...  Good for figuring out pollution levels of effluents, but not so good for the salmon fingerlings.

It’s definitely one of my dream jobs. If I could make a career out of writing, I’d do it in a heartbeat. I really want to teach someday, too. Get a degree in psychology. I love the idea of limitless opportunities.

You can achieve anything you set your heart onto these days. I am studying four diploma courses online. the world and our generation is limitless and age is just a number. Hundred year old's are running marathons and retirement age is always increasing because we are getting younger. Even after all this our soul never dies. That is the grace of Allah (subhana wa tala) alhamdulilah

I grow food - grains, vegetables, fruits - which keep people fed and nourished. But I don't do this out of love for humanity. This is business.

I develop properties that shelter people and keep them safe from the darkness of the night. Again, business not love.

But I do some things out of a sense of love and service. I am part of a charity organisation for the last few years which helps the less fortunate. We provide medical care (check ups, tests, free meds) to those who can't afford it. Some of our members volunteer as teachers and fund less well off families send their kids to school. We also provide aid for unemployed young people set up small businesses and give guarantees so that they are eligible for micro finance loans from the banks. We also step in with goods and services to victims of disasters whenever it happens.

Personally, I contribute with my time and money to the best of my capacity. In fact, I have just returned from our monthly free medical camp held at a middle school. Last year we discovered a disproportionately large number of cases of Hepatitis C in rough neighbourhoods. The patients were not even aware they had the disease until we tested them. The tests are so expensive the poor try to avoid it or delay them until things get complicated.

I'll be a a civil engineer in the future and will work for the government . It's good to contribute to the public sector - you're making people's lives easier. There are a range of services civil engineers can provide to the public ranging from minor capital work projects to major projects.

Currently I'm contributing to a billion dollar project in Australia, where trains will run in twin bored tunnels (30 m deep underground), connecting an existing train station to the airport. I can imagine how convenient it will be having a train line which goes directly to the Airport.

It’s actuallly quite needed right now in our society. My family is Shia but there was death by suicide in my family. It shocked me, he was very Young. But to think that was so close by me, since I know the thoughts and feelings too. That it was possible for a Shi’a to commit such an act. We act like we know the truth but we are as weak as anybody. And maybe it’s not an indocator for lack of faith etc etc

 I just think that could have been me. I could have been that one that was apathetically talked about. Young men are at such high risk for suicide and some societies actually normalize it(which is gross and shocking) and young girls also need a shoulder. Lonely kids are everywhere and lack of empathy is making them into empty husks

the young generation of now and ‘millenials’ need this, and I don’t think it’s human to dismiss these people because we know it’s a sin. Realities can be changed. That’s why I want to be a doctor and help folks through the worst and through being an example.

if I were to have a hospital(Inshallah one day) I would definitely set up a suicide hotline for believing brothers and sisters. Pain is real, just reality is relative

If I am fortunate enough to become a teacher I can help improve the lives of children daily

I try to raise good kids, which to me is the most I’m doing for the world. Besides this, I write a lot, but most of my stuff is not published. I teach and coach to lots of young ones. I organize community events, which sometimes have positive impact on some people. 

I feel like I don’t give much to the world, not as much as I should.

I'm teaching math to 12 year olds in a public school, in the "not advanced" class.  I enjoy it very much.  The other day a child who works hard but still struggles to pass got a B on his test.  It made his day and it made my day.  

Also I'm attempting to teach my non- verbal 7 year old son to read.  

And I'm working on a new environmental protection project of significant local importance.

What Murtaza1 and you have demonstrated is one of the characteristic of wayfarer that is called muruwwat (magnanimity). It is the second stage of Wayfarer after the first stage that is Tawbah (repetance).

It is build trough the Justice:

‘Stand out firmly for justice (4:135).

It has three states. One is live wisely with intelligence by observing yourself, look what are your limits and try to improve yourself.

Second is to be patience with people such that you are satisfied and content with them with respect of their capacity, accepting and understand of their apologies if they have wronged you and being fair to them according your own capacity.

Third is living in need of God where you will be always thankful for everything He gives. And always apologies for all the deed you do for Allah sake, because we may have mixed the actions with others things that is not sincerely for Allah. And be content of Allah will because Allah will always is rightful and good for us.
