This is quite embarrassing, but I really need those ahadiths. I know I have seen a lot of them, but I never saved them :-/. I need as many of ahadiths that clearly states from the Prophet (pbuh & hf) that he said there will be 12 Imams (FROM SHIA SOURCES. I DONT WANT SUNNI SOURCES). And that Imam Ali (3) was appointed etc. I know I have seen a hadith where the Propbet (pbuh & hf) said all of these Imams (3) by name. And can you get the grading as well? Jazakullah alfi khair!

Salam. There are Sunni sources, but since you asked for Shia sources, see the book Verses of Ghadir, especially the chapter called The Prophet (S) Foretells About The Twelve Imams (a.s.) including the following:

Hadith of the Twelve Imams

(A) The Origin of the Word

(B) The Divine Promise of Unknown Leadership is Impracticable

(C) The Imams are from Quraysh, but from the Ahl al-Bayt

(D) Hadiths Explaining the Narration of the Twelve Imams

(E) Twelve Imams and Twelve Months

etc. Get PDF

In this article the author proves the authenticity of Kitab Sulaym Bin Qays which is arguably one of the most early shia sources which has the names of the 12 imams

Here is the hadith:

"Alee (a.s) said: "I adjure you all to Allah (zwj), do you know that Rasool Allah (saw) stood up to preach – and he never preached after it – and said: 'O you people! I am leaving among you all two commands, you will not stray if you attach yourselves to these two – the Book of Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى and my family, the people of my household, for it has been promised to me by the Kind, the Aware سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى that these two will never separate until they return to meet at the Fountain?' They said, 'Our Allah (zwj), yes, we have heard all of that from Rasool Allah (saw).'

Alee (a.s) said: 'Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى is Sufficient for me.' Twelve from the group of the people of Badr stood up and said, 'We testify that when Rasool Allah (saw) preached on the day in which he passed away, Umar bin Al-Khattab stood up angrily and said, 'O Rasool Allah (saw)! All the people of your household?' He (saw) said: 'No, but my successors. My brother among them, who is my Vizier, and my inheritor, and my Caliph in my community, and the Guardian of every believer after me, and eleven from his sons (a.s).'

This (Alee (a.s)) is the first of them and the best of them, then two of my sons, these two – and indicated by his hand to Al-Hassan (a.s) and Al-Hussain (a.s) – then the successors of my son who will be named with the name of my brother Alee (a.s), and he will be the son of Al-Hussain (a.s), then the successor of Alee (a.s) and he is his son and his name is Muhammad (a.s), then Ja'far ibn Muhammad (a.s), then Musa ibn Ja'far (a.s), then Alee bin Musa (a.s), then Muhammad ibn Alee (a.s), then Alee ibn Muhammad (a.s), then Al-Hassan ibn Alee (a.s), then Muhammad ibn Al-Hassan Al-Mahdi (ajf) of the community.

His (a.s) name is like my name and his clay (Tennat) is like my Tennat. He will order what Isa (a.s) ordered, and prevent what Isa (a.s) prevented. He will fill the earth with fairness and justice just as it had been filled with inequity and injustice. One of them will rise after the other, one after another until they return to me at the Fountain. They are the witnesses of Allah (zwj) in His earth, and His Proofs over His creatures. The one who obeys them has obeyed Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى, and the one who disobeys them (a.s) has disobeyed Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى. So the remainder of the seventy people of Badr, and like of them from the later ones stood up and said, 'You (a.s) have reminded us of what we had forgotten. We testify that we have heard that from Rasool Allah (saw).'"

Here is another article where the author provides ahadith from other shia sources.

http://www.revivingalislam.com/2010/08/12-imaams-mentioned-by-name-explicitly.html

This article by brothe Nader Zaveri shows a sahih hadith naming all the twelve imams.

