I am a layman, an average person with average or below average knowledge/intellect. But certain things are very clear to us lay/average people. One of them is this Slogan of 'Only Allah". I do not know which "The God" they are referring to when they say/demand 'Only God" in Command in the past, and "worship" today.

Quote

Sermon 184: Keep silent! May Allah disgrace you…

One of the Kharijites al-Burj ibn Mushir at-Ta'i raised the slogan, "Command behoves only Allah" in such a way that Amir al-mu'minin heard it. On hearing it he said:

ومن كلام له (عليه السلام)

قاله للبرج بن مسهر الطائي، وقد قال له بحيث يسمعه: لا حكم إلاَّ لله، وكان من الخوارج

Keep silent! May Allah disgrace you, make you ugly, O you with broken tooth. Certainly, by Allah, when truth became manifest even then your personality was weak and your voice was low. But when wrong began to shout loudly you again sprouted up like the horns of a kid.

“Khawarij raised the slogan "rule of Allah" and said that Ali Ibn Abi Talib should not be the ruler. They used to say, لاٰحُکْمَ اِلاَّللّٰہ‘ - Governing is the right of God only. In response Commander of the Faithful used to say, 5کَلَمِۃُ حَقٍّ يُرٰادُ بِھَاالْبٰاطِل - What they are saying is correct but their purpose is evil.

They are right and the real ruler is God. The One who defines the commandments and holds the reins of all affairs of life is God. Rule and law belong to God but who is going to execute the law? Are you saying that no one other than God should implement the law? In response Imam Ali said, لاٰ بُدَّلِلنّا سِ مِنْ اَميرٍ - For a human society there is a need for a ruler.”

Today- its related to this phantom concept of their "version/definition" of  the concept "Worship". This Slogan which on the surface looks True was/is Utilized by the ones looking to gain power/worldly gains. Causing many issues among the Muslims and is used as a rally point to plunder the wealth/property/land/places of worships/women & children and lives.

What is the reality of this call “ Only Allah”

1)Who is this God that call on?

2)How did this God communicate with them, Was it a direct communication?

3)How did this Group come to know of this God?

4)How do they understand what this God wants from them?

5)How do they prove what they understand is this God’s command to others?

6)How many Gods are there, every group/Individual  in every age has a different interpretations of this God's commands?

7) Did the some Arabs, especially at or after the conquest of Mecca- who worshiped many gods, said let verbally accept one god, for political reasons, but we will undermine this man.

8) Why did Qur'an keeps reminding the Believers to Obey the Messenger of Allah(awj)?

9) Why they did not acknowledge the Authority of the Messenger of Allah(awj)?

10) How was this notion, used by internal and external enemy in the past and today to undermine Islam?

Iblis had no issue accepting God, (Only God) he did have an issue with accepting the "Command" to acknowledge the Representative of Allah(awj).

Why?

Quote

إِذْ قَالَ رَبُّكَ لِلْمَلَائِكَةِ إِنِّي خَالِقٌ بَشَرًا مِنْ طِينٍ {71}

[Pickthal 38:71] When thy Lord said unto the angels: Lo! I am about to create a mortal out of mire,

فَإِذَا سَوَّيْتُهُ وَنَفَخْتُ فِيهِ مِنْ رُوحِي فَقَعُوا لَهُ سَاجِدِينَ {72}

[Pickthal 38:72] And when I have fashioned him and breathed into him of My Spirit, then fall down before him prostrate,

فَسَجَدَ الْمَلَائِكَةُ كُلُّهُمْ أَجْمَعُونَ {73}

[Pickthal 38:73] The angels fell down prostrate, every one,

إِلَّا إِبْلِيسَ اسْتَكْبَرَ وَكَانَ مِنَ الْكَافِرِينَ {74}

[Pickthal 38:74] Saving Iblis; he was scornful and became one of the disbelievers.

قَالَ يَا إِبْلِيسُ مَا مَنَعَكَ أَنْ تَسْجُدَ لِمَا خَلَقْتُ بِيَدَيَّ ۖ أَسْتَكْبَرْتَ أَمْ كُنْتَ مِنَ الْعَالِينَ {75}

[Pickthal 38:75] He said: O Iblis! What hindereth thee from falling prostrate before that which I have created with both My hands? Art thou too proud or art thou of the high exalted?

قَالَ أَنَا خَيْرٌ مِنْهُ ۖ خَلَقْتَنِي مِنْ نَارٍ وَخَلَقْتَهُ مِنْ طِينٍ {76}

[Pickthal 38:76] He said: I am better than him. Thou createdst me of fire, whilst him Thou didst create of clay.

قَالَ فَاخْرُجْ مِنْهَا فَإِنَّكَ رَجِيمٌ {77}

[Pickthal 38:77] He said: Go forth from hence, for lo! thou art outcast,

وَإِنَّ عَلَيْكَ لَعْنَتِي إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ الدِّينِ {78}

[Pickthal 38:78] And lo! My curse is on thee till the Day of Judgment.

قَالَ رَبِّ فَأَنْظِرْنِي إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ يُبْعَثُونَ {79}

[Pickthal 38:79] He said: My Lord! Reprieve me till the day when they are raised.

قَالَ فَإِنَّكَ مِنَ الْمُنْظَرِينَ {80}

[Pickthal 38:80] He said: Lo! thou art of those reprieved

إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ الْوَقْتِ الْمَعْلُومِ {81}

[Pickthal 38:81] Until the day of the time appointed.

قَالَ فَبِعِزَّتِكَ لَأُغْوِيَنَّهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ {82}

[Pickthal 38:82] He said: Then, by Thy might, I surely will beguile them every one,

إِلَّا عِبَادَكَ مِنْهُمُ الْمُخْلَصِينَ {83}

[Pickthal 38:83] Save Thy single-minded slaves among them.

قَالَ فَالْحَقُّ وَالْحَقَّ أَقُولُ {84}

[Pickthal 38:84] He said: The Truth is, and the Truth I speak,

لَأَمْلَأَنَّ جَهَنَّمَ مِنْكَ وَمِمَّنْ تَبِعَكَ مِنْهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ {85}

[Pickthal 38:85] That I shall fill hell with thee and with such of them as follow thee, together.

Qur'an 38: 71-85
