Dr Jordan Peterson is someone i consider - for the most part - to be the most blunt, intelligent, clear-cut thinker on psychological and societal issues. Analysing issues like motivation, success, discipline, relationships, good and evil. I may not agree with him on some issues, given our difference in ideology, but of all the speakers i have listened to on these issues, this has got to be my favourite one, of all time - which is no easy feat because i have many favourite ones. He is helping change my perception and evaluate life like i have never done before. He speaks one enlightening thing after the other, without the hyperbole and irrelevancy. It's cut-throat knowledge and insight.

@Intellectual Resistance WOWZA... and to think that I've been "incriminated", so to speak, of micromanaging and over planning things all my life! Now this guy is the real deal and puts me completely to shame. I've only just watched the first 2 mins of the video and I'm on a complete high already (his energy and enthusiasm is magnetic and contagious); so I just had to comment that so far it's mind blowing. I can't wait to watch the rest of the videos in due course. Thanks you for sharing.  I think I may just annoy the life out of a certain member of my family (who is rather laid back in life to put in nicely and tries to delegate everything to me), by spamming her with these links. HAHA. P.S. Thank you for responding to my other post so lucidly and sagaciously. I will respond properly when I sign in next IA.

My reaction exactly. When i started listening to this individual at a time i felt lost, i knew right away this was something different entirely. I dug deeper into this guy, and from his interviews, he read widely on these issues, and on related issues, to an incredibly deep level, and reflected in ways that most of us wouldn't handle. The result? Cut throat insight.  In a way, he helps me refocus, organises my thoughts and helps me see what my mind already knows.

I'm going to be sharing them with my family and friends as well (: It's amazing it has had this reaction with you, and i hope these videos and his many other videos can benefit your life and the life of the people you care about, inshAllah.

If any of you have listened to him and like what you see or hear, then this might be worth looking into: https://www.amazon.co.uk/12-Rules-Life-Antidote-Chaos/dp/B078YBSPYZ/ref=tmm_aud_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=&sr=

It's a book by him from Amazon. I'm going to be getting a free-audible trial and getting his audio book for free , which he himself narrates. The book has rave reviews either way.

I haven't looked through the clips you posted or listened to Jordan Peterson more than I ever needed to, but everything I've ever heard about him has fit into a certain kind of narrative. He seems to be the kind of intellectual who tries very hard to conform to conventional right-wing views on every topic -- which includes bashing Islam and the Prophet with his rather illogical attempts at logic.

Didn't want to poop the party, but I think that's something we need to consider when we're talking about him.

Jordan Peterson is the dying echo of what was once the Christian West.

He does lean towards the right, and is 'Christian' but not in a traditional way in any regard (which someone will recognise). However, almost all of this content is quite neutral and follows logic and i would personally give him a watch . I agree with him on a lot, but of course, not everything.

Overall, he is respectful.

[Mod Note: Warning: Mature topics are discussed in this video. This is not a university lecture or a public interview. This is a private video between a man who was addicted to marijuana and pornography who personally filmed his interview with Dr. Peterson.]

This was eye-opening:

Particularly the last 30 minutes.

Just to qualify the video : This is a video that constitutes topics discussed publicly by Jordan B Peterson normally, but this is a one to one, publicly available video he had with an individual. The man on the left was a drug addict, and also an individual addicted to pornography, lost his way in life, didn't really know what to do, was left two days after getting married, and felt he had no place in the world. He left his drug habit, porn addiction, and using what he learned from Jordan B Peterson, became to build his way up in life. Though there is a lot of quality information in the video, as Muslims obviously we know some things may not apply, but that's an insignificant component of it.

This video seems to be the best parts of four different lectures put together. I liked this video, literally, at youtube.

It was nice to hear that Dr. Peterson analyzed the eating habits of one of his clients who was starving herself, and her anxiety went away after having therapy with him and starting to eat nutritious food again. I am definitely sure that not only is it very important to eat healthy to keep your sanity but if you don't put in the effort to do so, the stress on your immune system can have a devastating effect on your physical well being.

who did you hear it from?. If we follow your logic of I heard it from X then if it is true, then we can assume he follows your logic on islam based on I heard and read it from X. There is nothing right wing about him, it is just his followers who find him standing up for their delusonal white power or christiondom. A revival of their lost ethics or way of life. I am assuming his large fan base is composed of those in the lower brackets of society. Everyone needs a hero to guide them some time in their life, JP is the current one and eventually someone else will come, who will reuse the old texts in a different way.

I have drilled 25+ lectures of his in the last few weeks, his general sympathy is towards the Jews in auschwitz ( he seems to forget a large part of history, about how the yanky doodle firms had ties with Hitler and co ), his hatred towards the behavior of the nazis and the communists. He does mention Isis a few times. Generally he is more concerned about human behaviorism and the effects of poor choices based on irrational or emotive decision making, and explains it rationally while also associating it to religion. Meaning, he explains that religions or ancient texts outlines what psychoanalysis figured out through testing. Those who havent studied religion or ancient text, find this as new profound knowledge, although the ancient sages and philosophers have already explained it all. Although after removing the rose tinted glasses, we have to realise he is just promoting his religion, his ideas and making good money off it.

His fan base is growing exponentially. Yesterday I looked at his youtube channel and he had 946,884 followers. Today (10 hours later) he has 948,754.