"Aboo Ja`far Al-Thaanee (Imaam Al-Taqee Al-Jawaad) said: "Once Amir al-Mu’minin `Alee عليه السلام came with al-Hassan and al-Husayn and he was holding the hand of Salman for support. He entered the sacred Mosque in Makka and sat down. Then a good looking and well dressed man came. He offered the greeting of peace to Amir al-Mu’minin `Alee عليه السلام who answered his greetings likewise and he sat down. He then said, "I will ask you three questions. If you would answer them I will acknowledge that the people who have acted against you in the matters of leadership after the Holy Prophet (s.a) they have acted against their own selves. Their actions have taken away peace from them in this world as well in the next life. If it would be otherwise, (you can answer) then you and those people will be the same." Amir al-Mu’minin`Alee عليه السلام said, "Ask whatever you would like." He said, "Tell about the man who sleeps. Where does his spirit go?" Tell about the man, how he remembers and forgets? Tell me about the man how do his children become similar to the aunts and uncles?" Amir al-Mu’minin `Alee عليه السلام turned to al-Hassan and said, "O Aboo Muhammad, answer him." The narrator has said that al-Hassan answered his questions. The man then said,

"I testify that there is no lord besides Allah and I continue to testify to this fact. I testify that Muhammad صلّى الله عليه وآله is the Messenger of Allah and I continue to testify to this fact I testify that you are the executor of the will of the Messenger of Allah and that you are the in charge of this task ((Leadership with Divine Authority) with His authorization." He pointed out to Amir al-Mu’minin عليه السلام with his hand. He then said, "I continue to testify to this fact." "I testify that you are the executor of his (Amir al-Mu’minin’s عليه السلام will and the in charge of this task ((Leadership with Divine Authority) by His authorization after him (Amir alMu’minin عليه السلام " He pointed out with his hand to al-Hassan عليه السلام. Then He then said, "I continue to testify to this fact."

"I testify that al-Husayn ibn `Alee عليه السلام will be the executor of the will of his brother and the in charge of this task ((Leadership with Divine Authority) with His authorization after him.

"I testify in support of `Alee ibn al-Husayn عليه السلام that he will be the in charge of the task of al-Husayn after him.

"I testify that Muhammad ibn `Alee will be the in charge of the task of `Alee ibn al-Husayn عليه السلام after him.

"I testify that Ja‘far ibn Muhammad عليه السلام will be the in charge of the task of Muhammad ibn `Alee عليه السلام.

"I testify that Moosa will be the in charge of the task of Ja‘far ibn Muhammad after him.

"I testify that `Alee ibn Moosa will be the in charge of the task of Moosa ibn Ja‘far عليه السلام.

"I testify that Muhammad ibn `Alee عليه السلام will be the in charge of the task of `Alee ibn Moosa عليه السلام after him.

"I testify that `Alee ibn Muhammad will be the in charge of the task of Muhammad ibn `Alee عليه السلام after him.

"I testify that al-Hassan ibn `Alee عليه السلام will be the in charge of the task of `Alee ibn Muhammad عليه السلام after him.

"I testify in support of a man from the children of al-Hassan who will not be mentioned by his Kunya (father or son of so and so) or his name until he will rise with Divine authority to fill the earth with justice after being filled with injustice."

I offer you my greeting of peace O Amir al-Mu’minin عليه السلام and praay to Allah to grant you blessings and holiness." He then stood up and left. Amir al-Mu’minin عليه السلام said, "O Aboo Muhammad follow him and see where went." Al-Hassan ibn `Alee عليه السلام went out to find out (and came back) and said, "As soon as he stepped out of the Mosque I could not figure out in which direction of the earth of Allah did he disappear. I returned to Amir al-Mu’minin عليه السلام and informed him." He said, "O Aboo Muhammad, do you know him?" I said, Allah, the Messenger of Allah and Amir al-Mu’minin عليه السلام know best." He said, "He was al-Khidr عليه السلام "

Some try to argue that the above hadith in al kafi was fabricated as the same hadith can be found in kitab al-mahasin however in that version the names of the 12 imams are not mentioned. The answer is the fact that the copy we have today of kitab al-mahasin is not reliable and cannot be taken over the book of al kafi and the books sheik Saduq.

