Salam, I'm a latino shia muslim convert and I like listening to religious music that brings me closer to God but most shia music is in arabic or english and i cant really understand the songs, is it permissible for me to listen to christian songs about God in my language as long as they don't mention Prophet JEsus as being someone divine or anything deviant

That is impossible to do as most "chr!stians" choose the Words of the Devil out of their gospels for guidance.

Synoptic Gospels say, Satan says, "son of god". [Satan = 'filthy devil', sick 'spirit' in some verses]

lf you like instrumental music as a background 'noise', there are hundreds of them to chose from. Just set the timer so you don't miss salah.

Why do you feel like you need to listen to music? It looks to me you are listening to this music to gain some sort of satisfaction out of it. You should stop this my dear friend. These are quotes from our beloved prophet (SAAWAWS)

https://www.sistani.org/english/book/46/2071/

1. The Messenger of Allãh (s.a.w.) said, “And the person with the [sin of] singing (al-ghinã’) will be raised [on the day of resurrection] blind, deaf and dumb. The person with [the sin of] adultery, of wood-wind, and of drum will also be raised in the same way.”

2. The Messenger of Allãh (s.a.w.) said:, “Whoever listens to the entertainment (song and music), lead will be melted inside his ear on the day of judgement.”

How is christian music halal when they are going to be praising Jesus, calling him god/lord or that he died on the cross for us? Think whether Prophet Muhammad (saawas) or Imam Ali (a.s) would listen to this music, let alone allow it.

Send me an example of what you listen to.

Whether music is haram or halal depends not only on the content but also on the form. This is why many so called islamic songs (in arabic or other languages) are already quite questionable in terms of their permissibility.

If the songs you are referring to sound different to music that is suitable for entertainment gatherings and if their content is acceptable from a religious point of view, then only is it permissible.
