I'm overthinking this statement and have confused myself. Almost overslept or overslept almost an extra hour? Either way, duas that your day is bearable.

lt's the syntax.  She most likely meant, "l woke up almost an hour late for iftar, idiot _____" which implies alarm clock, husband, whatever.

OR

"l almost woke up, then fell back asleep, and was an hour late (to rise?) for iftar, idiot ____" which again implies alarm clock, husband, whatever.

Today, l did the reverse. l forgot Fajr is getting earlier so when l realized my timing error, l raced to cook and then only had time to eat about a fourth or third of it.

So, leftovers for iftar.  :eat:

Thought: though l have already read Quran for Ramadham, l will read again, inshallah.

@starlight Sorry for late reply. Having a kid is a big and life-changing decision. Both partners should be ready for it. Yes, accidents happen but in most cases, a couple has the power to make this decision. It's possible that he didn't see her as mother of his kids. A person who doesn't care about their partner's wishes while making such a big decision is probably not a good human being and will not be a good role model for the kids.

@Son of Placid I just recently read an article that in 40% of divorce cases, women pay the alimony to their husband. I had an entry level job, still I was told to pay alimony to my ex husband since he worked part time. So it is possible for men to have kids and not pay for their expenses. There are a lot of kids in US raised by single mothers. If men don't work or earn less money, and women are bread winners, men can have as many kids as they want without worrying about their expenses.  I know about 8-10 men who are married to doctors, pharmacists, businesswomen, and they don't earn much. They never tried to become mothers for their kids since their wives fulfilled responsibilities of both mother and father. It has become so common that many people expected me to do the same. I said:' excuse me, I am not a professional and I don't earn $90000 per year

Hard to believe, but those left overs tasted just as good after microwaving as this morning.

People go to jail for ridiculous reasons in US. Why is this person writing all this on internet and not in jail? He is also against feminism. If anti-feminist people are like this, then I am proud to be a feminist.

1] Are you sure this isn't a gag?

2] What does feminutism have to do with this --even though there is this disgusting diatribe about violence against women.

No it's real. He ran for local public office before, but got almost no votes. I think he runs for office just to get attention. There's no way people, no matter how disillusioned, would vote for him.

I've heard that if you study some thing for an hour per day, in seven years you'll be an expert. I wonder if this is true. Maybe I'll do an experiment.

My doubt is centered on the availability of higher levels of information.

Yes, this happens from time to time. This is a big site, and maintainence work occasionally needs to be done.

I would be careful saying this kind of stuff, even if it’s joking. First, it makes people uncomfortable and discourages site usage, which shouldn’t be a problem if you use common sense and follow the rules. Secondly, it’s  unfair to admins, who work hard maintaining the site, while you (jokingly?) speculate something insidious must be happening behind the scenes.

:respect: Your second paragraph is unfair.

I am referring to my computer. Plus, my harping on "peeping-Toms" threats is another kind of warning that we have on SC. Example: Sisters posting personal or identifying info. Also, telephone numbers and such.

I was here. The outage due to maintenance was less than 5 minutes. A minor inconvenience. :)

Br. Ali was at the site, so I know it was a maintenance and not something wrong. I think I watched a video at youtube so it could have been 30 minutes at the most.

I am confident no such thing goes on here. Shias are more than others aware of the many traditions from the Prophet and the Aimmah condemning people who spy on others, seek to find faults in others, gossip, backbite and the like. I'm sure no-one wants to formally apologise directly else face any individuals on the day of judgement. No-one here is that low, or has that little going on in their actual life. Though it goes without say, personal information should go no-where on this website.

Facebook on the other hand is a different story Akhi.

My son volunteered to clean up all the poison ivy I can find in exchange for a box of grocery store bakery brownies. I think I'd be a fool to not take him up on the offer, but as a mom, I don't want to expose him to the misery of a persistent terribly itchy painful rash. He feels confident that he'd be fine with gloves and long clothing, in spite of the fact that my current rash is over my face and I always wear gloves and long clothing while working outside.

Also, unrelated, I'm reading about The Silurian Hypothesis. It's interesting. It seems obvious to me that humans are the first "advanced civilization" on Earth, but the study provides clues what to look for in astrobiology - assuming life and available resources on other planets are comparable to ours, which is a big assumption.

Special duas tonight for the sisters @ireallywannaknow  @notme as well as sister @starlight who helped me find my answer regarding fasting in places with no night, very moved by your efforts, may Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى reward you all like He would reward those who eases others struggles.

@IbnSina Thank you for your duas!

What a coincidence! I was just about to ask you how are your fasts coming along in that middle of nowhere location?

There are a few who have claimed to have found the ark. I remember a piece of wood in a glass case came to our church, erm, I have to say more than 50 years ago. It was making the rounds, boosting the faith of all believers, except it was a piece of wood in a glass box. Another claimed to see a ship shape from the air on a fly by. Another claimed to have walked into the ark and looked around, described the structure. A guy who studied glacial activity said there's no way the ark is still in one piece, and the last assumed area was covered in 100 feet of ice. I'd go looking myself except I have a bad back.

There was this hokey film in the 70s called "in search of noah's ark". Hokey because the whole thing was filmed inside a studio with special effects. There was also an astronaut that "climbed" Mt. Ararat in a same-said search, but it was really because that it is a border marker and the Soviets had espionage stations --radar, intercept, and so forth-- on their side and near the top.

The biblical version was edited in the 2nd and 3rd centuries BCC, and no matter what the "original" had it was transmitted as "in the mountains of Ararat" but where Ararat was is not specified. What is now proclaimed as Ararat is also not "east of Shinar"[between the two rivers" Tigres-Euphrates], in which case Noah-a.s. would have had to have landed in the Zargos. The last time the Armenian Arafat volcanoe erupted was in 1840.

These and other historical and environmental factors and events still leaves another possibility why the boat didn't survive. Noah-a.s. used it to build a new home.