Wa aleykumsalaam,

We have plenty of authentic hadeeth, I have quoted one authentic hadeeth for each topic, you can read more from the link i have provided.

#1: There will be 12 Imams

Ahmad ibn Ziyad ibn Ja’far al-Hamadani - may God be pleased with him - narrated that Ali ibn Ibrahim ibn Hashem quoted on the authority of his father, on the authority of Muhammad ibn Abi Omayr, on the authority of Ghiyath ibn Ibrahim, on the authority of As-Sadiq Ja’far ibn Muhammad (s), on the authority of his father Muhammad ibn Ali (s), on the authority of his father Ali ibn Al-Hussein (s), on the authority of his father Al-Hussein ibn Ali (s) that the Commander of the Faithful (s) was questioned about the meaning of what God’s Prophet (s) said,

“I will leave behind two heavy things with you: God’s Book and my ‘Itra.” He (s) was asked, “What does “my ‘Itra” mean?” He (s) replied, “It is I, Al-Hassan, Al-Hussein and the other nine Divine Leaders from the descendants of Al-Hussein. The ninth of them is their Al-Mahdi (Divinely Guided One) who is their Riser. They will not separate themselves from God’s Book and God’s Book will not separate from them until they meet God’s Prophet (s) at his Pool.”

#2:Imam Ali was appointed

Mohammad bin Ahmed bin Yahya from Mohammad bin Hussein from Hujjal from Abdus Samad bin Basher from Hassan ul Jamal who said:

I was accompanying Abu Adullah(as) from Madina to Mecca and when we reached Masjid-e-Ghadeer and Imam looked at it, he said, "This is the foothold of holy prophet (sawas) where he had said "Whosoever I am Master of, Ali is also his Master" and then he looked at one end and said,"That is where Abu fulan(Abu bakar) and fulan(Umar) and Salam freed slave of Abu Hudaifa and Abu Ubaida bin Jarah after seeing holy prophet raising Ali, told each other that "look at his eyes, as if he is mujnoon(mad)" Jibrail then descended and revealed this Verse, "And those who disbelieve would almost smite you with their eyes when they hear the reminder, and they say: Most surely he is mad. And it is Naught but a reminder to the nations."(68:51,52)

#3: 12 Imams by name

Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from ‘Abd Allah ibn Jundab who has said the following:

“I asked abu al-Hassan, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, about what to say in prostration for thanksgiving because our people are not of the same idea about it. He told me to say the following in a prostrating position: ‘O Lord, I beg You to bear witness, I beg Your angels, Your prophets, messengers and all of Your creatures to bear witness (to my testimony) that You are Allah. You are my Lord. Islam is my religion and Muhammad is my prophet. Ali,‘al-Hassan, al-Husayn, Ali ibn al-Husayn, Muhammad ibn Ali, Ja‘far ibn Muhammad, Musa ibn Ja‘far, Ali ibn Musa, Muhammad ibn Ali, Ali ibn Muhammad, al-Hassan ibn Ali and Hujjat ibn al-Hasan  are my `A’immah, ‘Alayhim al-Salam. In which hadith frequently reported the designation of the imam and the name of the imams appear clearly?
Question
Please present an example of a frequently reported Shiite hadith that mentions the imamat's imam designation and their names.
Summary of the answer

There are several hadiths in the Sunni and Shiite books in which the names of the imams mentioned and most of these hadiths frequently reported. Some of these hadiths were compiled by Ayatollah Safi Golpagayni in the book Mountahaboul assar. So we recommend you to read this book full of importance.

Detailed answer

There are several hadiths in the Sunni and Shiite books in which the names of the imams mentioned and most of these hadiths frequently reported. Some of these hadiths were compiled by Ayatollah Safi Golpagayni in the book Mountahaboul assar. Here we select hadiths from authentic Sunni books (Yanabi al mawwada) and Shiite books:

1 - When this verse: "O those who believed, obey Allah and obey the prophet and obey those who hold the command" [1] was revealed and the obligation to obey those who hold the command of to present oneself in an absolute manner to the point of being placed at the same pitch with obedience to the prophet (ç) Jabir ibn Abdullah Ansari asked the messenger who was "those who hold the command" (Oulou amr)? The messenger replied, "These are the caliphs O Jabir and the Imams of the Muslims after me. The first is Ali ibn Abu Talib, then comes Hassan, Then Hossein, then Ali ibn Hossein, then Mohammad ibn Ali known in the Torah as Baqir, you will know his time O Jabir. The day that meets will transmit him my greetings. Then comes Al Sadiq Ja'far ibn Mohammad then Moussa ibn Ja'far then Ali ibn Moussa then Mohammad ibn Ali Ali ibn Mohammad next, then Hassan ibn Ali and the one who bears my name my nickname, the divine evidence on his land, his last guide among his creatures, Hassan ibn Ali the one by whom God will conquer the eastern part of the earth as well as its western part. It is the one who will be concealed from his Shiites. He will confirm his authority and his imamate only the God whose heart and faith will feel. " [2]

2 - Imam Ali (as) relates: "I came to see the messenger of God in the house of Oummu Salama and" the verse Tadhir " [3] was revealed to the prophet and he said to me," This verse is revealed to your honor and that of your children Hassan and Hossein as well as the imams who will come out of your descendants. I say, O messenger of God, how many people will be appointed as imam after you? The prophet replied: "After you, you will become you will be imam, after you will come Hassan, Hossein after Hossein will succeed his son Ali ibn Hossein, after Ali ibn Hossein will come his son Mohammad, after Mohammad will come the son of Mohammad Ja'far, after will come Moussa the son of Ja'far, after Moussa will come Ali after Ali will come Mohammad Ali's son after Mohammad will come his Ali son and after Ali will come his son Hassan, Hassan and after will succeed his son Al Mahdi. Their names are thus written in this order on the corners of the throne. That's how I asked God who they were, he replied: "They are the imams after you, they are pure, infallible and their enemies are cursed" [4]

It is reported from ibn Abbas a tradition in which the messa ger responds to a Jew named Nâ'ssal who had asked the question about imams after the prophet (ç). Exposing the names of the imams, the messenger replied: "After me Ali, after Ali his child Hassan, after Hassan his son brother Hossein will accede to the Imamate and after Hossein Ali nicknamed Zeynoul Abidine and after him will come Mohammad known by the nickname of Al Baqir and after Mohammad will come Ja'far nicknamed Sadiq and after him will come his son Moussa called Al Kazim and after Kazim will come his son Ali nicknamed AL Reza and after Ali will come his son Mohammad Taqi and after will come Ali Naki Al Hadi the son of Mohammad Taqi, and after will come Hassan Askari the son of Ali Taqi and after Hassan Askari will come Mohammad Mahdi the guide. These are the names of the imams of Muslims.[5]

Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from ‘Abd Allah ibn Jundab who has said the following:

I asked abu al-Hassan, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, about what to say in prostration for thanksgiving because our people are not of the same idea about it. [Quoted excerpt from long hadeeth]

  2. Tahdhīb al-Ahkaam by Shaykh Toosi, Vol 2, Pg 111.

Brother what would you say to people who accuse that the names were fabricated as in al kafi, kitab as-salah, chapter of sajdah (#26), hadith number 17, the same hadith is there however the names are not included.

Sorry brother but upon further inspection I found that even this hadith in tahdhib al-ahkam does not include the names. It says:

In saying this, Sheikh al-Saduq does mention this hadith, with all the names.

