Since the 1990s, the old tribal system has broken down, there has been about 2 million orphans, the Taliban didn't have a program/vision for a new Afghanistan --just rhetoric and repression; drug addiction among Afghans went from nearly unheard-of to endemic; nobody wants the Talibs back in charge (re-watched a 2009 video last week and this is what was said); the US doesn't know they cannot be successful; anything that looks like lndia's involvement the Paki-gov't destroys; the Pashtoons believe they should run everything; the country has essentially been land of rubble since the battles of Kabul in the 1990s; ...

The only positive l have read lately is that China will build a branch of the "Belt and Road" into Afghanistan.

Maybe/maybe not an answer to my question.

The Syrian gov't is saying that US helicopters moved lS commanders out of Deir-e-Zor but Russia says they "have no evidence" that this has occurred.
