Salaams, I am a 15 year old boy with a beard, and i want to grow it out- but my mother doesn't want me to grow it out, is there anything i can do or do i have to live with what my mum has said and keep it trimmed?

Salam!

Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى tells you to obey your parents as long as they don't force upon you something Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى dislikes!

I don't know the ruling on the beards, so you need to ask someone else. Maybe there is someone here who can tell you and then you can convince your mother!

But I think your mother is scared that you be accused for being a terroist with that beard, she loves you.

Salaam Alaykum brother

Allah blessed you with this consideration on religious matter.

The ruling is that yes you need to have beard. You can trim it. Your mother doesn't want it to be very long. I think she means trimming it. You can trim it, so that if a person sees you, he says that you have beard(not long, not completely shaved, something short and normal). My beard is short like half centimeter.

Allah bless you

I mean my beard is literally never longer than 5 mm so that I can be according to what my religion tells me. So in this case you can trim it to a suitable length your mother will allow, and I think this is the recommended solution based on all the ahadith/verses from the Qur'an about listening to one's parents.

Obeying parents is Wajib, but not in violating religion. I think OP's mother means trimming, not shaving.

One cannot shave his beard just because his mother likes that. It's against religion. I think most mothers mean trimming something around 5 mm. The rule is that when someone sees you, he would say that you have beard. If you shave, you don't have beard. If you make it very long, you disobey your mum. Something short and normal is OK by religion.

Wa Alaikum asalam,

You must obey your mother, but you still need to have a visible beard to an extent.

Trim it, but don't shave it. According to most maraja' having no beard is haram.

Yep, but alot of people think they can do whatever they want.

They pick some rules and leave some others. It's something that needs to end, as it is confusing a lot of Muslims!

Thank god I have it trimmed, Am I allowed to fix it? So it looks good? But the niyaa it is to look good for Allah?

@Wared Last time I asked I was told that when seen it can be called a beard, meaning the line of hair goes from one sideburn to the other, and that lining it up so to speak is permissable. I would like someone to clarify that for me though please.

Beard is luxury for men so it must be looks beautiful but in moderate manner.

The Qur'an says: "O Children of Adam! wear your beautiful apparel at every time and place of praye " Al-A’raf / 31O people! When you go mosque be stylish Go with a good dress, perfume, comb your hair and go beautiful to mosque. The first point is Benny Adam. Why? Why did not he say: "Oh who you are beleives?" Maybe he wants to say: respect for the place of worship is not only for Muslims. Anyone who has any religion. . . When a Christian wants to go to church, the Jew will also go to the synagogue when he wants to go to the monastery when he wants to go.

Solution to your problem.

Islam says to keep a beard but it doesn't say you have to have a long beard.

What is the concrete jurisprudential argument on shaving beard?
question
Salamun alaikum. Kindly elaborate on the following question in simple and easy words. What is the concrete jurisprudential argument about shaving beard?
Concise answer
Great jurisprudents studying many different proofs and arguments on this subject have forbidden shaving beard. Of course, some other scholars have criticized the said arguments saying that relying on those proofs to which recourse has been made is unacceptable.  However, keeping in view the fact that there is not so much harm in exercising precaution, it is better than doing dubious or problematic actions. Jurisprudents have not also permitted shaving beard. In fact, in their view, the precaution is to avoid shaving it. It should be noted that not shaving beard does not mean negligence towards cleanliness nor does it imply that one should keep a long beard; rather one should always and under all circumstances observe cleanliness and be moderate.