I meant, obviously, everything I've heard from him in his videos regarding religion and ethics (as opposed to other subjects he regularly discusses). I agree in that he's aggrssively promoting his religious view, but I think a major reason why he has such a celebrity status in the West is because of how easily his words can be used to give an ideological basis to generally right-wing beliefs.

I think there are better motivational speakers out there than people who so regularly try to be virulenly anti-Islamic.

That was painful to watch. When he talks on religious and political subjects he seems eccentric. I saw him mention Prophet Abraham AS in a video and thought since he understands the archetypes of the Old Testament and obviously knows the New Testament, maybe a Shia could get in touch with him and explain to him the differences between Christianity and Islam. It would be great if someone like him became Muslim.

His fan base is off the peasant class. In times of turmoil, the voice that speaks to the people becomes the leader. He tries to implant rationalism and is against the status quo of certain forms of censorship or rules. He isn't just against Islam, there are many issues he is against. But videos as such, bring in the nationalist. Another mistake of his, in trying to jump into waters he does not understand. That is generally the foolishness of western academics. They see eastern works from a westerners perspective, blind while learning, without a clear mind.

However, he does need someone with intellect to challenge his knowledge on Islam or many other subjects. The problem is where are they?. I am sure he can be emailed. Plenty of academics here.

I believe he him self is struggling with his own demons and is very adapt as using his skills in manipulation. No one can be exempt from their own imagination.

The video is obviously unacceptable to us, but having said that, i think his point is more about freedoms of speech and expression, more than anything else. Obviously, he is in the wrong on this issue, and there is no doubt we would disagree with him. I believe he referred to himself as a classic British liberalist rather than radical left or right, though he obviously is on the right somewhat. I've seen similar material from men like William Lane Craig, one of the greatest debaters against Atheism in the public sphere we have, whose knowledge can be useful to us, but once again as Christians , and particularly conservatives or centre-right. He has gone after ills that have come from the left today, from sexual issues, indecent material online, instant gratification and other such issues that align with us.

Having said that the vast majority of work by Peterson isn't on Islam, and is on issues like personality, motivation, psychology in a broader sphere, as well as political issues. I mean he has recently published a book called '12 Rules for Life' which doesn't contain anything against Islam per-say, and most of his videos are neutral to religion and actually taught to a multi-ethnic, and diverse classroom of individuals of all religions.  It's a little big like being taught biology, or human anatomy, or literature, or art, or computer science by a figure who is a genius at what they teach, but may be an Atheist, and so regard Muhammed (saw) as a liar and obviously adhere to these so-called 'liberal' ideals.

I don't see him as someone on the level of a Nick Griffin, or T.Robinsin in the UK, who are extremely against Muslims.  I see him as what would be the majority of left or right non-Muslim types, who clearly are against Islam and some of the beliefs we have, and are often having their views distorted by associating Islam with Saudi-Arabia, like Peterson seems to do here, when he condemns the US for having alliances with it.

Unfortunately in Canada, you have a growing destruction of what makes a family, a family. You have cis-gender, non-binary, and people bringing forth ideals that are against the Islamic view of the role of a man and a woman. You have a promotion that promiscuity is liberal and acceptable, and although the radical left in Canada are accepting of Muslims, they pretty much stand against most of what Islam stands for. While Peterson is against Islam (conflating it with Saudi, and his own views on freedom of speech), he stands up of much of the moral views we as Muslims hold.

However, you have changed my mind in how i am going to approach this. Rather than promoting him , what i am going to do is learn what i can from him, given that he is definitely head and shoulders above the vast majority of motivational speakers i have heard, given his far deeper grasp of the human mind, sociology and the like, and then spread that knowledge. So i won't be promoting him any more, but will take what is good, and pass that on. I'll take beneficial knowledge. So i ask you brother, after you have read this message, to delete the thread. No matter how much i am mentally and emotionally invested in this, nothing is more dear to me than our Prophet (saw) and our religion.

I think it would be cool if he were invited to the masjid, allowed to speak, and asked questions about some statements he has made about our religion.

Dr. Peterson said that he has met with moderate Muslims in Canada and also the US. He is practical and does not want war. Keep talking and things might improve, inShaAllah.

He has a very flawed idea of Islam, I saw one speech of him talking about Islam and it's clear he didn't know what he was talking about but he did say he's open to changing his ideas on it so maybe someone in the University of Toronto could go have a chat with him (there are so many muslims so how has this not happened already?). One sister told me he respected Deism yet said Islam hasn't made any contributions to humanity which is.... :/ but otherwise he seems like a cool guy.

This article demonstrates how to smear a person you disagree with: https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2018/may/14/patreon-rise-jordan-peterson-online-membership

Really beautiful tactics. Try to notice all the subtleties. The Britons are way ahead of us in the field of brainwashing. They are so danged sneaky about it.

I am watching the Peterson vs Harris debate; and there are long parts of it which will be too difficult for most of the former's fans. But it's good that they might listen to it because they follow him.

In regards to the religious issue, I think when he stays away from the subject, his bias is gone, and speaks quite objectively (often in total agreement with Islamic ideology, unbeknownst to him) which I think could be very valuable in changing Western mentality back to the 1800s.

For example, Make-up and the workplace - skip to 2:20 if you're lazy