I know Shaykh Tusi does not mention the names of all Imams, that is why I first listed Wasail al-Shia source first. Shaykh Hurr has took hadeeth from Man la Yaḥḍuruh al-Faqīh, in which all the names are mentioned.

HADITH 29: Hadith Al-Lawh(The tablet)

A famous Hadith. Transmitted via numerous narrators through multiple different chains. Majority of the narrators are generally reliable and trustworthy in what they have transmitted.

First chain of narrators:

Al-Kulayni ر: From Muhammad bin Yahya, from Muhammad bin Al-Hussayn, from Ibn Mahbub, from Abi Al-Jarud, from Abi Ja’far, from Jaber bin Abdullah Al-Ansariر who said:

I saw Fatima ع and between her hands was a tablet which had the names of the Awsiya from her sons. She counted them to be 12 with the last of them being the Qa’im , three of them named Muhammad and three named ‘Ali. [Al-Kafi: Volume 1, Hadith 532]

Second chain:

Al-Saduq ر: Narrated to me my father, from Sa’ad bin Abdullah who said: Narrated to us Muhamad bin Al-Hussain bin Abi Al-Khatab, from Al-Hassan bin Mahbub, from Abi Jarud, from Abi Ja’farع, from Jaber bin Abdullah Al-Ansari ر:

I saw Fatima ع and between her hands was a tablet which had the names of the Awsiya from her sons. She counted them to be 12 with the last of them being the Qa’im, three of them named Muhammad and three named ‘Ali. [Al-Khisal: Hadith 477]

Third chain:

Al-Fadhal bin Shathan ر: Narrated to us Safwan bin Yahya, from Abi Ayub Ibrahim bin Ziyad Al-Khazaz, from Abi Hamzah Al-Thamli, from Abi Khaled Al-Kabli who said:

I entered the house of my master ‘Ali bin Al-Hussain ع and in his hands was a page he was looking at and crying intensely. I said: “What is this page?” He said: “This is a copy of the tablet that was given by Allah Almighty to his messenger.  And in it is the name of Allahس, his messenger, Amir Al-Mu’mineen , my uncle Al-Hasssan bin ‘Ali , my father , my name, the name of my son Muhammad Al-Baqir, his son Ja’far Al-Sadeq, his son Musa Al-Kadhem, his son ‘Ali Al-Redha, his son Muhammad Al-Taqi, his son ‘Ali Al-Naqi, his son Al-Hassan Al-Askari, and his son  who will carry out the command of Allah, who will go into a long occultation and will eventually reappear and fill the earth with righteousness and justice over what has filled it in injustice and darkness.”. [ithbat Al-Hidat of Al-Hur Al-‘Amli: Hadith 781]

Other different chains of narrators with roughly the same context as the ones above:

Fourth chain:

Al-Khazaz Al-Qummi ر: From ‘Ali bin Al-Hussain, from Muhammad bin Al-Hussain Al-Kufi, from Meysah bin ‘Abdullah, from ‘Abdullah bin Muhammad bin ‘Abdullah Al-Qarshi, from Muhammad bin Sa’ad, from Muhammad bin ‘Umar Al-Waqdi, from Abi Marwan, from Abi Ja’far Muhammad bin ‘Alim from Jabber:”………” [Kifayat Al-Athar: Hadith 197]

Fifth chain:

Al-Tusi ر:  Abu Muhammad Al-Faham said:  Narrated to me my uncle who said: Narrated to me Abu Al-‘Abbas Ahmad bin ‘Abd Allah bin ‘Ali Al-Ra’s who said: Narrated to me Abu  ‘Abdullah ‘Abd Al-Rahman bin ‘Abd AllahAl-‘Umari who said: Narrated to us Abu Salmah Yahyah bin Al-Mugherah who said: Narrated to me my brother Muhammad bin Al-Mugheerah, from Muhammad bin Sinan from our master Abi ‘Abdullah Ja’afar bin Muhammadع: “……….” [ Al-Amali of Al-Shaykh Al-Tusi: Majlis 11, Hadith 13]

