as salaam alakim!

I heard experiences of some and I was told that Shias(not all!) look down on converts expecially in the US!I was told that I wouldn't be accepted!

Is this true(for Some) What do you guys think?

Wa aleikom alsalam

Who told you this? A friend or a foe? What could be their motive?

In islam there is only one thing that determines the value of a person, taqwa. Not whether you were born Muslim or not.

There are good people and bad people in every community so you will probably meet both kinds. The majority are decent people so dont worry. Bad people will be bad to you no matter if you are a convert or not.

By the way, many shias actually admire converts for their openmindedness and courage amongst many other things. And some shias love converts more than regular shias.

Two of my closest friends happen to be converts.

Bismehe Ta3ala

Assalam Alikum brother

In every community you will find good and bad.

Befriend anyone who has good akhlaq and taqwa.

It really depends on what kind of community is already existing where you are. I've never lived near a Shia community, but I was made to feel very uncomfortable in the Sunni community where I used to live because I was divorced with children before I converted, and one of my sons was developmentally delayed.

Shia families and individuals that I've met have been more welcoming, but that might have been because they just met us and most people are nice to strangers.

It is possible that you'll be treated as an outsider, but you have to not let that bother you, keep looking for the good people. Hopefully it won't be the case.

A Muslim living in Western Countries who doesn't care of his religion duties looks down on converts? Mostly possible.
