Hadith proving Wives are Ahlulbayt

Man times sunnis say that ayat tatheer was revealed for the wives. However, we show them the hadith where it was revealed for ahlul kisa. Then they show hadith that try and prove that the verse was revealed for the wives. They argue first with the hadith from ikrimah to ibn abbas which I think is a weak argument because ibn abbas was not present at this event unlike umm salama who said the verse was not revealed for the wives. However, then they bring hadith about umm salama claiming that the verse was revealed for the wives. Can knowledgable brother give the gradings of these chains?

..."He sat them (i.e Al-Hasan & Al-Husien) on his lap, and Ali sat on his right, and Fatima sat on his left. Umm Salama said: he pulled a cloak (a Kisa) from under me … and then he [Salah Allah ‘Alaihi wa Salam] wrapped it around them all, taking the edges of the Cloak by his left hand, and pointing with his right hand towards his Lord [Exalted and Glorified is He] and said: “O Allah, remove from them the Rijs (evil deeds and sins, etc.), and purify them with a thorough purification”, three times. She (umm salama) said: [So] I said: O Messenger of Allah, am I not [also] from your Ahl? [So] he said: Yes, Indeed, [you are]. He said: So enter the Kisa (the cloak) [too]. She said: So I entered after he completed his supplication to his cousin Ali, his sons, and his daughter Fatima"

Umm Salmah said: in my house these verses were revealed ” God wants to remove all kinds of uncleanliness from you Ahlul-Bayt and to purify you thoroughly.” So the Prophet PBUH called for Ali and Fatima and Hassan and Hussein and then said: These are Ahlu-Bayti, In the Hadith of al Qadi and al Summi: They are Ahly. So I said: O Messenger of Allah! aren’t I also from your Ahlul-Bayt? He said: yes you are Inshallah.

On authority of Abd Allah bin Wahb bin Zam’ah, Umm Salamah informed me that the Messenger of Allah SAWS assembled Alii and the two Hasan’s (Husayn and Hasan), he brought them under his thawb, then supplicated to Allah and said: “These are the people of my household”. Then Umm Salamah said: ‘Oh Messenger of Allah, bring me in with them’. He said: “Indeed you are from my household

There are many traditions narrated by the wives of the prophet present in authentic sunni books and no wives of the prophet ever claimed that they were included in Ahl albaayt covered under the verse of purification (33:33) and covered by the prophet saww under the cloak.. The details can be seen at the following link:

"When these Ayat were revealed to the Prophet (ﷺ): 'Allah only wishes to remove the Rijs from you, O members of the family, and to purify you with a thorough purification (33:33)' in the home of Umm Salamah, he called for Fatimah, Hasan, Husain, and wrapped him in the cloak, and 'Ali was behind him, so he wrapped him in the cloak, then he said: 'O Allah! These are the people of my house (ahl albayat) , so remove the Rijs from them, and purify them with a thorough purification.' So Umm Salamah said: 'And I, Prophet of Allah?' He said: 'You are in your place and you are goodness.'"

Sahih Tirmizi

In the tradition of al-Hakim the wording the last question and answer is as follows:

Umm Salama said: "O Prophet of Allah! Am I not one of the members of your family?”The Holy Prophet replied: "You have a good future but only these are the members of my family. O Lord! The members of my family are more deserving."

Sunni reference: al-Mustadrak, by al-Hakim, v2, p416

Also the wording reported by al-Suyuti and Ibn al-Athir is as follows:

Umm Salama said to the Holy Prophet: "Am I also one of them?”He replied: "No. You have your own special position and your future is good."

Sunni reference:

• Usdul Ghabah, by Ibn al-Athir, v2, p289

• Tafsir al-Durr al-Manthoor, by al-Suyuti, v5, p198

Also al-Tabari quotes Umm Salama saying:

I said, "O Prophet of Allah! Am I not also one of your Ahlul-Bayt?”I swear by the Almighty that the Holy Prophet did NOT grant me any distinction and said: "You have a good future."

Sunni reference: Tafsir al-Tabari, v22, p7 under the commentary of verse 33:33

Salam in first hadith Umm Salama (ra)

Says she entered under Kitha after 33:33 so purification Is not about her

In second  انشاالله uses for future not current time.

In third اهلی has different meanings than اهل بیت .

اهلی means she is from family of prophet (pbu ) as prophet said about Salman (ra ) he is from us it doesn't mean he is from Ahlulbayt it just shown his/her closeness to Ahlulbayt (as )

A WahAbi scholars Esam Al Emad which becomes shia said one time in Arabic countries  Arabic language & Grammer  teachings completely distorted by KSA  which classic Arabic sources as hadiths would interrupted   wrong even  by sunni scholars.

There are problems in your arguments. The first hadith does say umm salama entered after 33:33 but the hadith says the same about the five. There is no mention that the verse was revealed for them.

In your second argument you seem to suggest that it is for future, does that mean we consider the wives as ahlulbayt in the future?

Can you provide defects in the chains?

Your presented hadith are contradictory to the hadith mentioned in authentic sunni books. thus  these are not acceptable.

Also as per hadith no. 1 it is mentioned that Umme Salama RA entered the cloak, but the hadith in Sahih Trimizi and others mention that the prophet saaw kept her out of the cloak.  This is in compliance to the other hadith narrated by the wives of the prophet saaw that the prophet saaw himself, her daughter Imma Ali as and his two sons  alone covered under cloak and confirmed them as his Ahl alabaayt AS. as narrated by the wives of the prophet saaw ie AIsha, Umme Salama, and Saffiya RA. The prophet saaw also recited this verse of purification at the door of Fatima AS for 06 month after the revelation of the verse  of purification. All such evidences are sufficient to reject the conjectures based on weak / fabricated hadith. like presented iin OP.

The simple fact is that hadith in OP just ignore the words of the wives of the prophet saaw clearly confirming that no wife of the prophet saaw was allowed to enter in the cloak with those purified ones who are covered under the scope of verse of purification (last part 33:33) and were only covered inside the cloak by the prophet saaw.

Thus the chain of narrators alone has nothing to do if the text of hadith is itself contradictory to the other hadith mentioned in authentic books.

Hadith like presented by yourself seems fabrication developed afterwards to suit the political intentions of later generations or rulers.

My logic is strong and i am not a blind follower of conjecture and i have noting to do with the chain of a fabricated, weak or distorted hadith

This is why this is a khilaf issue among Sunnis. They have narrations which say that the wives are included, and there are narrations which say that they are not. The hadiths that say that the wives are not included in the Ahl al-Bayt are reliable and have been included in the sahih books:

^ Narrated by `A'isha in Sahih Muslim, it's the asbab an-nuzul of the second part of 33:33 and the wives are not included in the kisa'.

^ Narrated in Sunan al-Tirmidhi, sahih, and the Prophet basically tells Umm Salama that she is not in Ahl al-Bayt, but that she is upon goodness and has her own rank.

al-Hakim also includes this version of the tradition in his Mustadrak, volume 2, page 416. Suyuti, Tabari, al-Waqidi, and Ibn al-Atheer include this same narration as well.

^ Zayd ibn Arqam saying that the wives are not included in Ahl al-Bayt. Yes there is another version where he says that they are included in the general term Ahl al-Bayt, but that they are not included in the Prophet's usage of Ahl al-Bayt on Mount `Arafa in Hadith al-Thaqalayn. That "Ahl al-Bayt" is only his blood relatives.

If there is a contradiction in Sunni books of hadith, then they can't really blame us for holding one of the two positions. And yes, some Sunnis did take the position that the wives are not included in the second part of 33:33. From the Sunni site islamqa:
