Salam, I have to live with my aunt  husband who is sixty five years old and my aunt and mother. Because i do not have a job to get my own place but my heart is not at ease living with a namahram eventhough he is my father age. I feel uncomfortable living with him in the same house. What islam says about this situation? Am I allowed to live with him in the same house? Is it appropriate according to Islam to live with him in the same house?

Assalamu alaykum dear sister,

Given your situation, I see no problem per se in living with a ghair-mahram in the same house, provided that shar'i norms of haya and hijab are observed. As for your specific situation, since you have no alternative, limit the interaction with your uncle to the absolutely necessary if him being around makes you feel uncomfortable. If there is anything he has done to make you feel uncomfortable, you might try telling your mom and aunt, and talking it over politely.

What is the rule with the old woman or the old man of the non-mahram?

Greetings and Regards

It is not permissible.