Sixth chain:

Al-Saduq ر: Narrated to us Abu Muhammad Al-Hassan bin Hamzah Al-‘lawi, he said, narrated to us Abu Ja’far Muhammad bin Al-Hussain bin Dirset, from Ja’far bin Muhammad bin Malik who said, narrated to us Muhammad bin ‘Imran Al-Kufi, from ‘Abdulah Al-Rahman bin Abi Najran and Safwan bin Yahya, from Ishaq bin ‘Amar, from Abi ‘Abdillah Al-Sadeqع:”………..” [Kamal Al-Din Wa Tamam Al-Ni’mah: Section 28, Hadith 312]

just wanted to add some more ahadeeth:

Abi Basir from Abi Abdullah (a.s), he (a.s) said: Once, my father said to Jabir ibn Abd Allah Al-Ansari, "I need your help in a certain issue. When do you think it will be convenient for you that we meet privately and I will ask you about it?" He (Jabir) said, "Whenever you like, it will be alright for me."

One day when they met each other he, recipient of divine supreme covenant, said, "O Jabir, tell me about the tablet that you saw in the hand of my great-great-great grandmother, Faatima (s.a), daughter of the Messenger of Allah (saw). Tell me of what she said to you about the tablet and the writing on it?" Jabir then said, "I ask Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى to testify (to the truth of what I experienced that day). Once I went to see your great-great-great grandmother, Faatima (s.a), in the lifetime of the Messenger of Allah (saw). I congratulated her for the birth of Al-Hussain (a.s), and I saw in her hand a green tablet that I think was made of Emerald (precious gem). I saw on it a white writing that was shining like the colour of the Sun. I then said to her, 'May Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى keep my soul and the souls of my parents in service for your cause, O daughter of the Messenger of Allah (saw), what is this tablet?' She said, 'This is a tablet that Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى has given as a gift to His Messenger (saw). In it there is the name of my father, the name of my husband, the names of my two sons and the names of the executors of the wills of my (special) descendents. My father gave it to me as a gift and glad news.'"

Jabir then said, "Your great-great-great grandmother, recipient of divine supreme covenant, then gave the tablet to me. I read it and made a copy of it." My father then said, "O Jabir, can you show that copy (that you made from the tablet) to me?" He said, "Yes, I can show it to you." My father went with him to his house and he brought to light a tablet of parchment. He then said, "O Jabir, look carefully at your writing to see how I read it for you." Jabir then kept looking at his handwriting while my father read and his reading was exactly letter by letter the same as what Jabir had in his copy.
Jabir then said, "I ask Allah to testify to the truth of my words that this is what I saw was written on the tablet: '(I begin) in the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful. This is a document from Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Wise, for Muhammad (saw), His Prophet, recipient of divine supreme covenant, His light, His ambassador, His barrier (Hijab) and His guide (for people). The trusted Spirit has brought it from the Lord of the worlds. O Muhammad (saw), acknowledge the greatness of My names and pay thanks for My bounties. Do not hide My favours. I Am Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى and no one deserves to be worshipped and obeyed besides Me. I break down the transgressors and grant wealth to the oppressed. I Am the One Who has established the religion. I Am Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى. No one deserves to be worshipped and obeyed besides Me. Whoever expects to receive any distinction from someone other than Me or have fear of the justice of someone other than Me I will cause him to suffer a torment the like of which I will cause no one else of the creatures of the worlds to suffer. Worship only Me and place your trust only in Me.

