Can someone explain why people place Qurans on top of their head at the shrines?

It's tradition to put the Quran on your head. Different people have reasons for it, but it's symbolic. You want the wisdom of the Quran to come to your head. If you put the Quran on your heart people would say its a bidah. Imam Ali AS put the Quran on his head. @Ibn al-Hussain

Messenger of Allah (s), "Verily, I am leaving behind two precious things (thaqalayn) among you: the Book of God and my kindred (`itrah), my household (Ahl al-Bayt), for indeed, the two will never separate until they come back to me by the Pond (of al-Kawthar on the Day of Judgment)."

i am neither shia or sunni, i pray both styles and respect both beliefs...... until we get to hearsay and ridiculousness within both sects hadiths. every explanation i saw said "symbolizes", thats shirk. as far as Imam Ali ((عليه السلام).) goes, as i stated before, hadiths are hadiths and are all hearssay. if it was fact, there would be know "level of strwngth". somethings wr must refer because of the minute details such as how to pray and/or fast. common sense and logic tells us all the rest is just hearsay.
