If you think about it the islamic revolution benefited the west, they get to sell weapons to surrounding sunni countries who fear Iran as a boogyman. Why would the west overthrow the nation thats getting it money from its enemies?

و علیک السلام و رحمت الله  brother/sister,

I don't think our brother/sister has created this topic for a bad intention. And by "it could be true", he/she means it may be a strategic plan by Imam Khomeini to cheat them.

Anyways, No. This is not true. For example if you read "Declassified diplomacy: Washington’s hesitant plans for a military coup in pre-revolution Iran" which talks about General Huyser’s secret mission to Iran, it would be enough to understand that US was having hesitant reactions to the Revolution and was trying to prevent it from happening. They also tried to communicate with Imam Khomeini in this process. The messages exchanged between American officials and Imam Khomeini aren't secret and are available in the Sahifeh Noor (A book consisted of Imam Khomeini's letters, messages, remarks, speech etc.). Here is part of Imam Khomeini's message to Carter, while he's threatening him:"I recommend you to prevent a coup, for if it happens, the people will hold you responsible for it, and it will be detrimental to you. This is my entire message to Carter"

We have talked about it earlier. For details please refer to these posts:

I have read it several times, and I think you are misreporting it. Where does he talk about American "interests"?

The message completely fits in the context: Americans being stressed out about American lives in Iran, Imam telling them back off to remain safe. It even has a threatening tone. (However, in the long run, they didn't back off, thus endangered American lives in Iran, the hostage situation)

Now, upon the hoax created over this news, Ibrahim Yazdi, the one who passed the message to Zimmerman, made some comments in an interview:

https://www.tasnimnews.com/fa/news/1394/08/17/910186/ابراهیم-یزدی-خبر-بی-بی-سی-را-تکذیب-کرد

Main points he made:

1- Aqa (He doesn't refer to him as Imam, he made a split with revolution later) Khomeini never sent a message to Carter first, this message was a response to Carter's earlier message.

2- This is not the first time this message is released, It was first published by Garry Sik in his book Sick, Gary ; All Fall Down. American’s Tragic Encounter With Iran. New York; Random House,1985 , since his version was biased and fragmentary, I (Yazdi) gave my own notes (that I had taken during those days in Paris) to a friend who published the full version in Farsi.

3-This report quotes from Aqa Khomeini "we have no particular animosity with Americans" which in fact and originally was " we have no .... with American people."

And other points.

I also recommend everyone to watch this video to see how American regime tried to save the dictator Shah:

http://english.khamenei.ir/news/5436/Video-America-s-last-ditch-effort-to-save-Iran-s-Dictator

Do you see how criminal these animals in power in the US are? Do you see how they don't consider any constrains in achieving their unjustified goals? Do you see how sad it is to see these people are freely governing a country for decades and except a few individuals no body cares what the regime they are living under is doing all around the world for decades?

Do you see?

When I was in school in Germany in the 80s, my Iranian friends would sometimes claim that the CIA was behind the deposing of the Shah, and were supporting Khomeini. They were especially harsh towards Jimmy Carter, and thought he was complicit in the whole thing. The idea was that Iran was becoming too powerful in the Middle East.

I didn't believe that then, and I don't believe it now.

Truth be told if he did have ties to the CIA, I wouldnt be surprized nobody during the cold war if you weren't pro communist/socialist could get into power without a large power's help also remember he lived in France for a while a pro American nation, anything could've happened.

I still remember about the news (as my understanding during that time) about selling of arms to Iran (Iran scandal in USA by an army officer, Oliver North, i think) after Shah Iran's reign.

So i suspiciously guess that Iran have been helped by some insider within USA.....OR there is other entity...

Well, if tricking for right/true/noble intention is not followed by rule of ethics/akhlaq then one way or another you will be exposed and get caught red handedly (we call it in Indonesian language "tertangkap basah") and get punishment in this world.

Salam

Sometimes in the long run, vicious powers use anything for their own interests.

The greatest enemy to Islam was Abu Sufyan, but his son Muawiya, managed to use the very Islam to establish his kingdom very easily in the name of Islam. Does this make the Prophet (s) an agent for ummayad dynasty? (Nauzu billah)

No, it's the stupidity of people that serves these vicious men the most.

Americans have tried and are trying to milk oil countries, be it a Shah-ruled Iran, or a saudi-ruled hijaz. Sometimes their plan A fails (like the one with Shah) and they come up with plan B. To say they had plan B from the start, is just useless conspiracy theory.