I have not sent any prophet without, upon the completion of his days, appointing the executor of his will. I have given preference to you over the prophets and I have given preference to the executor of your will over the executors of the wills (of the other prophets). I have granted you honor through your two brave grandsons, Al-Hassan (a.s) and Al-Hussain (a.s). I have made Al-Hassan (a.s) to be the treasurer of My knowledge after the completion of the time of his father. I have made Al-Hussain (a.s), to be the keeper of My revelation Wahi (inspiration). I have granted him nobility through martyrdom and made his end triumphant. He will be the best of the martyrs and of the highest degree in the rank of the martyrs. I have kept My perfect word with him and My extremely clear authority and proof available for him. Through his descendent I will give good rewards to people or cause them to suffer torments. The first of them will be Alee (ibn Al-Hussain (a.s)), master of the worshippers, and the beauty of My friends of the past. Then will be his son who will be very similar to his grandfather, the praised one, Muhammad Al-Baqir (a.s), the one very deeply founded in My knowledge and the source and mine of My wisdom. Those who have doubts about Ja'far (a.s) will soon be destroyed. Whoever rejects him will be like one who rejects Me. The true words have already come from Me that I will dignify the position of Ja'far (a.s) and will grant him joy and happiness for his followers, supporters and friends. After him Musa (a.s) will live at the time of a blind, confusing and dark mischief. (He will live among the people) because the system of obedience to Me does not break down and my authority (proof of My existence) does not remain obscure. The thirst (for knowledge and guidance) of My friends will be quenched with sufficient measures. Whoever rejects any one of them has rejected my favours. Whoever changes my signs and verses of my book has accused Me with lies. Woe is to those who fabricate lies and reject (the truth) after the completion of the time of Musa (a.s), My servant, My beloved, My chosen one about Alee (Al-Ridha (a.s)). (Alee Al-Ridha (a.s)) who is My wali (the one who possesses Divine Authority), My supporter, the one on whom I will place the task of prophet-hood and examine how he will deal with it. An arrogant devil will murder him. He will be buried in the city built by the virtuous servant (of Allah (swt)) next to the worst of My creatures. The words of truth have already been established that I will grant him joy and happiness with the birth of his son, Muhammad (a.s), his successor and the heir of his knowledge. He is the source and fountainhead of My knowledge, the right place for My secrets and My authority over My creatures. Whoever believes in him I will make paradise his dwelling and will grant him the ability to intercede for seventy people from his family of whom everyone may have become subject to hell-fire. I will make the end for his son, Alee (a.s) to arrive at salvation. Alee (a.s) is My wali (the one who possesses Divine Authority), My supporter, the testimony in My creatures and My trustee in My revelation. From him I will make to come out a preacher to My way and a treasure of My Knowledge, Al-Hassan (a.s). I will complete it with his son (Mahdi (ajf)), a blessing for the worlds. One will be able to find in him the perfection of Musa (Moses (a.s)), the beauty of Jesus (a.s) and the patience of Ayyub (a.s). My friends in his time will become weak. Their heads will be sent as gifts like the heads of the Turks and Daylam. They will be murdered and burned. They will live in fear, frightened and fearful. The earth will be stained with their blood and wailing and lamentations will become widespread in their women. These will possess My authority and through them I will remove the blind and dark mischief. Through them I will remove uncertainties, sufferings and shackles. These are the ones upon whom the blessings and forgiveness of their Lord descend and they are the ones who provide guidance.'"

Abd Al-Rahman ibn Salim has said that Aboo Basir said, "Even if you hear no other Hadeeth except this, it will be enough for you. Protect it against everyone except the deserving people."

