Abu Ja`far Muhammad b. `Ali b. al-Husayn b. Musa b. Babuwayh al-Qummi (رضي الله عنه) narrated to us. He said: Muhammad b. Muhammad b. `Asim al-Kulayni narrated to us. He said: Muhammad b. Ya`qub al-Kulayni from `Ali b. Muhammad also known as `Alan from Muhammad al-Faraj al-Rakhji.

He said: I wrote to Abi’l Hasan `Ali b. Muhammad b. `Ali b. Musa b. Ja`far b. Muhammad b. `Ali b. al-Husayn b. `Ali b. Abi Talib (عليه السلام) asking him about what Hisham b. al-Hakam said regarding the body [of Allah] and what Hisham b. Salim said regarding the form. So, he (عليه السلام) wrote: Leave the perplexity of the perplexed and seek refuge in Allah from Satan. The [correct] doctrine is not what the two Hishams have said.

Muhammad b. Musa b. al-Mutawakkil (rh) narrated to us. He said: `Ali b. Ibrahim narrated to us from his father from al-Saqr b. Dulf.

He said: I asked Abu’l Hasan `Ali b. Muhammad b. `Ali b. Musa al-Rida (عليه السلام) about monotheism, and I said that I take the doctrine of Hisham b. al-Hakam. So, he (عليه السلام) became angry and said: What is with you and the doctrine of Hisham? Whoever alleges that Allah is a body is not of us, and we dissociate from him in this world and the Hereafter. O Ibn Dulf! Surely, a body is generated, and Allah is its generator and its maker.

My father (رضي الله عنه) narrated to us. He said: Sa`d b. `Abdullah narrated to us. He said: Muhammad b. `Isa b. `Ubayd al-Yaqtini narrated to us.

He said: `Ali b. Muhammad b. `Ali b. Musa al-Rida (عليه السلام) wrote to one of his Shi`a in Baghdad: In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful. May Allah protect us and you from sedition, for if He does, then it will be a great blessing! If He does not, then that is perdition. We see the argumentation regarding the [createdness of the] Quran as an innovation (bid`a) in which the questioner and the answerer are partners in. The questioner engages in that which is not his [to engage in], and the answerer assigns [to himself] that which is not incumbent to him. There is no creator but Allah, and everything other than Him is created. The Quran is the words of Allah, so do not give it a name from yourself, lest you be from the misguided. May Allah make us and you of those who fear their Lord with regards to the unseen, as they are in awe of the Hour.

Does this mean that Hisham b. al-Hakam will not be with Ahlulbayt in hereafter? Or did Hisham b. al-Hakam changed his view later? If he is not with Ahlulbayt (عليه السلام), why do we take his narrations?

It can be read that "anyone who takes the doctrine of Hisham" (ie the doctrine associated with Hisham, ie tajsim) will be dissociated from. There is a long scholarly discussion on whether Hisham actually believed in tajsim
