Why somethings were created and some were made?

What is the difference between خَلَقَ (created) and جَعَلَ (made)? Why some things are created and some are made?

If im not mistaken creation is something that came from nothing...in other words came into existence out of nothing, whilst make or made ias something coming into existence from things already made or created.

 

For example a soul is created??? A chair is made?

I think we need to have some improved definition of creation keeping in view the verse 6:1 

Allah (s.w.t) created Adam from dust, heavens from the foam of water (as per nehjul balagha), both of them came into being from something.