(al Kafi kitab al hujjah, ch.125, h.3)

Now some have objections to this hadith. The first being one of the narrators, bakr bin salih, being weakened by Najashi. Sheikh Mahuzi refutes this:
Bakr ibn Saleh: he is Al-Razi Mawla Bani Dhubba. He narrates from Al-Kadhim (a.s) and he is of the companions of Al-Ridha (a.s) and Al-Jawad (a.s). Sheikh Al-Najashi has weakened him, but Sadooq has considered his book among the famous and reliable books that scholars refer to and use and his narrations up to him as Saheeh (Authentic), and he has narrated many narrations in the four major books that are trusted among the Shi'a as numerous trustworthy narrators and scholars narrate from him, like the great scholars Al-Hussain ibn Sa'eed Al-Ahwazi and the trustworthy Alee ibn Mahziyaar and Sheikh of the scholars of Qum the great trustworthy scholar Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Isa and the upright and trustworthy Al-Hassan ibn Dhareef, and the weakening of Al-Najashi is based on the weakening of ibn Al-Ghazairi, Ahmad ibn Al-Hussain as Al-Allamah Al-Hilli in Al-Khulasa and the scholars of Rijal do not rely on the weakenings of ibn Al-Ghazairi the son.
http://www.revisitingthesalaf.com/2015/03/imam-al-mahdi-ajf-part-v_20.html
For the next objection i will be quoting from an anti-shia website

"Another problematic issue in the narration is that Abu Baseer was someone that did not know the Imams, as we find in other reports.

1.He assumes in the Chapter of Imamate being a Covenant from Allah (hadith #1) that Isma’eel bin Ja’afar is the Imam after Ja’afar.

2.In the Chapter of the Imams are in the Descendants (hadith #7) he asks Musa Al-Kathim, “What are the signs of the Imam?” Of course, if he knew their names, then he wouldn’t ask.

3.In the Chapter 33 of Ikmal Al-Deen, he is shocked when Mohammad bin Imran tells him that he heard Ja’afar Al-Sadiq say that there will be Twelve Mahdis (meaning Imams). He forces him to swear by Allah twice that he heard this. Then, Abu Baseer says that he heard this from Al-Baqir, which is evidence that he never heard such a thing from Ja’afar Al-Sadiq. The narration is authentic and shows that Abu Baseer only knew of the number of Imams and not their names."

As for the first point, then the hadith they are referring to has been classed as weak by Allamah Majlisi. Same as the second point the hadith is weak. Even if we accept the hadith asking for the signs of an imam does not necessarily mean he did not know who they were. Some twelvers may ask in the 21st century what the signs of an imam are however that does not mean they don't know the imams. As for the third point then their argument is pretty unclear. No where does it imply Abu Baseer did not know the names of the imams. Even if we accept, then it is quite possible that the narration of the tablet was mentioned to Abu Baseer afterwards.

A better chain is #24 on page 105 . source-http://alfeker.net/library.php?id=1069

The chain is as follows:

حدثنا الحسين بن علي، قال حدثنا هارون بن موسى، قال (3) محمد  بن الحسن، قال حدثنا محمد بن الحسن الصفار، عن يعقوب ابن يزيد [عن (4) محمد] بن أبي عمير، عن هشام قال: كنت عند الصادق جعفر بن محمد عليهما السلام

The only person to pick on in the chain is al-Khazzaz's - one of our ancient Fuqah and Muhadditheen - direct Shaykh al-Husayn b. `Ali b. Muhammad al-Razi who is - clearly - functioning as his Shaykh al-Ijaza to al-Tul`akburi رحمه الله whose books and narrations were extremely famous and he was a source for the Imamia. al-Kazzaz gives him - his shaykh - tarahhum and declares the hadith he has narrated to be authentic. The rest of the chain are the core of the Ta'ifa رحمهم الله.

if someone could translate this hadith that would be great

This is quite embarrassing, but I really need those ahadiths. I know I have seen a lot of them, but I never saved them :-/. I need as many of ahadiths that clearly states from the Prophet (pbuh & hf) that he said there will be 12 Imams (FROM SHIA SOURCES. I DONT WANT SUNNI SOURCES). And that Imam Ali (3) was appointed etc. I know I have seen a hadith where the Propbet (pbuh & hf) said all of these Imams (3) by name. And can you get the grading as well? Jazakullah alfi khair!

Here are a few narrations at this link
